I saw this meme in the funny pics thread and am stealing it. . . thanks to member EndTheMadnessNow.

I live outside of Portland so it's only 100 effing degrees right now and not 115 at PDX (Portland Airport)

We're having a heat wave. . . a tropical heatwave. . .

And I am not used to it.

Our house does have an air conditioner, but no central air since the average summer temp is 68F. That's like 3C for Europeans.

But it's HOT!

HotHotHotHot

How are the other PNW folks dealing?

Open the cooling centers for Sasquatch. If you’re hot, they’re hot.

Hang a blanket under the header of doorways where the heat can escape to away from ac vents.

Ajar one window 1/8 inch to draw the heated draft away from cooler places.

I imagine having several rooms to cool could complicate decision making, good luck stay cool and drink plenty of water!

I bought my wife a massive AC unit a couple of years ago just because we hit a hot spell then, but nothing like this.

Wow.

We're keeping our home at a tolerable level in the 70's.

Yeah, I was stationed at Nellis back in the day. You guys are used to temps this high.

If it goes above 75 we tend to piss ourselves.

It's only 92 here in Glacier country, the average temp in the past has been 72. My sil is in the hermiston region. 118 in the shade there. My cats are all begging for a shear. Definitely a day for ice cream and shade!

May I suggest a gin and tonic? It was the cat’s meow according to the British East India company for tropical locations. Perhaps the quinine in the tonic, a traditional cure for malaria, will add protection from the dreaded COVID.

Well at 1000 degrees you can cook outside that will keep the house cooler.

I don't smoke inside my own house.

So when I did go out to smoke, I didn't even need to light the cigarette. It just combusted, I got a hit of nicotine, than ran inside before I burst into flames.

It's usually 60F in the summer. I wear a sweater in the summer.

Usually.

But no.

It didn't get this hot in Oregon when Trump was president.

Thanks, Biden!
