Sorry to burst the bubble mate but its not because of any particular fondness or affinity with Italy - 'Anyone but England'.

www.irishnews.com...
www.express.co.uk...

Knobheads like Rory McIlroy and Andy Murray have got in on the act in the past - Andy Murray even wore an Argentinian top on one occasion.

More than a hint of jealousy with a smattering of hypocrisy if you ask me - which no-one is - but we don't care.

I get it. Happens with the Yankees here, "I root for the 'Fill in the Blank Team' and anyone playing the Yankees".

Nice to see the Publican in the Irish News link has had to buy six National Flags so far. Italy Flag his next wasted money purchase LOL.

The irony is that Irelands most ever succesful Football Manager was an Englishman, Jack Charlton.

If you read my reply the bottom of page 14 you'll get an idea of why people go against England.
Obviously its only a small minority of arseholes but it never seems to stop.

Its in no way 'a hint of jealousy' you can be sure of that

Enjoy the win but they need to be realistic; play like that on Sunday and Italy will tear us a new arsehole.

I thought they played well , good movement on and off the ball and some slick passing , we controlled most of the second half with Denmark not getting a touch for long periods , we were unlucky not to score more.

No doubt there will be goals from both sides on Sunday and it will be a nervy affair but after last night's performance I see no reason why we can't win it.... dependent on the team fielded.

The booing of the national anthem.

Do you ever actually watch foorball ?

Ireland and Scotland fans have been booing The English National Anthem for as long as i can remember.

Also many nations in Europe boo the anthem as well, especially the Eastern European Countries.

What's good for the goose etc.

As for the penalty, the free kick The Danes scored from shouldn't have been given as no foul was commited. So that evens that out. Final score England 1 Denmark 0

I'm not supporting or even excusing what those knobheads did last night.

But lets put it into context;
I've been all over Europe watching England.....I've been spat at, literally pissed on, I've seen large groups of young men attack families including women and children for no reason at all.
I've had bottles thrown at me in several countries and seen people literally beaten to a pulp.
I've heard God Save The Queen booed and jeered in almost every country on the European continent and all bar one of the Home Nations.

Very, very little of that ever gets reported because it doesn't fit the 'boorish', 'arrogant' English bastards narrative that everyone seems so quick to push.

I have been in some of the most intimidating environments you could ever imagine watching England.
I can hand on heart say that its only when English fans defend themselves or react to some fierce provocation that reports appear in MSM.

Do you honestly think its only English fans that boo opponents national anthems?

And I can honestly say those examples are very, very tame compared to what I have witnessed first hand at The Millenium Stadium and in Berlin just for two.

But I don't hold it against people from those nations; its football and its rivalry.
For the duration of the game we aren't supposed to like each other.

Yes, a minority do take it too far, and they deserve all the punishment they get....and more in some instances.

But a minority of people from other nations take it far too far as well.
But that seems to be ok if its England and their fans who are the targets.

The jealousy bit was a joke - humour, something the Irish are nearly as renowned as the English, Scots and Welsh for appreciating.

But there's definitely a huge #ing dollop of hypocrisy and double standards when it comes to things like this.

The knobheads who shone that laser or whatever it was in Schmeichel's face should at least be banned from every single football ground in the UK and even Europe for life.
Me, I'd also given them a year or so to ponder on things....in Denmark's roughest prison. I'm sure they'd then see the error of their ways.

The vast majority of English fans conducted themselves impeccably.
Danish fans intermingled with English fans without incident.

But sure, concentrate on the actions of a minority who acted poorly, but no worse than a minority of fans from almost every nation in this tournament and almost every other one prior to it.

As for complaining about players diving;
If I was a manager I would tell my players that if they dived then they would never play for me again.
But, and its a massive big #ing BUT, players from every single country dive.
Its crept into our game and become 'the norm'.
To criticise England for it without criticising players from every other country is well.....come on.

# me, the Italians turned diving into an art form.
Just look at some of these French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese etc players and they roll over as if they've been shot.

To single England out is well, proof of the hypocrisy and double standards I mentioned earlier.

You are far better than this and I have to say I am quite surprised and even disappointed at your reaction.

Possibly as drunk as the English fans who booed the Danish national anthem last night?

But I guess that's just a bit of the renowned Irish craic and banter whereas the English are just bastards.

Even tiny Liechtenstein can't escape it.

Oben Am Jungen Rhein (Up Above the Young Rhine) has been the national anthem of the tiny Alpine state since 1963 and was met with audible derision by many of those at Tuesday night's Euro 2012 match between the two sides at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

"I was embarrassed and extremely disappointed by the disgraceful behaviour of some of our supporters during the Liechtenstein national anthem at Hampden Park," said SFA acting chief executive George Peat

There has been an anti-English bias in world football for a fair amount of time. FIFA awarding World Cup Tournamants is just one example.

It has become more noticeable in recent years. After all, we only bloody invented the game.

You guys should get the World Cup every time but with the caveat that it needs to be held in Jaywick, Essex.

Yes, there is an anti-English bias in almost everything.
It manifests itself in many ways, but it is blatant in some sports.

I've witnessed and experienced it many times.

Its impossible to talk to Scots, Irish about it.
When they do something they are just having a laugh and the English are over sensitive.
We do exactly the same...and we're bastards.

Jaywick?
What prompted that?

I can honestly say I'd never heard of the place - bit of a #hole.

I think it should be held in the cultural capital of the UK; Blackpool!

Google and Bing both said it's the worst place in England to live, so I said 'let's make the rest of the soccer world enjoy it'.

Sharing is caring.
