A group of congressional Republicans led by Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert are suing Vice President Mike Pence to prevent him from confirming Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election.

"This civil action seeks an expedited declaratory judgment finding that the elector dispute resolution provisions in Section 15 of the Electoral Count Act, 3 U.S.C. §§ 5 and 15, are unconstitutional because these provisions violate the Electors Clause and the Twelfth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution,” the suit reads...

As one who has strongly supported president Trump in contesting the election, I have to draw a line somewhere, and this is it. Filing a lawsuit to prevent the VP of the United States from certifying the "winner" of the election is one step over the line. There is historical precedent in 1797 and 1801 for what is called the "Jefferson Card", and I understand this, but this is not a matter to be decided by the courts. It is a matter to be decided in the house and senate by our elected representatives on whom the responsibility falls, and it's time for all of them to step-up and do their jobs according to the constitution they swore to uphold, whatever the outcome.

For all the claims about the GOP being the party of fiscal responsibility they're certainly wasting a lot of money on cases that won't even see the inside of a courtroom.

Apparently I'm not following the money very well.

Wasn't it the other side that's trying to piss away all your money?
To the tune of hundreds of billions for other countries while Americans are jobless and on the verge of homelessness.

That bill had total bipartisan support demonstrating, once again, that both parties are opposite sides of the same coin.

Are you referring to the bipartisan bill that contains numerous items requested by the Trump administration?

I'm pretty sure they're referring to the Defense/Omnibus Socialism Bill that was attached to the Covid Socialism Bill.

Fair enough.
Regardless of who is supporting it though, it just sounds kind of comical to me to complain about the wasted cost of a court case Vs 54 billion +/- of utter waste.

Grab some popcorn, a beer, and enjoy the theatre.

Our nation is so hopelessly corrupt that it's actually funny to see politicians on all sides feign outrage and pretend to have morals and values.

In the grand scheme of things it's a drop in the taxpayer bucket, we've pissed away trillions on this Covid nonsense and now you have the President and Congress advocating for even more socialism.

Why not $2,000,000 for each person? Either way, that's an topic for anther thread.

This Pence thing is going nowhere, there is nothing he can do to change the election outcome.

Right, whatever and I'm sure you think that a used car salesman is only telling you what you want to hear to sell you the car.

As I'm once again sadly in the process of buying a new car I can attest that they are 100% truthful in describing the vehicle and costs.

So in your infinite wisdom you believe we get nothing for the money we invest in foreign aid? Foreign Aid has been a 'thing' since WWII. It's how we are able to get (bribe) countries to back us in a variety of ways. So after 75yrs NOW it's a big problem? Give me a break. Trump doesn't give a rat's ass about anyone but himself --- least of all this Country. All the people involved in his Election money-grabbing ploy should be tried for treason. Hell, HE should be tried for treason.

Sorry, I've not been following all this crap real closely for the last couple weeks.

All I know is your Gov (both sides?) is trying to or is pissing away a large chunk of money mostly to other countries and pointless projects etc..

Was merely pointing out the comparison of the cost between a court case Vs billions in bills.

Neither party is fiscally responsible. There’s just differences in where they put their money (our money). Democrats lean towards social programs, Republicans lean towards big business.

Both help their friends and donors out. Both give the military almost a blank check. Republicans need to remember that all of the pork in that bill they’re fighting against now (Trump included) was put there and ok’d by Trump himself.

A meme I saw recently stated that the Constitution is 4 pages long and gave us America.

The government plan is 5,000 pages long and is giving us 600.00 dollars.

Yeah unfortunately I just started looking aswell for the wife. I have come to realize that I'm the luckiest guy around. Every dealer I have gone to has the best deals , lowest prices , best customer service and the only one of a kind mass produced car on their lot .

Well said OP. S&F.

We should all remember that Representative Gohmert is not known for his brilliant legal mind.

For anyone unsure of the law he's trying to repeal via the judiciary it's the Electoral Count Act of 1877 (as amended).

The matter will be decided in the Congress as the Constitution and our laws require.

Yeah not even going to touch that.
Something tells me that if I was to impart some of my infinite wisdom on you it would go right over your head.
