Hospitals in many locations are beginning the rationing of care.

That will continue and worsen.

Stay home when you can, wear a mask, wash your hands, stay 6-10 ft away from others when possible.

Yep, I had it too. Like a really sh!tty cold that lasted about 4 weeks longer than it should have. Still don't know if I can get it again.

Would you please explain how you "got" it? Were you masking, and distancing socially, and staying away from large gatherings?

There are lots of us who are trying to navigate here, and I (only 62) would prefer to avoid getting it. But lately I've been considering the "oh well whatever!" strategy that I see others (mostly younger than I) adopting.

I want to go back to work, but I'm discouraged from doing that by my spouse and kids and mom. What ever shall I do??

Your source is the Associated Press, what big lie did they begin to spread on or around November 3rd?

Apologies if I don't find them credible.

They are not credible any longer.

This might have added to it too.

But last week the CDC reported more than 81,000 drug overdose deaths in the 12 months ending in May, making it the highest number ever recorded in a one-year period.

I never said that I thought the excess deaths are all from covid. I read recently that San Francisco had twice as many deaths in one day from drugs than they did from covid. People are also dying because they are not getting healthcare for their non-covid health problems. And suicides are up. I personally know more people who died this year from suicide than covid.

Chill, dude... I wasn't saying you did.

How great it would be if you told me to chill to my face

Why?

Does the word chill trigger you?

It's less about the word and more about being told to do something. But I did assault and batter someone once just for calling me Dude

Just to clarify, it's not typically a good idea to threaten another member in an open forum at ATS.

Dude.

Do better.

Dear Mr jrod, I'm useless at math so work this out.
If the figure of deaths from Covid is 1 per 1000 then would the percentage of vunerability of dying from Covid be .0001%? If that is correct, where do they get the figure of 6% vulnerability?

Statistically, people 75+ have a 6% chance+/- of dying, so 1 in 20. All other age groups drop well below 1%, the younger, the better the odds. There are odd exceptions.

I work in a nice sized hospital, about 700 beds. The icu has been maxed the last month. Our icu is never maxed. We have the flu every year, we have car accidents. We have cancer. Never maxed icu. All our beds are full for most of this year. We never have all our beds maxed. We have flu every year, we have cancer, accidents etc every year. Never have all our beds maxed. We have 101 icu beds, we currently have 163 covid patients. Those are all patients who likely would have died without hospitalization. We have had a running total, constantly increasing, over 100, for the last month. I’m sure all those people are relieved to know they have something as tame as the common flu. We should just toss them all a handful of Advil and send them home.

From Scot Jensen tweet :

Almost every day I speak with physicians or nurses or administrators of metropolitan hospitals. The graph below represents what I have been told over the last two weeks. And yet, the panic prevails.

Well, here’s my hospitals daily updated data. It’s very in depth, has graphs showing trends, dates, demographics, beds, etc. Also, it’s first hand. I’m seeing this and working this every day, myself, not heard from someone who heard from someone.

And let me add, I’m not saying panic. It’s team rightwingnutjobs on here presenting the diametric of “covid ain’t a thing” vs “panic”. Nobody, in fact, is saying panic. The side of reason here is pointing out “yeah, covid exists, and it’s much closer to what the media portrays than it is to the common flu/conspiracy theory”. Team rwnj merely refuses to acknowledge the real facts on the ground as anything other than panic.

This isn’t specific, btw, to covid. Team rwnj sees ANY attempt to address or acknowledge real issues as panic and scaremongering. To them there isn’t a single crisis in the world right now, other than election fraud. Ecological crisis? Doesn’t exist. Anthropomorphic extinction of all other species? Doesn’t exist. Economic crisis due to years of tax reductions and trickle down/fraud? Doesn’t exist. Military industrial complex? Doesn’t exist. Exploitation by oligarchs and disaster capitalism? Doesn’t exist. And so on. They are, indeed, the party of status quo, and would have us believe that everything, other than election fraud, doesn’t exist and is an attempt to usher in socialism and communism via the Democratic Party, who are almost just as fascist in truth as the Republican Party.

The graph at the twitter account that you linked (Scot Jensen) is created by the Twitter account "covid_clarity."

It is not substantiated by the information from the Minnesota Department of Health available here.
