In another international survey, the reported rate of wearing face masks among Koreans was even higher (94%); this was the highest rate among 28 countries [4].

Korea population: 51 Million
Coronavirus Cases:
30,017
Deaths:
501
Recovered:
26,263

Wanted to add, in addition to masks, I believe social distancing and hygiene is also important.

Yeah I know we agree on some things. My mom said she felt like she had the flu when she had corona. The aches, a little tough on the breathing, no taste or smell, and a dry cough. Her doctor gave her a Z-Pack and some other flu meds and she was much better within 4 days. They also ran an x-ray on her chest and told her she had covid-pneumonia. I don't know what exactly it meant, but she had that.

Wheres the comparison chart, this is not even remotely ANY kind of proof of anything

Try looking at all the images I posted, specifically the last 2. And here's another one:

Sweden f'd up, they are reconsidering their early decision. I would use South Korea, or Vietanam as models..both did very well, masks and all that.

I'm f'ing pissed, because of dipsh#ts not giving a F, we are in lockdown territory..again!

It wouldn't make a bit of difference. I'm around people in the public daily and I haven't cared to wear a mask since it all started, and neither have any of my family or friends besides my mom and so far she's the only one who has caught it. And when I push a shopping cart through walmart or Kroger, I don't clean it or wash my hands afterwards. What am I missing here?

I agree. It’s the whole package — awareness and commitment.

And I’d say there’s an issue of comparing America to countries with free healthcare — who jumped on this immediately.

I think America is probably under reported. People here, just don’t go to doctors, unless they have to.

And it took quite awhile to get a free testing program going.

All I know is for weeks there was smoke here from fires. Even with a mask on, you could still smell and taste the smoke, virus cells are far, far smaller then smoke particles.

We do not have outside visitors.

My daughter who works is tested weekly.

OOF, that's got to suck... We never do any of that and we're all fine. My nephew stopped going to his dad's house because his dad was anal like that. He just stays at his mom's now when he's home from college.

True enough, I wear an n95, gowns, gloves and goggles. And my family all wear filtered masks when they are out in public at all. I also have all my family on high vitamin c and d regimens as we are likely to be exposed at some point, and in our town, like most rural areas, almost no one else wears masks, so at least they are protected from us, who I consider to be highly likely vectors at some point. Sadly, it offers far less protection for us from all of them. I just don’t rightly understand how someone can be in a hospital room, possibly dying from a disease, and not think to use a mask if it could provide any possible protection at all for the people taking care of them. I’m not talking they have to wear one 24/7, the rooms are negative air pressure, but at least slap one on for the 10-20 minute segments that someone is in there with them, and for gods sake, turn your head and cover your mouth when you cough and sneeze! What thoughtlessness does it take to cough and sneeze directly at a person caring for you, especially when you have a life threatening illness??? Turning your head or covering your mouth should be standard practice whether you are sick or not!

mask + tracing then isolating ALL who may even have a slight chance is what is working in JAPAN Australia adn a few other countrys .

Just mask Isnt going to work .

Yeah, well, for something that has a 0.03% CFR is not worth giving away our liberties, for even one day, let alone destroying the economy of the entire country.

I'll be glad when the mask/covid fascists go away...

Those people have been wearing masks for 15 years. Not to mention, you don't know if the data coming from Korea is accurate or not.

I'm Korean and my mom only watches Korean news, it is accurate.
Also pre-covid, Koreans wear masks when they are sick or if it is environmentally a dusty or high pollution day. As the chart
shows the mask use went up significantly during covid.

One MAJOR difference between Korea and the US. In Korea elders are very highly respected. If you have to wear a mask to protect your elders, you will do without question. It is not a matter of the government, it is more cultural.

ALSO, the OP said prove otherwise, I show my chart and now you guys don't believe it.. ha

I guarantee if I do an experiment and put a sick to death Covid person in a room and you have to walk in there and you have the option of wearing a mask, you would wear one.

There's also different masks - you have a 3M N100, mask w a sealed gasket but its still easily compromised by facial hair.

Most masks just have huge gaps on the side so are not effective.

I would say the only case regular masks are effective is if someone contagious w Covid is sneezing or coughing then perhaps less people may get it then if he did not wear a mask. Not saying people cannot be infected in that case.
