As a parent of three kids in sports, these idiots that can't follow the rules are going to get sports shut down again. I don't like wearing the mask or my kids wearing masks during competition but that is the current rules we need to follow so sports can go on.

It's a really good thing you do what Anthony Fauci tells you to do. It's good that you block your airway, and your children's airways. It's good that you lower their oxygen levels and raise their carbon dioxide levels because an unelected bureaucrat with an agenda has told you to do so.

You are a very good subject. Best of luck to you.

While the mask rules ARE STUPID AND INEFFECTIVE the school gets to make the rules for its property.

Then they should make sure their security members are also wearing mask. Taser dudes’ mask was under his nose, and the other officer didn’t have one on at all.

Wonder if she was home or visiting team?

My mom was watching my nephew at a track meet. He was doing discus. During the competition, some poor kid lost control of his and it flew back, found the one gap in the safety netting, flew through and beaned her in the head. She ended up at the hospital across the street with four stitches in her face.

The kid who threw it was horrified.

Luckily two of the parents watching were EMTs, and they were right there on the job and got her across the street with proper first aid.

Thing was ... all these people who helped and made sure she was OK were all from other schools than the one hosting. No one from that school ever made any contact in any way with my mom or my dad for any reason about the incident.

Some schools are dicks.

News flash
When you enter a venue for an event YOU SURRENDER YOUR RIGHTS.

And? I was making that point...in a sarcastic way.

My sincerest apologies.
I was unable to detect your sarcasm.
Please forgive me.

Apparently this was a School resource officer.

SRO's are not governed by the school board. They are controlled by the laws of the state in which they work and their agencies policies and procedures. When the law is broken by a perpetrator and there is a victim of a crime, charges must be brought. It is not the choice of school staff whether a law enforcement officer can act in filing charges.

Nothing else to argue.
The only rules that matter at that event are the schools.
It is not a public space, it is the schools property.
Try to get in without a ticket.

I think the school, the cop, and the lady all acted poorly.
Had she been able to control herself she could have sued.
She couldn't and got arrested.

OK ... so ... was this officer supposed to be following school rules or the state mandate then?

Dunno. Neither school’s AD mentioned a rivalry game. Both mentioned that it’s the state school athletic commission and the home school’s policy that you can wear a mask or not attend games.

I would think by the state, since SRO's are not governed by the school board.

Then that would be a clear case of discrimination against those with disability.

Re: twitter.com...

It's crazy, but there are rules to follow when shopping, going to a football game, or whatever.

Americans will vote out the people who Implement those rules, if they haven't been dumbed down too much from re-inhaling Co2 through their face masks.

That assumes she actually has asthma. Seems a bit odd that she can’t wear a mask because asthma, but can resist arrest just fine.

You’d also think a person with asthma who’s carrying around a mask in her pocket would probably be carrying something else along the lines of “reasonable accommodation” to comply with the mandate, rather than carrying the very thing she “can’t wear” because asthma.

Weird.

Except she was following the state rules, and she had a medical condition that normally provides one with an exemption to almost every set of rules.

The other problem is that she was not warned.

So the cop came up and booted her with no warning. So even if she was in violation of the school's rules, she had no chance to make a change. Even with most parents who are being unruly, the receive a warning unless they are clearly over the top in their behavior. I know that one - my brother-in-law happens to be *that* parent.

Then she shows the Dr excuse and end of debate.

Oh bulls*t. It's good that you hyperbolize putting a piece of breathable cotton over your face. You make it sound as though we are telling them to run around with a plastic bag over their head.

I could give a rats ass about Fauci. I'm following the rules that the school district has put forth for my kids to participate in their sport. As much as I disagree with it, it's what it is for now. A cloth mask isn't blocking their airway or lowering their oxygen levels. They've been participating in their sport for weeks now with no problem. Is it hot and uncomfortable? Yes. Don't act like I'm sending my kids out to die.

If a person has pre-existing conditions that would be exacerbated using a mask, then don't participate.

Not necessarily.

I've seen nowhere that you are supposed to produce papers to prove your exemption.

But masks do make a marked difference even with mild asthma. I have exercise asthma. For most things, the mask doesn't bother me - light shopping trips, etc. I had to exercise in it for the first time a couple nights ago, and stuff that doesn't normally do more than make me breathe hard without the mask, flipped me into wheezing inside 10 minutes with the mask on. Because it's normally so mild, I didn't think it would be that big of a deal, but it was.

Now I'm not going to go running to a doctor for a note just for that because most of the time, the mask isn't an issue. I'll see if I can control it with an inhaler first.

But my point is that mask on v. mask off can be dramatic with asthma, more than I had realized.

My wife has trouble dealing with the fabric masks. We then purchased a couple of boxes of the disposables like you see used in hospitals and problem solved. I doubt anyone has trouble breathing with those on, unless its psychosomatic and purely a mental issue. They don't seem to restrict breathing at all, and they are cheap again.

Other than online, people who are opposed to masks seem to be very rare, and the same people who object to everything just because they can.

The minds a powerful thing and if you think you can't breathe, you feel like you can't breathe. I admit the fabric masks can be bothersome, but alternatives are available cheaply.

It's like releasing a harmless odor in a room that smells awful will make people sick, even though it's harmless.

Honestly, if a person refuses to wear a mask, they should not attend things like a school event. It's just common sense and decency, no matter how they feel about masks. That person's whole agenda may have been to get in the news as a form of protest.
