China threatens Australia for investigating origin of COVID 19

Chinese restaurants have already been targeted, there is talk of militia-but if they want to economically try to screw us fine-we'll take our business elsewhere.

Well, this is just ridiculous and primitive. No matter what the outcome of this is, you should not take it out on innocent chinese people in whatever country!

See, it's stuff like this which makes me wonder about this whole Wu-Flu thing! The world is upside down. Everything is backwards! Crazy!

China holds way too much debt from other countries. The worst thing they could do is piss off that country by threatening some kind of economic punishment. These are sovereign countries for cripes sakes! All they would have to do is write-off some, or all, of that debt and there's not a gawd damned thing the ChiComs could do about it! It's not like they're going to come marching in and start repossessing stuff...they can't. It makes no sense!

In the case of Australia, I completely disagree with the poster above who says the US doesn't have their back. China makes one move on Australia and the US is going to rain fire on China!

Even with that said, China exports way more goods to Australia than Australia exports to China. What's the biggest export to China from Australia? Beef? What? Now let's look at what China exports to Australia...freaking everything! Australia can shut China's pie hole in a NY second just by responding with..."Okay, if you're not going to import our stuff, well, then we won't import YOUR stuff, China!" End of discussion...game over! Just that fast. NEXT?

It is a bit complicated I'm afraid. China buys raw minerals from us that represents a pretty substantial chunk of our GDP. A Chinese boycott will throw Australia into a dire economic situation.

China sure is behaving like they have nothing to hide!

Not nearly as bad as it would jack up China's production machine! They'd never stop buying commodities. That would be the very last thing they'd stop doing!

And that's just it, I've long said we (the world) should be putting big export tariffs on raw materials exports to China. If they want to wipe out everyone's labor markets, well, then they're gonna' pay for it! If they want to turn around and put big export tariffs on their finished goods exports, well, then China may no longer be able to cut the legs out from under competition from national markets with more civilized labor practices. Win-win.

ETA - Import tariffs on manufactured goods only hurt businesses internally by driving up the cost to do business. Drop the import tariffs and impose export tariffs. That way the money never goes off-shore. China will then be forced to adjust their pricing accordingly, and the competitive marketplace will be on a more level playing field.

Yeah nothing to do eith the fact we knew about this virus way before it hit our countries. Suppose it's China fault that leaders like Trump and Boris Johnson did not take it seriously at first.

If there's an American Congressional investigation... they won't have to threaten America.

The Mandarins who have completely infiltrated the American political class, mostly the left, but MANY on the "right", will make sure America loses out and China is given the soft glove treatment.

Remember... this Bad Orange Man DEMANDING that China start following the existing regulations on trade, and taking retaliatory action when the WTO won't enforce the rules that they already have on the books... was spun by Wall Street and the Davos crowd as a "trade war".

In other words... wanting China to adhere to the EXISTING rules that everyone including China agreed to, in order to get "most favored nation" trading status, is considered a "trade war" by those who have made trillions of dollars in the last 30 years through hollowing out American manufacturing and destroying the Blue Collar middle class.

Ironically Australia and New Zealand both also closed all travel from China and other foreigners. But they were not accused of "being racists" since both of these countries are very left-wing. Anyway, just like Iran did, China wants any investigation into how COVID-19 was released shut down not just because they were studying COVID-19, since information about them studying this disease has been known for quite a while and it was public knowledge. But it's very possible that they in fact could have released the virus on purpose.

Why would they release it on purpose? Why would they want to mess up the world's economy, one thst their own economy relies on so much? It makes no sense at all.
