Tokyo, Japan update. September 9, 2020

13 people died today in Japan from the virus.
507 new cases today reported
202 severe cases nation wide have been reported.
Tokyo had 149 cases

Do you shut down the country ? NO

The good news here is the politians are working with businesses and not working against them.
Japan gives the people the right to do what they want to do with little or no restrictions but they do listen to the government and so far it's not been a problem because with some leeway and understanding and love toward your own people you don't have to fight the government does not have to fight with the people it's very simple philosophy I wish America and Australia and all the other countries would have the same political ambition toward their own people but can it happen I don't know.

I haven't posted on the coronavirus for quite a while actually but I would like to update you on a family situation. My 89-year-old mother has the covid-19 virus and she's in a care center.
She's doing fine as I understand from my family members they're in the states so I just thought I'd let you know that it we all can become very personal and have a connection with this coronavirus.

Numbers Update for Europe, and Elsewhere (No BNO) :

New Deaths :

New Cases :

Snapshot of France :

So, French Numbers have been going well up for a month now, and still climbing.
Deaths not following the curve, so far.
It's not like we're going to suddenly stop the spread now.
Public transport here is not capable of distancing any more.
It would seem almost everyone is back in work, and the Kids are all going about there School business.

Some Hospitals in the south, and south east are getting more patients, but afaik they are mostly older people being infected by younger people.
They are not super worried about beds yet.
The govt is mainly worried about the cases, and how many might translate to Hospital admissions.

We'll see what happens over time.
To me this looks like Spanish Flu over again (just not the Flu but a Corona) and it could be up to two years.
Seeing how well we're doing now, it might take 3 or more to get back to any sort of 'normal', if we ever do.

Its more likely here to stay, until it peters out, if it ever does.

It’s been a test to prepare the global population for something far worse than a virus.

A test to see how compliant major population centres would be.

TDawg was right, this is the ‘dry run’.

What would that be though? There's not much worse than this to really break down society in many ways - it has changed the way people interact, the way they live and work, people have lost their livelihoods ... the only thing worse is war

New Cases (France is #4, yay) :

www.worldometers.info...

Colombia is High up in the Tables on both New Cases and New Deaths.
Hope they get help from their neighbours to deal with it.

Home Stuff :

A "Left Baggage" stalled the RER this evening (frequenecy of F-Ups on Fridays is in the 1000%...) caused a backlog, so lots of people were squished into a couple of trains.
Not too bad, could have been much worse.
But, Sh!t happens, an dwhen it does, a LOT of people get very close.
Then the spread will happen quick.

Do remember that we are talking about 5-9 strains here.
Well spread around the globe already, with global variations.

"Clade View" ;

"Emerging Clade View" :

Basically, this is just like the "Spanish Flu" from 1918, except is a Coronavirus, not so easy to Vaccinate.
Reading up on the Spanish Flu, and that it took Two years (2) to get, sort of over it, is good info.
We still have remnants now.

I'm repeating myself, but I see batsh!t crazy stuff every day...

Yeah, we're like the "Poster Boy" for Europe atm.

They've announced stuff for Bordeaux and Marseilles, but nothing for Ile-de-France, which is also Red on the indicators.

We'll see what happens before monday...

10K for a Saturday is a first for France, or many places.
Must say that there have been probably 10x as many tests in the last 2 weeks than in the last 2 months.
"Back to school" and all that..

It's when the Hospitals start having trouble when you have to start worrying.
We are still worst off in Europe atm.
We'll see what happens/is announced.

First day of school for my kids ... In a typical year, nearly two-thirds of the nation’s 50 million public schoolchildren woould have returned to their classrooms by the third week of August. Not all have returned full time and I'm assuming those who have returned are practicing a performance of social distancing and awareness.

My kids can't go to school unless they bring a parent written note every day stating they don't have covid. Once in their classrooms there three rows of desks every hour for 10 minutes the kids in the first and last row (and the teacher) are allowed to take their masks off. The middle row gets to take their 10 minute turn when the other group has had their 10 minutes.

Since parent written notes and 10 minutes no virus zones are just window dressing and since some schools have been open for longer than 14 days has there been any new hot spots created at schools?

Little snippet from the Guardian today, with some interesting numbers for France :

Although France says it is carrying out about 1m tests a week, the increase in infections is outstripping the increase in testing. The rate of positive tests has risen to 5.4%, with the rise in new cases especially marked among young adults, many of whom show no symptoms, health experts say.

Olivier Véran, France’s health minister, has warned that the current rate of infections – growing by 30% a week, with hospital admissions increasing by 15% a week – could lead to hospital intensive care units being overwhelmed with new patients within two months.

Marseille is worse off than Bordeaux, but Paris is worse off than Bordeaux as well.
Only Paris hasn't introduced new measures (yet).
The train was packed again this evening.

They announced that quietly months ago...
I think it's a way around the rules of PPE possibly.. or lack of thereof (or was at the time)

Also surely one would think that if it is not as dangerous as initially thought, then why the crazy restrictions etc.

Still, this makes no sense to me. On the one hand I can see it is a serious illness for the minority, but as far as we know, it is not deadly to the majority. So why is the world going insane over it? The restrictions on freedom and movement are quite staggering, and yet - over here in the UK our hospitals were never really overwhelmed - they were actually pretty quiet. There was a huge build up at the time, we were expecting queues outside hospitals and a literal tornado of it and it never transpired... field hospitals were put together costing huge sums and barely saw any patients... so odd.
I'm not denying Covid is a thing, it's just that the reaction to it seems unwarranted and overblown.
I haven't looked into cases and info for a while, but out of the new cases are they giving information as to who is hospitalised? As i feel that that is the main issue - the most serious of cases. Because if it is only a tiny percentage then surely that is in line with other illnesses such as the flu, which does hospitalise some people.
Granted we don't know enough about Covid to truly say it is 'just a flu' (which it clearly isn't from all accounts) but do people feel we are overreacting to this now?
Would love to hear anyone's thoughts now we are in September!
