it's so funny watching people that turn the corner in a isle and they just stop like deer in headlights when they see they are to close to you . The 6 feet thing is total bull considering a sneeze or cough travels like 30 feet and lingers in the air .

That is really interesting hearing how other people in the USA are acting, The Media really gets in some peoples heads .

Where I am its Business as usual , a lot of businesses are closed yes but it makes no real difference . People are out walking , communicating , I see people physically embracing i.e. shaking hands , hugging .

And yes the six feet rule is ridiculous and useless, this virus is very contagious it seems to be capable of infecting people just by being in the same building as they are, Much less having to make physical contact.

I'm starting to wonder why NYC got hit so hard, Now I understand NYC is a massive city of 6-million citizens crammed in into a small area, and the amount of air travel into NYC is tense . Now taking all that into account, I still ask why ? There are plenty of other large cities, Atlanta the largest air hub in the USA , Chicago, Boston, Houston, LA though LA is pretty spread out but still the list goes on Seattle , Portland .

Over half the infected and Fatalities from Covid-19 in one city seems kind of un-balanced almost intentional if you will.

Did it though, the whole world seems to be balancing out about the same time , New Zealand is not the only one.

Its almost like the virus just ran its course or something regardless of quarantines or panicked media's ...weird right? I guess we will never know.

Sure worked for NZ

I have read a few times that the higher 'payload' of the virus you get the worse you are.
Meaning, if you get infected from 1 person, you get 1 dose. but interact with 5 people who are infected, you get 5x the dose.

This is why i think that air-planes, cruise ships, hospitals etc are the hotshots.. lots of infections mingling with other infections

I think this is one of the bizarre parts in all of this. Though, I suppose it didnt start with covid..

People like Tedros' history is there, not particularly difficult to find.

WHO funding is there, not particularly difficult to find.

The folks in high places praising the CCP's initial actions still gives me chills. Many just seemed to buy into it.

And on and on.. At least, that stuff isnt particularly hard to find right now. I dont think they even need to hide it though.

I'm in the age demographic that does poorly if they get a sever case of covid19.

Both my wife and I are sheltering in place. We have only been to the store for groceries twice and we do follow the directions about sanitizing the cart and not touching our face while we go to the store.

When we get home we also follow the directions for how to unpack and store the groceries and then finally wash our hands. Most people were wearing masks.

While I understand the distrust of the government that is evident on this site, I don't think you could have so many physicians on the TV trying to pull off a scam as is being suggested by the OP. I tend to believe the doctors and other medical personal.

I personally choose to error on the side of caution. If I'm wrong, then my wife and I have gotten to spend a lot of quality time together. If I choose to violate the shelter in place guidelines, then I can lose my life, my kids lose their dad and my grand kids lose their grandpa.

I don't think that you should try to influence people to make a potentially foolish choice although you can make decisions for yourself. Just try not to infect and kill some innocent old person.

The problem is some of those people could be asymptomatic and unwittingly spreading it and because of their recklessness people that are immunocompromised and the elderly would be in grave danger.

Imagine how much quicker we could flatten the curve if people could follow the advice of doctors and scientists instead of blowhards like Trump who if it were up to him would have everybody acting like there is nothing to worry about.

Look at Boris Johnson who was bragging about continuing to shake hands and not adhering to social distancing, he is in intensive care with the virus as we speak.

Trump has never said it is nothing to worry about. If anything he is way way too convinced it is super deadly.

It's not just about you. If you get the virus and beat it, then that's great. If you get the virus and spread it, then this is what you should be thinking about, who you may be infecting.

It seems to be a pattern on this site. People like the poster above, I bet have not been in contact with the virus, or know no one who suffered with it.

If someone in your family had it seriosly, would you still be writing a post like this? Of course you would not.

I am not really concerned about me getting the virus. I am more concearned who I may give it to.

Jay it's safe to say it's been proven that our " Quarantine " did very little to nothing . Not sure how many stories I've read about people in isolated situations impossibly contracting Covid-19. From the towns in Italy on complete zero contact, zero monvement lock down and still the Virus burned through the town, to stories of people in isolated Amazonian villages contracting the Virus .

Our Global reaction to this virus was pointless, the Economies tanked and for what ?

It is the Hubris of Humanity that is to blame for thinking that they can control a force of nature , this Virus was going to kill , spread and accomplish its mission set out by nature regardless of what we did.

If the government said you can't you wouldn't be.
The government made suggestions to stop the spread. They didn't order any quarentine.
Good thing some folks actually took it seriously so you can go out and play with your friends.

this isnt over hyped
its real
.. before you go spreading your ill-wisdom and putting people at risk it might pay to have evidence of your claims, not just ''hey i went out and didnt get sick its all a load of crap'' theory

I'm starting to suspect that those who are cheerleading for us to ignore pandemic precautions have their own little desks in St Petersburg. Sure sounds traitorous to me.

I think in Argentina did worked. We have closed borders and schools since March 15 and nation-wide mandatory lockdown since March 20 with 1,975 confirmed cases, 82 deaths and 375 recovered. We are 44 million people so I think that numbers without lockdown could have been horrible worst.
In a side note, we are not testing that much people so confirmed cases are absolutely under reported, BUT for example in my province we have just 1 confirmed case and no deaths, more than 700 suspected cases were quarantined before the lockdown and even though we couldn’t say they were all positives, without quarantine and lockdown some if not all would have infected so much people that the numbers couldn’t have remain so low because deaths and critical people in a small town like mine it is impossible to hide, and just quarantine without lockdown I think wouldn’t have worked because much of that quarantined didn’t obey the order the mandatory 14 days and police was send to their homes.
My two cents.

It seems to be a fairly consistent mindset amongst a certain segment of society.
