Found this article posted online and it is a summary of the theory behind the altitude sickness thing that goes into more detail than the doctor video (the one in scrubs) before.
Weirdly this has been deleted from medium.com for violating their terms?!

But available on webarchive

Covid-19 had us all fooled, but now we might have finally found its secret.

In the last 3–5 days, a mountain of anecdotal evidence has come out of NYC, Italy, Spain, etc. about COVID-19 and characteristics of patients who get seriously ill. It’s not only piling up but now leading to a general field-level consensus backed up by a few previously little-known studies that we’ve had it all wrong the whole time. Well, a few had some things eerily correct (cough Trump cough), especially with Hydroxychloroquine with Azithromicin, but we’ll get to that in a minute.

There is no ‘pneumonia’ nor ARDS. At least not the ARDS with established treatment protocols and procedures we’re familiar with. Ventilators are not only the wrong solution, but high pressure intubation can actually wind up causing more damage than without, not to mention complications from tracheal scarring and ulcers given the duration of intubation often required… They may still have a use in the immediate future for patients too far to bring back with this newfound knowledge, but moving forward a new treatment protocol needs to be established so we stop treating patients for the wrong disease.

The past 48 hours or so have seen a huge revelation: COVID-19 causes prolonged and progressive hypoxia (starving your body of oxygen) by binding to the heme groups in hemoglobin in your red blood cells. People are simply desaturating (losing o2 in their blood), and that’s what eventually leads to organ failures that kill them, not any form of ARDS or pneumonia. All the damage to the lungs you see in CT scans are from the release of oxidative iron from the hemes, this overwhelms the natural defenses against pulmonary oxidative stress and causes that nice, always-bilateral ground glass opacity in the lungs. Patients returning for re-hospitalization days or weeks after recovery suffering from apparent delayed post-hypoxic leukoencephalopathy strengthen the notion COVID-19 patients are suffering from hypoxia despite no signs of respiratory ‘tire out’ or fatigue.

Here’s the breakdown of the whole process, including some ELI5-level cliff notes. Much has been simplified just to keep it digestible and layman-friendly.

Also an article here about holding back on the use of ventilators

Intensive care doctors question 'overly aggressive' use of ventilators in coronavirus crisis

British and American intensive care doctors at the front line of the coronavirus crisis are starting to question the aggressive use of ventilators for the treatment of patients.

In many cases, they say the machines – which are highly invasive and require the patient to be rendered unconscious – are being used too early and may cause more harm than good. Instead they are finding that less invasive forms of oxygen treatment through face masks or nasal cannulas work better for patients, even those with very low blood oxygen readings.

Dr Ron Daniels, a consultant in critical care at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, on Thursday confirmed reports from US medics that he and other NHS doctors were revising their view of when ventilators should be used.

At the heart of the issue was the "bizarre" and "frankly baffling" phenomenon of Covid-19 patients presenting with catastrophically low blood oxygen levels but few other ill effects.

"We've had patients with oxygen measures of just five kilopascals [70-75 per cent of normal] who are talking to us normally and have no obvious air hunger [gasping for breath]”, said Dr Daniels. "Normally anyone with numbers like that would be ventilated, but increasingly with Covid patients we are considering holding back.

Well I know that I might be wrong wrt Altitude Sickness, but the attitude of the healthcare system here is: Ring the health service, then we'll tell you to stop at home and see how it goes.

Only if it gets bad will they get you to hospital, by which time it's probably cutting it a bit fine.

Soooo.... I've used an online prescription service to get some appropriate medication (Acetazolamide).

If I get crocked I can't see it being any worse to experiment on myself with this than to sit there doing nothing.

Whole thing made a mockery of the prescription service though, normally you have (in the UK) to go to a doctor and they'll only prescribe you what they think you need.

With this they ask you loads of questions, you give them the answers they want to hear and they give it to you, albeit that it's a bit more expensive.

For example - what mountain are you planning on climbing - me - (a specific) one in Pakistan; What altitude will you be climbing to - me: "I gave the height on Wikipedia.

The highest altitude I can realistically go to is the top of the stairs.

One thing I did notice - I found 1 place I could get this, all of the others were sold out/none in stock.

Make of that what you will.

Buying Meds online could be literally anything.
I'd get the meds checked to see if they are real before I'd take anything.
Last thing you want is to be putting poison into your body (no one to claim a refund).

Can you PLEASE stop posting post after post after post of screenshots of worldometers etc.

It's continuously changing anyway, but we're all going there and looking at it as well.

You're adding othing, you're just clogging the boards up with meaningless nonsense.

The reality is that as the death toll mounts, the governments will do everything to fudge the numbers, in places like Ecuador
they literally have nowhere to put bodies.

Horrible news from Brazil. I feared this could happen I hope it doesn't go out of control:

Source in english, by google translate

A young boy of 15 years old from the amazonian tribe Yanomami has died because of the Coronavirus.

He spent week in the ICU. He died of serious respiratory complications this Thursday.

This is horrible. Most of the Brazilian tribes have been isolated from the world for so long that they lack immunity to a lot of diseases that are normal for us.

From link:

A Yanomami rights group said the young man had come into contact with "many" other indigenous people after he started showing symptoms.

The Hutukara Association blamed the child's death for "inadequate medical care," saying that he spent more than two weeks without a proper diagnosis from the first time he went to the hospital with respiratory symptoms. He asked the authorities to track them down and help them undergo testing and self-isolation.

He also urged the government to crack down on illegal gold miners on indigenous lands, believed to be the source of the contagion.

"There is great fear that this disease will come, cause an outbreak in (indigenous) communities and lead to mass genocide."

That may be the group, Ethnos 360 who insist on contacting the tribes in order to evangelize them (in spite of the tribes asking that they be left alone.)

Ethnic peoples everywhere are at a huge risk - including people on reservations here in the US.

Didn't know about that particular group, doesn't surprise me they try and try to do that. To bad we can't swear here. But by saying that, you know what I think about them and probably you stay short. Damn, now I'm very angry.

Dallas and Texas updates

Texas

8 p.m. April 9,
at least 11,671 coronavirus cases in Texas.
226 reported deaths
1,532 patients are known to be hospitalized.

At least 115,918 tests have been run.

It's the last item that's significant. There was a sudden jump in the number of tests reported as being processed (1400 new test results) Previously we'd been processing around 900/1000 per day.

Dallas
Confirmed: 1,537
Deaths: 25

That's an increase of about 100... we've been increasing at a rate of about 100 new (confirmed) cases each day. But that's a jump of 3 deaths.

The VA says there's a confirmed 3,700 cases among military veterans (national numbers.) That's a jump of 700 cases.

Dallas area mayors are meeting, working on strategies for "what happens as the pandemic ends"

Had to do a fast run to Target and stopped at Rusty's Tacos for lunch. The counter staff at Rusty's is keeping the place clean and distancing customers... but they don't seem to be taking personal protection (masks) though they wear the standard food prep gloves.

Target's been giving hazard pay to their employees. My Target treats its staff well. The meat department is building back up though some areas are well browsed over. There's empty shelves though not as many as before. Milk was almost completely sold out.

Only one in fifteen people wore masks or had gloves (and this included Target staff.)

As I walked in, I overheard three women talking. One said "the hand of God is on us all. I don't fear death. If God wants to take me, it's his will." ... and of course none were wearing masks. I thought of the "I sent you two boats and a helicopter" story -- recently saw it rewritten as "I sent you health officials, scientists, and doctors".

There's been a 40% spike in cardiac deaths at home during the past 2 months in New York City and it's fairly clear that these represent uncounted coronavirus deaths>

A doctor at NYC's Bellview Hosptial bought 650 android tablets so that coronavirus patients dying alone could see their loved ones and their families could talk to them.

And then there's more news about preacher Tony Spell who runs a Louisiana megachurch. He is calling for 2,000 church members to show up on Easter Sunday “Satan and a virus will not stop us,” Rev. Tony Spell told Reuters. “God will shield us from all harm and sickness. We are not afraid. We are called by God to stand against the Antichrist creeping into America’s borders. We will spread the Gospel.” I think he's a horrible man and a danger to his congregation and their communities.

Florida's governor DeSantis wants to open public schools because "kids don't get the virus." I have no idea who he thinks will teach kids and run the school and do the janitorial services and serve and cook food, etc, etc. Kids?
