You simply cannot plan in advance for something like this.

I'm going to suggest that we COULD have prepared for something like this. In fact, 5 years ago Bill Gates gave a speech on our woeful unpreparedness for exactly this scenario. Had we listened, things might be a little different now. It's worth a watch.

We're basically at 500,000 confirmed cases right now.
The number jumps are going so fast now... not that they are accurate. But hey, just thought I'd note it all the same.

Dry lips anyone? Hearing more and more from clients, students (and their clients) and friends on Facebook. Digging around to see what the cause is and if there is a connection.
I have a client in London with symptoms, but instead of a cough they have hiccups!

Sorry if this is not right place but just wanted to put this out there........

I just got word that one of our guys working in the field (at a hospital) was possibly exposed to coronavirus. A hospital employee in the area that he has been working for the last month has self isolated now after his adult daughter (the daughter lives with him and his wife) has tested positive.
We told our guy to go home and self isolate. His wife works at a nursing home.
It is getting closer to home all the time.
.

My sister's best friends mom is a nurse and was exposed to a positive patient last Friday. She then saw her daughter on Saturday who then hung out with my sister. They are testing her mom this Friday. So yeah, very close to home. I'm hoping that was too soon for any spread but with this virus who knows...

It's hard to keep up. I keep hearing of many cases that all have different types of symptoms, yet they are still positive with covid-19

I went for a drive down a major road here in the Kansas City area around 9:30am this morning. Haven't been outside the house for 48 hours, minus for a quick walk around the block a few times. The sun was out today so was pumped about that.

It reminds me of Christmas Day at 6am. It is like a ghost town out there, minimal traffic on the road, and the only thing different from Christmas is the horde of cars at grocery stores and hospitals.

We are just starting in day 3 of the shelter-in-place.

Looks like we might surpass China today in cases.

China fudged a little too much on their numbers, me thinks. lol.

My husband has been experiencing this hiccups thing for the last few days. His throat is itchy, everytime he tries to cough he hiccups instead.

Does anyone know if you had H1N1 if it gives you any kind of immunity to this?

Holly cow, that is so strange you mention that. My mother was just going all over the house looking for chap stick. I also noticed my wife had a cracked lip this morning.

That is strange.

I'm wearing my P100 when I go out now (rarely), bright pink filter housing with yellow bands, quite striking, only gone out twice with it.

I live in the heart of Sydney, Australia, and i do get some interesting looks. Anger, ridicule, fear, consideration and pure denial are all apparent on different people's faces when they see the mask.

The denial ones are the funniest, their gaze magically slides around you, deftly avoiding even an instant of eye contact... not happening, not happening, not happening...... lol

There are probably about 200,000 people in a 200 metre radius of my house, and I'm still seeing lots of people out, maybe keeping a bit of distance but generally not too concerned (idiots... it's alright, statistically they are the first 60% who will get this), and less than 10% wearing masks.

Interesting times!

Stay safe! That is the most important part. Use the P100 if you have to.

I might be going out later today. I am expecting a large check in the mail, to do with my business, so I will have to take that to the drive thru at the bank.

I wonder how the bank employees would react to seeing someone in a respirator?

We will hit 70,000 confirmed cases in the US, and 500,000 confirmed cases globally later today (we're at 69,000-something in US and 490,000-something globally at the current time)

That was fast

Geez, an hour & a half after your post and we're now over 75,000 and not all states have weighed in for the day.

We are at 75k right now. I would say we will pass them later this afternoon.

Yes, I am sure they had way more than 81k.

More than likely not as they are two completely different kinds of virus, but I will defer to those who are on the thread with medical training.
