Home life hasn't changed at all. At work, they have now stopped all travel between the half dozen sites in the area and those considered non-essential to the day to day operational aspects are now working from home until further notice - all senior management, of course!
The site security team are required to carry out sanitization wipe-downs regularly of door handles, card readers and all other areas staff touch, every couple of hours day and night (not a large amount of foot traffic through those areas anyway!).

There are also plans in place in case they go to a lockdown scenario and they already asked for volunteers willing to remain on site for an extended period. Obviously the logistics piece around that would be a major task, even though we would only be looking at about a dozen people per site for that period. They haven't told us what the pay rate would be yet if that happened!

I went to Walmart and bought some supplies. They had toilet paper. A lot of toilet paper shelves looked like they were emptied out sometime last week but they were restocking.

I missed the beginning of the toilet paper crisis. I believe people are calming down now that toilet paper is available again. šŸ˜€

I was thinking, I'm not sick. I have a 99% chance the virus won't seriously affect me. I ordered pizza, drank some beer and went to church. I still feel fine. Drinking beer was a safety measure to help kill any nasty viruses. Miller lite, the cure for corona lite.

I haven't started but if it spreads out of control I will be using these devices.

Alternative ways of treating the Corona virus. I am not a doctor but I have been dabbling with this stuff for years. You are an adult and can decide for yourself if you want to try these methods.

1. Get an electrode type silver solution generator. Make sure it has a 1 mA current limiter and auto shut off when it reaches about 20 PPM. You can drink 8 ounces per day. ONLY USE DISTILLED WATER AND PURE SILVER.

2. Get a Nebulizer off of Ebay. Use it to breath the silver solution into your lungs and sinuses.

3. Get an ozone generator to put 03 into the air in your house. This will shorten the life span of any virus etc.

4. If you take at least 10,000 IU of vitamin D3 per day and eat right. Your immune system will be much better at fighting any virus off. You also should take 500mcg of K2 per day when taking that much D3. D3 can cause the body to absorb too much calcium. Without enough K2 this can be harmful.

I have now stopped eating out, which I used to do 2 - 3x/week. I am no longer going to a social club. I'll be making my husband breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, when he used to eat out. I can't make him stop eating out altogether (yet), but if it decreases the number of times he may be exposed, it decreases it. I'm going to try to get three annual medical visits that occur in April moved to sometime soon or postponed until Fall. If I can't get them postponed, I'll be showing up in mask, gloves and goggles. Or full face shield. I'll try not to have a, "kiss my a**" attitude if anyone looks at me wrong, but I can't make promises.

I'll only be going out to pick up groceries (not shop, just pick up). I'll wash well after handling the groceries and let everything sit for at least 9 hours before using it.

I'm a 62 y/o immunosuppressed kidney transplant recipient. I decided to pull the above trigger when NY State also declared a State of Emergency, Italy banned even weddings and funerals, and when I saw the American Hospital Association's stats. Also based on the fact that TD and one or two more have already bugged out. It didn't help, either, when I saw the quote from one professional that she expects all US hospital beds to be filled by May 8. Our local hospitals (and we have at least ten) could barely handle the flu season last year. This is not going to be good.

I don't know if these steps will protect me or not. I saw first-hand with giardia that if something is really infectious, good luck. It can still get you even when you do everything in your power to prevent it. At least I will have tried. I have cats I want to keep alive, and I don't want to suffer like I did in 2005 when I nearly died from a nosocomial MRSA infection.

So for all the freak out on the subject of Coronavirus - are any of you actually doing things differently because of it?

I actually tried to buy face masks a month ago. Only to find that they were sold out and the back orders were not going to be put on shelves. That freaked me out. So I gave up on that.

Then I started buying a little extra Lysol and hand sanitizer. Only to find that the stores are now sold out. That kind of irked me because I regularly use Lysol as my daily cleaner and now I can't find it. So my attempt to keep a little stocked up is failing.

I still have a few extra bottles of hand sanitizer, but some stores have been sold out for 2-3 weeks. So I opted to make my own hand sanitizer, only to find that difficult. Went to 6 stores only to find them sold out of Isopropyl alcohol, sold out of witch hazel, sold out of aloe vera gel, all the necessary components to make your own hand sanitizer. Finally found a store that had all the ingredients, so I stocked up. Made my own hand sanitizer. I have enough for a month.

Then since I couldn't find Lysol spray. I opted for Microban spray, which has made some of the recommended lists.

Last week, I stocked up on 3 weeks worth of food and a little extra toilet paper. A little extra bottles water.

I guess in light of watching so many supplies disappear from the shelves for weeks at a time, I figured it would be best to stock up what I can.

I generally am prepared for a zombie apocalypse to break out at any given time and have a decent loadout of survival supplies in the basement. All kidding aside - survived a tornado in my hometown a long time ago so I'm just always prepared for situations where the infrastructure or normal civilian life could go down and you have to fend for yourself for awhile.

Things I'm doing differently for this particular situation:

- We generally have a well stocked pantry of nonperishable and frozen goods but have added to that with more canned food and bottled water than usual. Enough for more than a few weeks. Same with basic toiletries, hygiene products and prescription meds that we need.
- Avoiding unnecessary public exposure altogether (eating out, church, movies or shows).
- EXTRA careful when making mandatory trips in public (groceries, gas stations). Not touching face and immediately washing hands or just stripping at the door and taking a shower upon returning home.
- I work from home anyway so work life doesn't change. Wife's workplace is cancelling all unnecessary travel.
- We're supposed to make a road trip a few states away next week to visit family, but considering postponing that. Not worth the risk of exposure that would go along with that sort of trip (rest stops and gas stations along the interstate, eating out, hotel, etc.).
- The virus's main "treatable at home" symptoms seem to be sore throat and fever so we are keeping some extra cough syrup, ibuprofen and Mucinex on hand to treat the symptoms should one or both of us become infected. We usually have this on hand anyway but did pick up extra cough syrup just in case the stores are out by the time we actually would need it.
- We both already take a crap ton of vitamins and supplements ... theoretically our immune symptoms should be in decent shape... but will continue to do so and stocked up on extra in case we can't get out to buy more.
- I've bookmarked several of the local news outlets and local public health departments online resources so we can keep an eye on what's going on locally. Not just the national stuff but the local health departments. So far they've been pretty good about making themselves available and putting out information.

My wife is pregnant. Although we're both seemingly healthy, it's just not worth the risk since we still seem to be seeing through a glass darkly on just how lethal this virus really is and especially with my wife already being a bit immunocompromised due to the pregnancy.

Would rather overreact and be wrong than try to play it cool and end up going out in the first wave.

Doing more of the usual suggestions, like practicing handwashing and trying to limit unnecessary gatherings.

On the health front, I've been drinking more kefir and prioritizing sleep.

Idk, I had prayed about this looking for some more esoteric help from above dealing with the uncertainty of the virus.

Strangely enough, I was reminded of Urine Therapy. I used this with much success in my youth to clear up my really bad case of acne, and have practiced this on and off over the years.I started up again a few weeks back and have been feeling good. Imo, it helps boost the immune system, and iirc may even contain stem cells. God willing, this will help me weather the virus a little better. Time will tell.(I'll keep our community informed)

Oil pulling and picking up some fresh ingredients to cook up Lipo C are also on the agenda.

We are not doing anything different. Not that we should not take this seriously, we already practice everything they deem we should be doing right now ...... social butterflies we are not haha

One week ago, we had the first case in our town. Three days later it was up to 22 and 1 death. We began cleaning everything with alcohol many times a day at work. I work at a language school with 200 students. Three students were confirmed by today, and I just got the notice that the country is under quarantine as of this evening. All non essential business must close.

I've got food, toilet paper, and more importantly cat food. Recently divorced, far from my kids and any other family members, I've completely absorbed myself in work, so I have no idea what life is going to be like for the next week! I guess kitty and I are going to drive each other up the wall in our appartment.

Actually, I have this guilty suspicion we might have had it. Our manager took a trip to the Philippines and Japan. Flew a bit all over Asia. The day he came back to work he said he caught a bug on the plane home - he came into work sick. That afternoon, we began hearing about Corona virus on the news for first time. Two days later, me and one of the teachers were terribly sick. I had three days of being deliriously feverish in bed, then a sort of flu that didn't include any gastric symptoms or runny nose - mostly fever, a slight dry cough, and feeling dizzy and confused. At the time, we weren't taking this COVID thing seriously and never considered we might have it. I didn't even go see a doctor.

I wonder how many cases go undiagnosed?? I kinda hope I had it and am done with it, but really hope I didn't just help spread it...

I went to two different grocery stores. The local Walmart was decimated of all toilet paper, almost all paper towels, many cleaning supplies. I wanted to buy a few extra small cans of pork and beans. Last week the local Walmart had plenty. Today it was all gone. I went to Food Lion, a smaller store and bought some. I also bought some more beer. I also bought some paint and more cleaning supplies since I am trying to prepare my old house and clean it up. This is the wrong time in my opinion to buy up all the supplies on a shelf. A little bit extra I think is ok but if your neighbor has to do without because a few too many bought everything, that is not good. I believe toilet paper is made in the US. If you really get in a jam, you could try hooking up a garden hose or get in the shower and spray. I don't want to start using a bidet if the stores sell those here. Could save a lot of money on toilet paper though.

I wonder if there will be a run on wash rags now? If you had enough, you could run them in the washing machine. Assuming you have enough soap. The tide free was all gone in Walmart except for one super big bottle. Food lion was still well stocked. I bought a small bottle.

Stocked up without being a hoarder.
Washing my hands more.

I am still going out, but going out less. I work from home for a few years. I tried to leave the house at least once a day to run errands, etc and just get some air. Now I'm just batching my errands and doing everything in one day a week.

I am ordering in more and either picking up or having it delivered. I want to help keep the cash flow going to our local restaurants.

It was a beautiful day in New York today. While taking the kids to their dance class it would have been easy to forget about the coronavirus. Out in real life people where going about their business as normal.

On social media; many people where freaking out. Most especially teachers in NYC; there not happy Deblasio hasn't closed the schools.

However last night while we where out for our normal Friday night restaurant dinner it felt more like a monday than a Friday.

one thing i'm doing different is listening to informative dialogue on the Virus out there that can kill

I did hear that if your over 60-ish, you will be passed over for any medical treatments
they rather use the resources on younger persons

here's a podcast that is deep... concerning the pathogen attacking us now: (some 50 minutes long audio)

I went back and read my previous posts now that some time has elapsed to see if my views have changed - and there are a few changes.

1. Thereā€™s now very little to do. Most events are shut down. The places I go regularly (work/gym/golf club/couple of favorite restaurants) are closed. As are all of my kids activists. It also happens to be unseasonably cold right now - so weā€™re inside today after being out in the snow yesterday. Weā€™re ā€œself-quarantinedā€ because there isnā€™t much to do that isnā€™t this.

2. The economic situation is going to get worse but not the full implosion some predicted. Many stores are closed but also many employers are proving paid leave or allow people to work from home. The real issue here will be for brick and mortar retailers. I still see outdoor jobs (construction for instance) humming along and work being done. I bet we can economically survive for 2-4 weeks like this before material damage is done. Drag this out further and weā€™re goin go have problems.

3. Schools are closed - which is going to exacerbate the potential negative economic consequences if this goes on for an extended period of time. Itā€™s also highly problematic for those who canā€™t work from home.

4. The stores are finally getting empty. Both the WalMart and a local grocery store are running low on lots of things. Every grocery store in my area is closing tonight at midnight for at least 5 hours to restock stores and disinfect. One of the store employees this morning didnā€™t sound super optimistic about how much back stock they had for a lot of things - hesitant to give reassurances that they would really be able to ā€œre stockā€ most things. Fortunately - I have about 6 weeks of food on hand if we start eating stuff that we donā€™t normally (dry goods/more fattening/less healthy options).

5. The millennial generation (younger millennials) are starting to freak the F out about this. Outrage culture all over again. They all expect the government/employer/ to cater to their fears and solve their problem. The lack of self reliance and whining is concerning.

6. This has made me reflect on how truly reliant I am on many services. Iā€™ve always known that, but this makes you truly aware of how much you engage with the work around you when you canā€™t - and how many things you really canā€™t do without the help of others. Starting to think through how I can be less dependent on others in general - at least to the extent my suburban existence can allow for that.

7. Iā€™m not the only one inside. Traffic has gotten way lighter. After that guy in the Midwest got put on lockdown with the cops out front after not wanting to be stuck in the hospital itā€™s probably safe to say ā€œI spent 2 weeks inside with minimal activityā€ and thus reducing the soon-to-be draconian measures or public shaming that is to follow.

So at this point am I personally doing anything differently? Not by choice. Things are different because of the world around me.

Oh and Iā€™m otherwise feeling more run down by virtue of being inside than anything to do with the virus.

I'm forced to do different things not because of the virus but because of idiots overreacting to the virus. I would prefer just to live life as usual but then I go to a store where the shelves are empty, and suddenly that's not an option.

I had to modify my shopping habits to pick from the leftovers and go to different stores where I never ordinarily shop to find basics. I considered filling my cart but resisted. I expect the gym I go to to close. I'm trying to stay normal but when the governor starts shutting down restaurants and bars there goes a lot of my entertainment.

How long will this last? We should be working on dialing back the panic, not increasing it.
We need to mock the overreactors, not reward them.
