First case registered in Brazil

The information was confirmed with a source involved in the process. Earlier, the man had tested positive for the virus at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, in São Paulo, and had been subjected to the control test at the Aadolfo Lutz Institute, the result of which should be announced on Wednesday (26) by the Ministry of Health.

With that, Brazil becomes the first country in Latin America with a confirmed case of the new virus that has already killed 2,708 people in the world. We are a family owned and operated business.

Andre, what is your take on Brazil's readiness to face this outbreak?

Cheers

I don't understand one thing. Why is it kicking off so fast right now? I mean, CoVid has been in China since December. Surely it didn't take almost 3 months to reach Europe with the speed that its spreading now?
Imagine how many Chinese that were infected traveled out of China to other parts of the world before we even heard about CoVid. How many business trips to China and back? Could it be that it already made its way here but people didn't think anything about it because it is the flu season so nothing uncommon in caughing and having a slight fever?

Perhaps it would be just great if the USA would lead by example.

Crikey mate, how touchy are you. It was just a question. And I am not ignorant.

My goodness how snappy this thread is.

Kind regards,

Vitamin D3 deficiency theory still holds some promise. There is so much we still don't understand about this.

Right idea wrong connection

The food industry is notorious for making people work when sick ... profit over all right

And the only thing standing between you and every other customers mouth is a minimum wage dishwasher

The food industry is gross and normaly I say it's best not to think about it but right now is not the time to live in blissful ignorance

I often rail about this and I get called a socialist for my trouble, who's bright idea was it to pay minimum wage to food handlers, and how stupid and arrogant does one need to be to further demean and belittle these minimum wage food handlers, and often while ordering food no less.....sigh..

Time to start taking bets on if the Olympics take place.

I'm guessing it will be postponed.

Nerves tensed up on Feb. 25 when news that the first recorded COVID-19 patient in Kumamoto Prefecture had attended a show by pop-punk band Wanima on Feb. 8 in Fukuoka. This revelation prompted the group to cancel a handful of upcoming dates, marking the first major domestic cancellations.

We now have a Committee for the Tokyo Olympics discussing the event. What they are discussing about has not been made public yet.

A highly infectious virus with a mortality rate of between 2-3% (conservative estimate if it doesn't mutate) that will eventually infect 70-80% of the global population tends to make one a little short on patience for people who keep trying to diminish the serious nature of this threat.

70% of 8,000,000,000 is 6,400,000,000
3% of 6,400,000,000 is 192,000,000

192 million people could die!

For those into stocks. Tokyo stocks continue to fall on coronavirus fears are real now I guess. The 225-issue Nikkei average on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 179.22 points, or 0.79 percent, to end at 22,426.19, after plummeting 781.33 points Tuesday.

The Topix index of all TSE first-section issues finished down 12.09 point, or 0.75 percent, at 1,606.17, after a 55.74-point tumble the previous day.

Three percent of 6.4 Billion is 192 million, not 9.2 million.
