Looks like it’s a felony if that’s the case congressional immunity won’t apply .

(a) Whoever willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, or destroys, or attempts to do so, or, with intent to do so takes and carries away any record, proceeding, map, book, paper, document, or other thing, filed or deposited with any clerk or officer of any court of the United States, or in any public office, or with any judicial or public officer of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

Make her life a living hell for a change.

Edit;

Well at least I provided confirmation .lol,

I think it has a lot more to do with the manner she did it in front of the American people. Also it's said that's the official copy for the house. standard operating procedure is to bring on that one back to the house and archive it.

The Democrats like to say" no one is above the law." So if she broke a law I hope they stick it to her

I think you are right in many ways. The divide is not new. And yes, for now, the economy does present the impression that all is well. On some levels of course.
And while I recognize that the division is not new, what is is the inability of one side to communicate with the other. That is the job of politicians. People who have the skill and patience to work out those differences, those divides, and allow us to continue at least in the dream that we are one nation. This is what is breaking down.

Trump started that self congratulatory speech with a whopping lie. He had the balls to stand in front of that body and claim that the state of the union was stronger than it has ever been. What a whopper. The very fact that the vice president and the speaker of the house stood there waiting for Trump and never even looked at one another was more of an example of the state of the union than his lie. That she offered her hand to shake and was turned away from likewise is another example.

By that measure, every president in my lifetime has told at least a few "whoppers" in their SOTU. The idea is to present a positive statement, focusing on what is being done, rather than focusing on the negative. I do agree however, problems need to be acknowledged, not whitewashed, and FTR I would not have shaken her hand either.

Here is my state of the union. '' The union is divided and torn asunder'' We are no longer one nation, we are two nations, each with little understanding of the other. Our only recourse as individuals is to label the other side as demented and traitorous. We are right and they are wrong. I am right and you are wrong." That is my ''state of the union'' and much closer to the truth than his '' we are stronger than ever before.'' crap.

Granted, but our focus needs to be on the solutions, not the problems.

It's her own property. She can tear it up all she wants.

Oh, I forgot, Gaetz and a bunch here want to install a dictatorship.
a reply to: Klassified

Nothing in that room is her property. It is the property of the American people. She is a servant. There is no HRH before her name.

Kinda hard to "install" a dictatorship when the dictator has a term limit.

Who would want to live in a country where ripping up a printed piece of paper, surely there's orher copies, in an act of civil disobedience, classy or not, gets you charged, and the public crying for you to be tarred and feathered?

Wtf is going on with you guys? Are you okay?

Yah, I have no love for the ol' rummy Pelosi but even I think this is petty. This better not be the "pain coming" I've been promised. lol

A republican now using similar petty tactics the dems would use just to stir the pot..... And of course it's a good thing.

OK.

IF

What you say is true, then what should happen now? If she broke the law in front of Congress and the whole nation, what should be done to her. What should Trump do?

If indeed she did just step over the line from political defiance and into un-lawful action she should be prosecuted. Right?
She should be put on trial with the proof right there on video. Right? OK. We agree.

Her act was an act of defiance for sure. It was a gauntlet thrown down at the president. It should be clear cut. Trump should act. He should not let her slide, he should not allow that kind of illegal action to go un-prosecuted. Right?

So I say, go get her Trump, show us who is boss. Arrest her on suspicion and let her sit in a cell until her trial begins.

IF what you say is true.

Nope

To charge someone under the statute requires corrupt intent . I hardly think using a sharpie on a map in an effort to save people is corrupt intent .

Pelosi’s move was certainly angry and vindictive. So let’s see what happens there .

De Groat, 30 F. at 765; see also United States v. North, 708 F. Supp. 364, 369 n.3 (D.D.C. 1988) (citing De Groat and noting that § 2071 requires criminal intent)

Whether it's a good thing is debatable, but I do think it needs to be addressed.

I pay as little attention to sotu as I can. To me, it's all mostly BS as you say and has been that way for longer than I can remember, and I'm in my 70s.

But you are right, the sotu is a time for pleasantries, a time to tell the nation that we can work as one. She offered her hand and honestly that was a surprise to me. He didn't take it and to me that was not a surprise.

Then she tore up that paper. That was a surprise and I must admit I got a certain visceral charge from it and can understand her angst, but that was not the right thing to do at that time. It would have been better to continue to smile and shake his hand when it was all over.

Had she not torn up the speech she would have had a leg to stand on morally, but she did.

Thing with the hand shake is that he didn't shake Pence's hand either. So I'm not sure he intended to shake either hand. If you watch, you can make a case either way. He may not have seen her shoot her hand, and he may have and dissed her. He was already turning when the hand came out, so it could go either way with that call.
