Or acknowledge your actual fan base by sticking to the story.

And what would that ''fan base'' be. People who still thrill at the sight of Superman? From what I have seen, that ''fan base'' has not been supporting the franchise now for a number of Superman ''blockbusters.

I grew up with Superman. The Superman TV series of the fifties were on every week. Any time the older Superman ''cliff hanger ''movie house shows came on I watched it. When Superman hit the big screen again with Margo Kidder I was epileptic .

But then I grew out of it. So, I would say that anyone who still needs to have a ''white'' Superman needs to grow out of it and quit determining social and cultural conditions by fictional characters long over due for the vaults, needs to move on and find something else to fetishize about.

Just for the record, DC comics already did a black superman (kind of). After superman died fighting doomsday, one of the replacements was a black engineer, John Henry Irons aka Steel. They did a movie about him starring Shaq in 1997.

People over reacting to this stuff reminds me of when my grandmother thought that playing DnD would make me worship satan.

Blah blah blah.

There is no reason whatsoever to appease the rest of the world.

These movies are based on characters with a specific cultural heritage.

If DC has any sense they will take what Joker achieved and run with it.

Except DC didn't produce "Joker"

Warner Bros. did. And they did a great job. Largest grossing R rated film ever!

Why can't superman be black?

Him being white doesn't have anything to do with his story really, he can be black, I personally think Jordan is a fantastic choice and would love to see this take on the man of steel.

I am watching television for the first time in 2 + years while staying with a ill relative and WOW talk about programming , All her shows now feature about 30 + % of African origin actors with 70s afros , Even though the Uk only has about 8% of a African origin population ,Where are all the Asian and Indian and Polish people and accents that i see and here all the time are they being racist towards them, Same with the LGBT agenda in television land every street has at least 2-3 gay couples living there when in real life it is very rare to actually see this unless you live in a area known for it , Ditto the commercials every couple is a mixed race couple even in cartoon commercials and all the kids have the 70s afro hairdo's , Black male with a white female , where are all the Asian people they must feel very left out same with Muslim people yet i see them all the time around me in real life .

Thank G-d i am not a kid now as they are being programmed to hell

Well Superman is entitled to identify as a black Kryptonian but it's still a culturally inappropriate role.

Making him black doesn't add to the story either so why change him?
All hail diversity

Exactly it doesn't change a thing so why does it matter, Michale B Jordan is one of the very best action stars working right now, he is a perfect choice, I can't think of any one better. He also played Johnny Storm, don't remember people getting their racial nickers in a twist over that.

I also want to see Idris Elba as Bond because I think he would be an amazing Bond...not because he is black.

Nick Fury was originally white in the comics, don't remember people losing their # about diversity when Sam Jackson was cast.

And yes this happens the other way, what about Neeson playing Ra's Al Ghul, did you get up set at a white dude from Ireland playing a Asain character?

Superman might be black, who really cares, honestly unless you have some serious hang ups over race this just shouldn't matter.

What should matter is the question of if this is the best actor to play the role, black, white, doesn't matter, whose going to delver the best performance.

Sure it adds to story, Clark Kent doesn't need to be a shy & timid soyboy anymore... He can now be a streetwise tough guy with an attitude problem, who always has a funny come back to everything.

You are probably in the "minority" with your opinion...
And bond is still a white man...
007 is now a black woman..

But whatever..it's all opinions and when the box office numbers are posted we will see the truth.

Isn't making every black actor a streetwise tough guy with an attitude problem racial stereotyping?
Besides, superman is an Iowa farm boy with a big heart.

Yeah, that was kind of my point... Hollywood are one of the worst culprits when it comes to racial stereotyping.

Here's a novel idea, though it may be (gasp) racist or sexist. Why not instead of taking white characters and making them black or female, why doesn't hollywood create NEW characters? Or would that be to far out of a concept?

Hollywood is in lazy mode the same as always. they took silents redid them with sound. They've been doing it forever. No new ideas.
