Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but does that mean that Peter Paul (temporary) cannot send any U2U messages as well?

There is absolutely no reason peterpaul should be unable to u2u. I'm assuming he's not u2u'ing because he chooses not to.

Hopefully this thread can reach 100 pages before year end and we need to start the Civil War 2006 thread. As is this conversation seems to be about the thread and not the original topic. However, here is hoping for the big push for the next week.

Peter Paul, you registered at ATS at November 23, 2005. At this moment you have minus -183 ATS points, so indeed you have received a 'Penalty.'
But perhaps it is still possible to send U2U messages? I don't know, could you send me one?

[edit on 23-12-2005 by Roth Joint]

Any U2U messages I would send would mean that I would give away information that would not be availiable to the posters and readers on this string of events. That is not how I function nor is that my attitude. Whatever I have to say, be it in english or german is public domain. I have been challenged to a state of mind and my opinion and I have nothing to hide before the public. If I am granted the right to state my free opinion I wish not to hide any word I write. Everyone on this site is invited to read what I have to say. Overlord can accuse me of anything he might have in mind, but he has to put it up in front of you, whoever you might be. You that have the ability to read have also the abilty the judge me by the words I place here. You are now the witnesses amd I do not intend to change the rules.
ATS might think they have all the means to put me to the test. Well, then so let it be. But the exchange of words and their inner meanings depends on witnesses who have the abilities and the right put these words to the test. Therefore I will not hide behind U2U. What I have to say I will post here and nowhere else. Consider yourself a well selected jury. You decide and I welcome you all, whoever you may be.

If it is now that I have to defend myself or make my statement, then I wish not that a single word be lost or misinterpreted that I would like to place here for any man or woe-man to see. As long as Overlord doesn't have to pay my rent, my sociial insurance, my old age pension, he might as well call himself PHANTOMAS, the ENEMY of all mankind, the SHADOW OF DOUBT and ILLUSION. I couldn't care less. For me he is just someone who butted into this string and tried to make himself important. Apperently he is someone who is in charge of ATS. Who am I to know if he telling me the truth? I've never seen his qualifications nor met him in person. He could just as well be some PC software trying to make me believe he is something worth recognizing.
I could show him my qualifications any time I want to, but does anyone here think he would ever pay me for my services? He doesn't even know that he has had every chance in the world to look up my credentials via internet.
He is the boss of ATS and I have to tell how to make use a searchmachine? All he has to do is make use of what many of you do everyday.

I need a picture of this so called overlord. If he thinks he would like to be my boss, then you can tell him in your very own opinion, that I don't work for people that hide in the dark.
Thank you very much for the spiritual support you have been adding to this string. Roth, your translating machine works very well, but there are some terrible mistakes. Not your fault and nothing that can be corrected as soon as we have time to get it straight. Launchpad, you bear a weight that calls for friends to help you carry that load you're toting. If I can do something to lighten the burden you carry, then let me know. We have all together a mountain to climb and you already have invisible friends who are willing to share the load.
There are words I have left unspoken and unwritten. Those are the words I need never speak out because they are the the words that have already been written in the hearts of those who are meant to understand.
God bless ye all, where ever ye may be
Peter Paul

After being given an honest and open chance, this user is obviously more focused on disrupting this topic by turning the focus of discussion on himself.

I've placed a posting ban on his account until we sort things out.

There are no barriers for him being able to use our private message system. I'm sure we'll get this situation worked out one way or the other.

I know return you to your regularly scheduled John Titor Civil War discussion.

Only 8 days to go. Guess its really going to get bad fast. Oh wait, maybe just like the Y2K thing , maybe Titor really meant 2006. What a relief, this thread can now continue for another year

His direct reference: "There is a civil war in the United States that starts in 2005. That conflict flares up and down for 10 years."

Back in 2000, with the rise of a highly divisive political process, it wasn't such a bad guess. But... the Titor person is not alone in taking a stab at this kind of prediction, and won't be the last.

He, he, I predict that the civil war will start on new years eve.

I guess Titor still have some time before his prediction dies.

Or perhaps like any other prediction if may be off a couple of days or months.

So I guess many will look forward to next year Titor's civil war

I wouldn't think someone from the John Titor Research Project be quoting Titor in this thread lol.....you ATS dudes have done a very good job archiving this stuff.... two thumbs up www.abovetopsecret.com...

The above direct quote is from Titors 2005 not ours though, It is funny that you get caught up in the loop of this debate. You did say "We could go on and on in another round of back-and-forth mutual mental masturbations over the words of Titor and end up no where different than where we are now. " so true.................lol

Now for my mental masturbations lol.....

Ah...Quantum Paradoxes don't you just love' em

Dr Hugh Everett the III would laugh at the confusion in this thread, knowing that there could be a possible bleed over from other world-lines if all this is true. "True according to Titor" The extended probability of world-lines having close resemblance would mean civil war will come to pass in different variants of time, then would null out.... If true.

Titor did say if he went forward in our world-line it will not be his future.

Yes, this is true. If I go forward on this world line, the future will not be my future

This whole thread gets misinterpreted over and over, it seems most people think Titor made several predictions of our future. Titor to no degree even made a prediction in our reality, He only gave a hint to what our future may be like from his world of view.

Ah...pseudo science I really like.
hoax or no hoax a ad hoc hypothesis can make all this true lol.

..... enough musing from me.

John Titor
“Perhaps I should let you all in on a little secret. No one likes you in the future. This time period is looked at as being full of lazy, self-centered, civically ignorant sheep. Perhaps you should be less concerned about me and more concerned about that.”

”When the civil "conflict" started and got worse, people generally decided to either stay in the cities and lose most of their civil rights under the guise of security or leave the cities for more isolated and rural areas. Our home was searched once and the neighbor across the street was arrested for some unknown reason. That convinced my father to leave the city.”

”You must realize that why people are fighting is more important that what they are fighting with. The conflict was not about taking and holding ground it was about order and rights. They were betting that people wanted security instead of freedom and they were wrong.”

What do these 3 abovementioned John Titor quotes have in common? The below mentioned article paints a picture of the present situation. Are American’s indeed willing to surrender their Constitutional Rights in order to feel safe and secure? Let’s see if that truly will be the case in 2006…

For now I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New-year!

Americans willing to surrender rights to feel safe and secure
Posted on Sat, Dec. 24, 2005

Based on what we’ve seen so far, Bush is in no danger of losing his job. In fact, if this controversy continues, W. will likely go up in the polls. Why? Because the American people want to be safe. And they will surrender some of their rights to be safer. That political reality may infuriate hard-core civil libertarians, but it’s true during all periods of wartime. It even appears that during George W. Bush’s administration, many Democrats in Congress were briefed on at least some details. Most of them, it appears, didn’t have any objection to this secret surveillance program – until it was reported in the New York Times.

That report seems to have encouraged the Democrats to speak out, perhaps in hopes of scoring points against “Big Brother Bush.” But if that’s what the Democrats think will happen, they are probably mistaken. Why? Because when the American people learn red tape has gotten in the way of thwarting terrorists, they react badly toward the red-tapers. There will be hearings and lawsuits galore over the new surveillance revelations, but the key question, in the minds of most folks, is motive. Did the Bush administration seek out information for political or personal gain, a la Richard Nixon? That would be an impeachable offense.

Most of old posts have been deleted. But if you had looked around the sites that Titor posted on, you would see they were discussing the stuff Titor talked about before he showed up. I mean, he wasn't even the first one going to those sites claiming to be a time traveler. He was just the only one the mods worked with.
As far as his story being complete. That is far from the truth. He story has many many holes, alot of which have been discussed in this thread.
The fact that he claims to be one of the good guys makes the story more laughable. I mean, they can hardly get printers to work in their time, yet he's using the people's energy, power, electricity, and resources to test, create, and use time machines for nothing? Come on now.
Titor's quote:

But if they are here (they meaning other time travelers), I’m sure they’re pouring over sports history books so they can go back in time another week and start a friendly conversation on the web.

This while the people back in his time are struggling to find clean water.

As in being complete- I meant he had all the material- he did not have to go look anything up- or make up stuff as he was going along. Reading the entirety of his story- he did reply like a real person put on the spot for making real but hard to believe assertions.

Could he be a good actor/ liar? sure but it does not come across that way unless you have preconceived notions- I read his stuff the first time and went wow- not the usual treky techno babble this guy at least has some sort of back ground- all the while thinking there is simply no way the story could be true.

Holes in his story? Sure- I could see that. But I can also rack that up to IF he is who he says he is HE has the complete story and you do not and there is simply way too much detail that he did not go into for you to play the holier-than-thou and fill in your own facts on what did or did not happen. You have only what he presented to work with.

Since you are already notorious for wanting exactly the same number of folks to have died the same way for to be his Waco-like events I can see the problems you have with any of the details. I could not fathom for a minute how one could ever convince you that Christ, or not, THE man named Jesus was in fact a real person. Doubting Thomas had nothing on you. sorry, holiday kind of lead to example that came to mind

Now as to his quote you presented: Can you not see he was being sarcastic??

Never mind -- approximations and sarcasm don't work with you, what of humor?- are you sure you are not in-fact some form of artificial intelligence unable to appreciate those?? Maybe a robot sent back in time to kill one John Conar? Do you speak with a heavy accent too?

What was the DPI (even interpolated) your AVERAGE Joe had in 2001?

300dpi 24-bit RBG scanners were cheap, under $200.

#2 How about bandwidth available then to your "average folk"

Broadband cable modem use was about 27% at the time. ATS favored broadband users even then, with a board home page at about 90k total weight.

What kind of image compression files where common at the time period?

Photoshop LE came with those $200 scanners. It had fairly good JPEG compression and "optimize for web" features.

Cool someone finally with some NUMBERS!

I'd agree 300 DPI should make a clear enough picture;
But for a guy "stopping by" from the future with no cash in pocket the $200 might be a bit steep. I've read and re-read his stuff and I see no mention about him having to run out and work- only that he was hanging out at his parents place with "little-him"
(Coincidentally, no accidental references in his story to CURRENT and hopefully passing pop culture- Austin Powers sucks)

While all that wonderful stuff was available - I don't see it as commonly available take a gander into your local library - not likely to have a P4 with a color, 24 bit, flat scanner there today to use. Maybe he was a special case and did have it available - we cannot say.

I often ponder strange things- for one: What age group or type of person typically visit places like Best Buy or who have to have the latest thing. Seems to me it is the SINGLE and between 20-30 crowd. Young families i.e. with kids, seldom splurge on that sort of stuff (but it is happening more and more now-a-days- like plasma TVs) you don't see too many elderly in there either. I myself am not yet "elderly" but I go into one of those establishments less and less and I use the tech stuff frequently- you might say my life revolves around it. What did What's-his-face say his dad did before the war?? Not too tech based was it. Small kid in the house. Sure his parents could have had the stuff but is it likely? Not very. I say less than 1 in 10.

Today- this very minute- I do not have cable available at my house- DSL only moved into the neighborhood about 3 months ago. Oh yeah, I could have had a very fast wireless connection for quite awhile now, but not back in 2001. This availability for high speed access is not quite as common as one might think- the US is a very spread out place- it is not like the UK where most can cycle to work and having cable access was available to nearly all the week it came out. -don't get me started on gas price/ driving habit differences-

love the numbers- we need more of them!

Too bad I was not able to find a link to an electronic version.

In regards to CERN and MINI black holes What's-his-face was pretty darn specific but people still claim he was purposely vague on everything. I am wondering just how many times and how closely they actually read all of his stuff? Me thinks they were already predisposed to him being a quack (which personally for me the jury is still out on) some stuff he tells you outright is vague other is just way to darn specific to totally discount him especially when BAM almost daily we get slapped up side the head with the very specific- very detailed things that defies logic of him knowing in 2001ish.

I can't wait to laugh this up with TJW. I can't believe your still in this topic, and that it is still popular. Lol, what a shame that dickwad is. I can't comprehend why people would believe someone who claims that he is from the future on a message board. Lol. I have a few things I would like to sell you guys, they are rare and very expensive items. btw, I have every intention of being really f'd up at the bars on New Years. So, I may start the American Civil War because I'm biligerent. It will start with Sox fans taking on the Cubs fans in Chicago. WHITE SOX!

Cool timer but it only has 5 days on it- I guess you be the folk 'hard coring it' that 2005 deadline for when we see huge body counts- no worries.

I guess WWII for you (if you are a US guy) didn't start until After Dec 7 1941? I guess that is ok too- but most scholars think it started (ie. began, became inevitable) in 1939. The scholarly approach could be the basis for What's-his-face as well . . . . . well IF he were a real time traveler.

I guess we need to start a new thread boys (and girls) something like "Titors war predicted at your place by 2008" or something. Personally, I like to call him What's-his-face since he said it wasn't his real name anyway but that would never fit in the headline.

making excuses again. I guess if we're American the American Civil War should have already started. Arrogant human being! The whole idea is ridiculous, American citizens will not have any reason for a Civil War in two years time. If there was, there would be tension building already... there isn't!
