The only scenario that I could imagine is more like skirmishes where ANTIFA and Conservatives clash. You may think just clubs and bike locks but I am sure one side or the other will pack some heat. Once fired it is full on. How it spreads from there is anybodies guess. Would be a terrible thing but tensions are running rather high and the mental exhaustion from Democrat lying and wrangling makes things worse.

A real civil war involves current and ex-military, you would need Generals and Admirals commanding armies and navies and air power on both sides. So let's say Trump is impeached by the senate, but instead of going he calls on the military to intervene and a couple divisions with there Generals respond. Now the rest of the military would have a choice support these 2 divisions or kill their own. Personally I think it would start a domino effect that might leave a few battalions with anti-Trumpers officers. It would be over really fast either way, with very few deaths. It could result in liberal states wanting to break away like California, which might declare it's Independence. In that case would it's national guard and militia be able to fight off the federal army, unlikely.

I think that, with due respects are undervaluing the commitment and understanding the Generals have for the Constitution. If McConnell betrays Trump...and he will...the Senate finds him guilty, he is no longer president. They no longer follow his orders, and in fact cannot. I wouldnt trust Pence to act for Trump, either.

Says the guy who thinks we're talking about lining up in fields and street corners to shoot at each other every time a Civil War is mentioned.

I think the next civil war will have a very different dynamic. I think it will be very specific targets and all at once. I also think it will be very fast and it will shock the nation. I am not sure what the fall out would be but I don't think it will be widespread violence. I just don't see us all lining up on a battlefield that has no lines.

Either that or I read way too many books..

a reply to: JAGStorm A civil war would be devastating. We are now on a National Banking System. States in rebellion would be cut off of funds. Local economies would collapse over night. The U. S. Navy and Coast Guard would seize all GOM or any offshore oil fields. It's just nasty even before the shooting would start.

This is the kind of civil war I'm imagining too.
Oddly enough, I do not have the murdering vision that some people are salivating about, at least not for a while.
At first I think it would be like you said. Banking seizures, a cyber war, social media propaganda,
then to physical things like taking down the electrical grid in certain areas, road closures etc..

It would start in states that are very red or blue. Would the swing states be in chaos or neutral?

I see that some of us on here think very much alike.
I don't see battlefield until people are desperate for survival. That comes later.

Can we all agree that despite difference of opinions to take a step back, cool off and remember we our our neighbors, friends and families?

The talking heads can rile us up good but we decide our own actions.

Not if the scenario develops that they feel that their oath to the constitution has them protecting America from domestic enemies.....and all it would take is a few generals and loyal officers to those generals to get the whole thing rolling.
The other part is where would the secret service land on this, if they side with the President he can't really be removed either very easily.

Look at it this way, impeachment happens because Trump asked for help investigating corruption, some Generals might come to see that the rule of law has been totally abandoned and it's time to clean house.

It is not like Donald Trump made up this notion of a civil war like fracture. Here is just a few of the many articles on this very subject.

www.kpbs.org...

smallwarsjournal.com...

Here is Tim Pool at timcast youtube on the subject. Very informative in my opinion.

No

Suburbia is full of families and won't go violent, ever.

Cities may turn upside for a moment until the police and military outgun anyone being a pest.

This is the easiest time in human history to ever be alive, ever.

Who do you really think is going to physically fight and kill for anything more than some cash, an Iphone, or drugs?

Y'all make me laugh.

True. He doesn't seem to have much of an imagination but shiny things catch his attention. He often seems to miss the point though, hearing what he wants to hear. Much like his base.

Your first source:

Walter said while she does not believe a second civil war will happen in the U.S. it's still important to discuss the topic.

The second is speculation the role of the military and the Government in case of a hypothetical insurrection. It's an interesting read.

An impeachment is not a coup, btw. If there is violence as a result of an impeachment of Trump, it is on the heads of those who do it. No one else. A stupid threat from a self-interested man. It's his job to discourage insurrection, not suggest it.

The rhetoric has been set for quite awhile now. Our intolerance to other opinions has "poisoned the well" so to speak.
No one may argue a talking point these days without someone being offended. And that offence trumps any and all arguments because your talking point gets demonized as hate speech. Even if that talking point is simply telling the truth. The truth is less important than "feelings".

Its easy to get offended. It reinforces your belief in a topic that is important to you.
But the more offended you get the more willing you will become to overlooking simple truths.
It becomes easier to suspend or even ignore the outright truth if you allow it to.

Our parents and grand parents understood that we can agree to disagree, and just because you do not agree with me
it does not mean we cant be friends.

A new Civil War?
For one thing War is never civil.
It is brutal. It is ugly. It is absolutely terrifying.
the world markets would recoil and collapse overnight in an almost self preserving reaction to a civil war.
You cannot be the worlds reserve currency and expect the world to sit back and trust that it will all work out.
A civil war would extinguish any faith that the world would have in our currency. once the dollar collapses,
there will be a great vacuum...and great conflict, as the remaining powers vie to replace it with their own...
the world then would know war once more.
It would be marked as the death rattle of the worlds economy and the death of a nation considered to be the strongest
to have existed.

Rome too was once considered the greatest most advanced Empire and she fell prey to her own ambitions...as well as the underestimation of barbarian hordes.

So when we do reach for each others throats and pit brother against brother once more, I wonder then who would be our Barbarian hoard.

An impeachment, in and of itself, is not a coup. But three years of bs from every possible angle all coming from democrats with the idea of disrupting a sitting POTUS just might qualify.

I think a new civil war is possible. It will be different in many ways but in one particular way it will be very similar: It will be two very motivated groups willing to fight for their ideals and a whole lot of non-combatants caught in the middle.

The military should not be allowed to interfere, posse comitatus, but that can be temporarily suspended too. Intervention will most likely be from state forces rather than federal anyway.

Well said and probably the most accurate path.

80 percent of us want to live in peace and coexist. IF you are saying the nutcases on the far left and the far right are going to fight, I think you could be right about that, but most of the country doesn't hate one another.

I think it would be mostly antifa against whoever is outside...even if Trump was impeached they "won," antifa would still riot lol then the military will swoop in with an iron fist
It would be best to stay indoors when CW2 breaks out

If you would kill another American over politics, you're the problem.

It happens every day by the police. And how many people have been killed over marijuana, and that's now legal in many states.

Yet another person that misunderstands WHY the 2nd Amendment exists.
