Just a spit balling theory here. He didn't get a deal with North Korea, remember he walked away from the table quick. There's a reason for that. I think some "former masters" had something to do with that. So the summit was a failure, not quite, he walked away with a great economic deal. So lets kill a couple birds with one stone. I certainly understand that MCAS type systems have been around since the 70s. Without them the F-117 and B-2 can't fly. I also get that because of the re-engine the CB is significantly different. Hence the need for the MCAS system. Being honest here, I don't know any intimate details of a 737 MAX. However, if you're saying after thousands of hours of flight testing for airworthiness certification they didn't uncover the AoA sensors weren't reporting correctly and cancelling out, as needed that's gross negligence. Somehow I just don't see that

The 787 was grounded from January 2013 until April 2013 due to lithium ion battery thermal runway problems. The FAA was the first in that case, followed by aviation authorities everywhere else.

The 737 Max uses larger and heavier engines requiring a flight control system that compensates. Boeing made the mistake with the code when they didn't have the computer compare both AoA sensors instead of just reading one side.

It would be kinda hilarious if this is also a Stuxnet thingy...

That makes sense. Ryan was seduced to the Dark Side. If it happened to the Speaker of the House, imagine how many run-of-the-mill Congressmen are totally corrupted, on both sides of the aisle.
