I disagree.

The only motive that I can see is the benefit that this crime makes Trump supporters look terrible. If someone who hated him for being gay & black and wanted him hurt or dead, was behind it, they sure didn't achieve their goal or even come close.

That said, I'm glad he's not seriously injured!

The track record of these kind of off the wall claims is why people are doubting. On the surface it sounds to fanciful and some stuff seems very unlikely.

He isn't a A list actor. So we are supposed to believe to random white guys in Chicago at 2am knows who he is... hell I'm. Lack and I wouldnt recognize him if he stepped on my big toe AND I know Empire as a show. The odds of a MAGA hat wearing white guy being familiar with Empire enough to even recognize him is slim.

This is called using common sense.... something that isn't very common among the left these days.

A Chicago Police spokesperson told The Daily Beast that the attackers’ genders are unknown, and that their faces and hands had been covered. TMZ reported that the attackers shouted “This is MAGA country,” but police told the Beast, “There is no report of that being said.”

So, Smollett did not ID the attackers as white, or even as male, and they didn't say anything about MAGA. Assuming that any fragment of this story was actually true, he might have just been robbed, 'cause he was walking around freaking Chicago at 2AM!. My theory (or Edumakated's gay prostitute theory) might still be true as well. If the bleach thing actually happened, then I think it was almost certainly some kind of domestic incident.

That suggests some racists carried out the attack. Did Smollett report that info or was it made up, too?

I obviously don't know if this is a hoax or not -- wasn't there and don't have the necessary information to make that determination. However, I will say that it is very unlikely that a couple of backwards, gap-toothed MAGA-types would know who in the hell this guy is from a show like 'Empire'. I don't even know who in the hell this guy is. That seems highly unlikely to me that he was targeted specifically because of that which throws the rest of his claims into question.

I could be very wrong, however. Maybe there are MAGA numbskulls that secretly love 'Empire' and they hate those responsible for making them love such an awful show. Seems plausible enough, I guess...

As stupid as it sound for someone to be carrying bleach, people have been doused with acid in the face in the street.
The other day in my city, a dude was in his garage and a couple scum bags came in, beat him down with his own golf clubs. Then took a bat to him, then poured paint down his throat.
The guy is in critical condition at the hospital still.
I can deal with the beatings, but forcing paint down someone’s gullet?
