Lots of people in need.

I believe that could’ve had an impact on who participated in this poll.

Maybe so ... isn't that possibility a statement in itself? So many out of work - watching TV.

As I'm sure you all now, polls like this are scientifically invalid. Remember the ATS polls that gave Ron Paul the lead? If you can show us a scientifically valid poll that expresses the desires of the populace at large, let's take a look. But this stuff is just emotional B.S. and from a scientific standpoint is completely laughable. Dream on.

Of course this poll is scientifically invalid - but what isn't on ATS. Scientifically valid is considered fake news by a majority of members (give or take).

In which case it HAS NO MEANING and your thread is invalid.

Is not having a car going to lead to you suffering and dieing?

If you can prove to me it will I would be glad to pay a small portion of your insurance.

Your not paying my entire healthcare cost so I wont pay your entire car insurance.

Being rather selfish and self serving, are you?

I work for my own money and support my own family... I'm not exchanging my precious time, blood, sweat, and tears to support people I owe no responsibility to.

What happens if you become disabled, loose your job and to soon to qualify for Medicare and you need surgery that overall, costs 40 50 thousand dollars.

I walk out into a blizzard and die. Not that big of a concern, really... happens to everyone at some point, ya?

I once held that same attitude. It makes you a very lonely person, doesn't it?

Wasn't Obama care supposed to to do the same thing?

Worked out great for me. Cheaper , better coverage and I got to keep my family doctor.

I will gladly pay more taxes so that others can have the same.

Worked okay for me too... and many others I know. Needs fixing though - to high premiums, deductibles and co-pays. People still go bankrupt paying medical bills.

I'll stand by the validity of the discussion.

Look, I love the idea of taking care of everyone, regardless of how well they take care of themselves. It feels good. It turns me into a keyboard hero and brings me lots and lots of friends. But it is complete fantasy.

If you really wanted to know how this free for all medical/medicine scheme would turn out, flip the rosy pie in the sky fantasy 180 degrees and you will be a lot closer to the truth.

You see, I am being compassionate in stating that getting insurance and government out of health care would be the best possible thing we could do for humanity. If I were truly sadistic and just didn't give a crap about my fellow human being anymore, I would shout out and champion free health care.

It is called reality. How do you not see this?

Point is, it isnt MY RESPONSIBILITY to pay for ANYONES insurance but my own. We already subsidize through our tax dollars MANY people's insurance, see it at the pharmacy every day, why not throw on tens of millions more on our back?

also, I said my car payment, not the entire car.......

And is it our responsibility to pay for your roads, and schools, and military, and meat inspection?

You people have a very shortsighted, selfish and immature worldview, no wonder America sucks so much these days.

My main question is why all the other industrialized nations have a taxpayer funded health care system (to some degree) and the majority have better health outcomes-all have much better costs-and everyone is covered?

How is this a bad thing?

Or is it the "it can't work here" thing?

Under what illusion do you think free health care will actually work out? Who is going to administer this supreme health care package? Our government? What makes you think they can do the job? Anyone look at the VA lately?

Lets take a stroll and see where the other free health care centers are doing? Maybe the UK for an example?

So what are they doing wrong? How many of you feel good keyboard warriors have looked into the NHS to see what needs to be changed for this to start working again?

Why would the US government be able to manage this any better?

Why do you people think this would actually work?

Amazingly, these same polls when worded differently would reflect that most Americans feel they are already taxed too much. It is difficult to comprehend but responders to pollsters often change their ideals when they are provided more complete ideals on how they really will be affected via taxation...individually. After Obama's pass it to understand ACA...I have become more cautious. It would seem so wonderful...free healthcare for all....but reality is that it is not free for all.

I content single payer would cause a boom to the econ that would be second only to post WW II. Everyone who feels (is) trapped in a corp job who stays for the med bens can start their own business. It would be earth shaking.

Look at the boon to smallish business - no need to provide health care (beyond the added business part of medicare) no Worker's Comp insurance. Those two alone would increase the viability of small business in this country.

Big but----The corps will not give up this HUGE control over there workers. It will have to be taken at the ballot box. It will not be given.

Thank you for reminding me ---- we could do away with the VA. Everybody covered - no exceptions.

Great, now citizens will be setting themselves on fire outside regular hospitals.
