Busy in the cafe today, I've been out had to earn some money, only short day though wouldn't want to kill myself through exhaustion lol
@BoneSay I hope your pasty attempt works, I wish I could send you the secret ingredient, fresh tears from a Pixie, but it should turn out okay without it.

@oldcarpy That stew looks fantastic, think it should be on the cafe menu! It could be a special with a side of that hipster salad BoneSay posted haha

@freeborn Stargazy pie looks minging, never tried it and never will unless I am actually starving! I'd eat jellied eels before that, at least they aren't staring you out.
Good tune choices as well, especially Saint Etienne.
...nice one you cook for that old couple

Something chilled for my afternoon...

If you make up a big batch you can freeze it. That's a nice thing to do for the old couple.

My freezer is full of takeaway containers of stuff I've cooked. Since my son moved out I always make too much just for me so in the freezer it goes.
My son only moved to a little house next door to me though so he still comes around scrounging a tub of something he can just warm up in the microwave...I quite like that though makes me feel like 'dad' again lol

Mines full of home made curry sauces.

Basic Curry Sauce

This is the basic method but you can use different spices and vary the heat.

Top tip for curry lovers: Iceland do some great curries and always seem to have at least one scarily hot curry. I have had their "Atomic Vindaloo" which was pretty hot (not quite bung a bog roll in the freezer hot if you get my drift) but now have their latest hot one - with Carolina Reaper chili which sounds bloody hot. Whenever I open the freezer door it's there giving me evils and saying "Come and have a go if you think your hard enough".

Atomic Vindaloo

I've never really been much of a spicy food guy, well not too hot anyway. My best mate is, and even when he says "It's a mild one" while passing me a bowl of something he's made I know it's gonna be hot.
I've never tried to make my own curry sauce either, it looks simple, may have a go on the weekend. Curried tofu haha

Never had tofu, probably never will. What's the point unless you are a veggie? Bought some paneer cheese once. Fried it. Horrible. Tasteless and squeaky.

Bait Box Stew - forgot to say take out the orange before serving!

With the curry sauce - its best to whizz it up with a hand blender - cheap enough in Tescos or Lidls or wherever. Less of a pain to clean than a food processor.

I was veggie for a decade or so, changed career and got into building so went back to meat for the protein.
I don't eat meat every day though, old habits die hard like tofu and Halloumi cheese.

If you want a fantastic quick snack, pitta bread in toaster, few slices of Halloumi cheese in a shallow pan, no need for oil, brown both sides. Cut pitta open, butter one side, green pesto other side, couple of slices of tomato in with the cheese, salt and pepper, sorted.

I might do that when I go fishing for a night or two - in one of these:

Ridgemonkey Toaster

Amazing the stuff you can cook with these things.

How could you not eat bacon?!!!!!! For ten years?

That's a handy looking piece of kit

...and bacon yes haha, it was the first meat I had when I rejoined the omnivore fold again. A good mate of mine is a head chef and he cooked me up a massive steak to celebrate.

Damn it I want one now but got no bacon in, I've just been down to town, I'm not walking back up this hill again today!
Phew, back-up sausages in the freezer, I'm gonna try your marmalade thing in a toast sandwich.

I dreamed I was making a loaf of bread.
I didn't have any flour so I used carbon nanotubes.
I woke up before I got to eat it because an obnoxious blue heron flew by my camp squawking and a raccoon was playing with my toes.

Haha! WTF man that was a crazy dream!

I don't usually remember much of my dreams, always thought it would be amazing if we could download them to watch later.

Would you like some date, apple and raisin sauce with your bacon sarnie? Of course not, but hold on:

Just found myself randomly wondering, does anyone put raisins in Yorkshire puddings? My mum used to.
