Sam Houston and Crockett are wondering what the point was right about now.
No they aren't plenty of Mexicans (texicans) fought side by side w their counterparts like Houston.... Hell Juan Seguin was one of Houstons closest friends and trusted generals
Is history really not taught anymore?
I wasnt saying they didnt want any Mexicans in, I meant that they fought behind a wall to stop the bad guys(spanish essentially BTW) get in and take Texas.
PS, not having grown up in Texas, they don't teach Texas history in every state, I learned it when I lived there in my adult life.

I was just in Albuquerque last week and stopped at walmart.
There was a security guard at the door.
A cop outside.
The makeup department looked like a cage.
And there was not a single self checkout line.
Bye bye texas
New Mexico is coming
And what are you going to do about all the folks showing their German/Dutch/Irish/Swedish/Norwegian/Finnish/Polish/Italian/etc pride with those flag decals on their cars? Slash their tires and call them unAmerican? I see a TON of German, Dutch and Polish flag decals on cars here in MI, I don't think they care what you think about it.
I'm significantly less butthurt over this than you appear to be.

It's wrong if you keep your kids so isolated they cannot operate in the larger culture.
It's one thing if they maintain some of that at home, but it's another if they refuse to allow any of the larger culture to be adopted. Then they are effectively colonizing from within.
Most first generation immigrants won't ever learn more than they have to, but the children can and should learn to integrate fully so they can keep both toes in, one on each side. They can't do that if they aren't allowed to by family stricture.
Expound, if you can. I grew up in Florida, where supposedly the Cubans and others don't "mix in", but I'd never seen any real tangible examples of them not doing that.

I don't know about Cubans, but I've seen it in Hispanics up where I'm at.
Guess which culture doesn't come out to Independence Day celebrations? You even see Muslims out there, but almost no Hispanics.

Its offensive when you refuse to join the culture you are living with...
Here in Germany if I don't try to speak German most Germans (that don't know me well) will refuse to admit they know English.
They expect me to rightfully make that adjustment while living in their country, so why is it considered Offensive that any American wants English as the official language?
I was told I am racist for wanting English as the official language in the states, but it was not racist for Hispanics to try and make Spanish the official language of Florida.
But hey go ahead and tilt at an imaginary windmill..
Where in the EFF did I say anything about attacking them or damaging their property.. project much???
Considering that entirely made up in your own head paragraph of your's that I quoted I would say you are supremely butt hurt over what I said.. The cuban exiles were used as an example so maybe you should go back and work on your reading comprehension.

I dated a Cuban girl for a while, the first time I went to her parents home was the first time I saw racism. Mom and Dad were pissed she was dating a white kid. They refused to speak to me and talked more than a bit of trash about me, and her family and their friends eventually destroyed the relationship.
What they didn't know was while I could not speak Spanish well my understanding of it was quite good, and they were far from flattering in what they were saying.
I guess you lived in the liberal utopia corner of Florida because in the late 80s Tampa area it was very clearly divided between Cuban exiles and the rest of the Hispanics. The Cubans were racist... the Mexicans, the Puerto Ricans were awesome folks to hang out with drink with or date. Every family from the later two groups worked hard to assimilate into America, they wanted their kids to be fluent in English and be American first, Then be proud of your heritage.

The only stat yanks should be concerned with is when stupid outnumbers sane - all the skin skin colours have stupid and sane - its in the ratios that count. The gene-wars theory of K-selection versus r-selection best explains the overarching human instinct - skin colour, religion, politics all come a distant 2nd.

You mean Tejas?
Hispanics will overtake non-Hispanic whites to become the largest population group within five years, according to new data from the U.S. Census Bureau. Texas added 234,000 Hispanic residents in 2017, more than any other state in the country, to take the Hispanic population total to 11.2 million.
Those numbers represented a flattening out of recent increases, however, leading experts to push back their estimate for when Hispanic will become the largest group in the Lone Star State.
“We had projected that the Latino population would exceed the white population by 2020 and that’s probably not going to happen,” demographer Lloyd Potter told the Dallas Morning News, adding that the shift was now expected to happen in 2022.
The overall shift is as a result of migration as well as a generally higher fertility rates.

I jest of course.... The majority of hispanics speak English first and foremost and it's spoken fluently. Not to mention, the term 'hispanic' is used fairly loosely these days where even the Census Bureau can't seem to properly define who would be included in this group. The term Hispanic is more a cultural or ancestral identification.... you can be fairly pale and white and still identify as hispanic. With that said, this is a strong indication that there are major demographic shifts happening in red states and these shifts are happening fast. Interesting times.

Does anybody know how much of the current "white" population of Texas was actually originally "Hispanic" back hundreds of years ago and slowly got Anglified? Did it happen much or are pretty much all Texan whites from the outside?
