No. What does not being qualified for military service have to do with one's individual rights? To "keep and and bear arms", or firearms/weapons is a birthright as a U.S. Citizen/American. I'm not sure what your confusion is. One doesn't join the military for "free speach", or any of the "bill of rights". Matter of fact, you wave most of them "rights" when you join.

Understood. So you and I both served for the US military. You in the USN and me in the US Army. We served in entirely different capacities. In your profession having a transgender working within your environment may not make much of a difference to you or your team. My profession dictates differently. We should mutually respect that of each other.

It does not matter if you or I agree if the reasons are morally or ethically right. What matters is how will it impact and affect the group dynamic and our effectiveness to be combat effective.

Even though you and I served in different capacities we both served in the same mission. Combat readiness. Regardless if a soldier served as IT, cook, janitor, pilot, Ranger, Airborne, etc. we ALL served one single mission. Combat readiness. 24/7/365. Having a transgender on my team would not work. The personalities would not allow for it. Again, don't get wrapped around the argument if it is morally or ethically right or not.

When we made selections for our teams it was always about not getting the "best" person...but the "right" person. That means we matched our teams according to a myriad of similar personality traits. Hive mind shlt. Think alike, act as one. We all had the requisite training, deployments to certain geos, etc. The personality aspect was the final piece of the puzzle.

Gender dysphoria is a legitimate mental state coupled with strong biological aspects which drive a person to not feel comfortable with their present physical and biological designation as a male or female. I get it mate. I genuinely feel a bit of sympathy for a person who has a legitimate case of gender dysphoria. I can only imagine the social stigma they carry internally in an attempt to relate to who they feel their inner person truly is. I feel for them. However, being in a combat unit where your life is dependent not just upon the intellectual capability but the emotional stability of the man next to you is not a scenario I am willing to allow someone with gender dysphoria the opportunity to work through. You have to manage the risks you can manage. If you allow the transgender debate the ability to disrupt a well tuned machine then the machine breaks down. They are the very, very, very small minority and because the majority should rule they should not be given any special consideration simply because they are transgender. If they want to serve their country then fine. But it would have to be limited to certain MOS designations. Not combat units.

Now that I reflect, telling us that Salt-Peter was in the chow, could have been a psychological tool. My least favorite bootcamp chore was standing "watch" over the guys sleeping. Standing at ease, for Four hours in the middle was so boring.

The 4th Amendment (what was left of it) was thrown in the trash today, and here's five pages of bickering about franks and beans for girls.

Wtf is wrong with you people? The "deep state" is right--you don't deserve freedom.

You make great slaves, though.

If you fail certain psychological tests, it might be a good idea if you're also placed on the No-gun list.

What are you referring to? You shouldn't be offended when people aren't a well read as you are! Enlighten us, NthOther.

Oh yeah, that was our first experience of what standing watch was, balls to 0200, 0200 to 0400, and so on. The worst being woke up in the middle of the night to just stand there, record logs, and watch people sleep. The worst! That was the one thing about bootcamp that I found really hard, no sleep, and that stupid watch didn't help. I do think they've increased the hours of sleep recruits get now a days. Lucky bastards.

I remember marching somewhere after Battlestations was over and a guy 2 rows ahead of me fell asleep while marching and was about to march right into a telephone poll. Tbh, I was really excited to see him walk into it but a good shipmate in the row behind him pulled him back into formation. It was for the best I suppose but I wish he had walked into it.

I would dare say most transgender people don't get their junk cut off. Some have, and some have regretted it. My only knowledge of transgender people come from listening to the Howard Stern show when he would have them on for various reasons.

Well, as far as combat goes, I guess that would require special attention and something to ease into but for everything else it shouldn't matter.

They shouldn't ban them altogether, but maybe start some "guys with t*ts" unit, that isn't mission critical?

Anyway, it is funny how far the west is going with this demand for tolerance. In 30 years, North Korea will conquer you, because by then, 80% of your training consists on sensitivity lessons. Maybe they can send the first wave of letters, telling how they feel.

The military is about two things, efficiency and unity. If some people have special needs and don't fit into the unit because of this, then that's it. And it should not mater if these special needs come from some sexual deviation or disability. Military should not be a place where the weak are pampered. There are plenty of other places already like this already and no one needs a weak military, that's goal is to make people with special needs feel good.

You can't make that assessment because you've never served in that capacity. Therefore your view point is baseless. You need to recognize when you are wrong.

Lot's of reasons why a person can not join. One of my sons is blind in one eye and he can't join as example. Lot's of over weight people too can't join. With transgender we are talking about a good chance for physiological and medical issues as they want and maybe try to transform into their "real" physical body. Many of the drugs they would need to take would either be against regulations or prevent them from deploying. They are not special even though many try to make them out to be. I don't even want to go into the crazy logistic of it all too.

And in those cases they may be denied enlistment. Not all transgender people need surgery or even medication. The problem is many that support the transgender ban are misinformed about transgender persons and assume all need/want surgery or all are on some kind of medication, this is simply not the case.

My son has been blind in his one eye since the age of 2. He is a football/basketball star, so I have no doubt he could perform with the best of them. He still can't join...the military uses a wide brush and that is not going to change...

Wrong about what, combat? Like I said, it needs special attention because combat is serious business but in all other jobs besides combat it doesn’t matter.

My guess is Navy.

I’m guessing there was a run-in with a ladyboi hooker in Thailand and the hate started there.
