Maybe? I don't even know if that would disqualify anyone. I mean, maybe if one leg was really, really short to the point you can't run?

Won't let you in with flat feet!

Pre existing conditions either.

You see the freaks Xerxes had in his army?!

You want that?!

I wonder how many one legged, one armed, miscreations made it out of the waters when zerxes had half his ships sunk in the bay...

Look. I was ejected out of the Navy stand-by reserves, because they could pinch 3 inches of fat on the side of my belly. (I had been out of the Navy 8 years and was gorging at this wonderful seafood buffet every week..OK?)

That's not a factual/true figure. But I'll play your little game.
We'll use your "Time.com" 7 as a 100%...because that's the "quantifiable". (The 8, 9 and 10 are useless to the military) Take 30% of "the 7" and it equals what? Got the answer? Good! Then/now you're dealing in fact/Reality.

Obvious physical diabalities apply, no matter if you're black, white, gay, a man or woman, or transgender.

As far as serial killers, like what? How would they know you're a serial killer? If you have a criminal record, for the most part you can't join either but there are definitely exceptions as well, although being a convicted serial killer would disqualify you, obviously because you'd be dead or in jail.

I wear glasses, I joined. Are you legally blind? What kind of braces?

When the Military says that 7 out of every 10 applicants don't make it to boot camp, they're not exaggerating one bit. That's an average across all services. The Marines are probably the most difficult to get into.

I know I'm just pointing out some logical failures of people who think the military is a place where we should be implementing politically motivated social changes

cluueeelleeesssssssss

the military is a place that should be and used to promote toxic masculinity to prepare men for war where many of them face certain death and disfigurement not a place for people to feel good

The military in the US has been ahead of the times with some social issues in the past. Not really unprecedented.

Quoted for Truth.

Most high-schools aren't graduating students that are smart enough to get into the military. It's easier for them to get into college, because the college makes $$$$$. I think morons can get into college if they have $$$.

When I was in bootcamp, it was 12 weeks. The cooks put Peter Salt in our food to keep the horniness down.

I served and I don't care if a transgender person wants to serve for their country. Scratch that, I do care, anyone should be able to serve no matter what.

Such a typical emotion driven, unthoughtful response devoid completely of critical thought. So based on your logic of "no matter what" we should therefor allow anyone to serve simply because they want to regardless if:

- they are physically unfit to serve
- have a history of mental illness
- did not graduate from high school or have a GED
- are underage
- have physical disabilities that prevent them from performing basic tasks
- are illegally in the US
- claim allegiance to another country other than the US
- etc..

My examples are extreme and are intended to be. Most people (and I will give you the benefit of the doubt) would agree than anyone possessing any of the above attributes should not be allowed to serve.

My point is you should choose your words more carefully and pose a valid argument as to why you think transgender should be allowed to serve. Not just, "because you say so". That is not an argument.

Emotionally driven? Lack of critical thought? The military has been an institution ahead of it's time for social reform. Did you know that?

- they are physically unfit to serve

Clearly there are standards that must be met, and for good reason. The same standards apply to law enforcement and other professions, eg firefighter.

- have a history of mental illness

There was no test when I joined. That said, if you're displaying some clear mental problems I'm sure it will be used against you, eg how many people dodged the Vietnam draft.

- did not graduate from high school or have a GED

It's not hard to get either but I doubt those few without either are trying to join. Again, an obvious standard that must be met.

- are underage

Obvious standard that must be met but you can join at 17 with parents/guardian permission. Clearly the US military doesn't want child soldiers.

- have physical disabilities that prevent them from performing basic tasks

Now you're just repeating yourself.

- are illegally in the US

What illegal immigrant is trying to join the US military? Again, obvious standards must be met. That said, non citizens can join and their service can used to further help them gain US citizenship.

- claim allegiance to another country other than the US

Again, obvious standards must be met but those with dual citizenship can join the military. That said, they can't be allowed access to a clearance.

My point is that anyone who clearly meets the minimum standards should be allowed to serve. The obvious should be obvious.

If you read my past posts your question would have been answered but I'll say it again, USN, rate CTO (which merged with IT shortly after I was Honorable Discharged).

Yeah, that's a odd one to me but I guess if you're a soldier in the field it could hurt you so we can file that under physical standards that must be met.

I worked with computers and communication devices so having flat feet wouldn't matter to my missions. Although, I think I do have flat feet, sort of.

When I was in the USN was downsizing and booting people who didn't meet their weight standards or pass PT tests and there was a lot of overweight sailors. One of my good buddies got the boot that way but he was ready to get out anyway and the gov't gave him a 20k severance package so win, win for him.

Sad thing is. The "leaders",... "best and brightest", come from college or university. Don't confuse intelligence or wisdom with "education".
I now a cop/leo that can't read or write cursive. I had an Lt. in the Army that didn't know Gen. G. Washington was also our first President. Go figure.

Yes, the USN doesn't call it MOS, it's called Rate. Your rate = your job title. Yes, CTO was an IT with a Top Secret/SCI clearance.

I always thought that was a myth. I remember having to work in the galley during bootcamp, in our second month? Anyway, it was just us recruits and prisoners who also worked there. I guess it beat being in prison!

I did a lot of jobs while working at the galley but never in the kitchen. I even remember being posted in the bathroom, for some reason. I think we even had a log book. That was the worst, the smells... I also remember working in a storage closet handing out mops and what not. Right outside the door, on the ground was a sea of cigarette butts and being I was a smoker who hadn't had a smoke in months, well so tempting. I do recall someone I was working with got some matches from somewhere, I think off a convict, and we smoke some old nasty butts!
