It seems that these shooters have left a trail indicating a ticking time bomb but there is no concern until it hit the fan. Friends and family don't care and don't care therefore even less for the innocents.

There comes a point where it's helping the person, not betraying them if help is sought.

May be I'm wrong...

Once again, everyone is focusing on the gun.

It's like focusing on the penis in cases of rape. Now who in the hell blames the penis in a rape?

Sounds stupid, doesn't it?

The Redneck actually made a pretty damned good observation about the inability of todays youths of coping with the societal stresses (that we all used to learn to deal with) without shooting anyone!

How many people can you kill with a penis?

Last time there was one of these shootings I put MSNBC on just to give myself a dose of "the other side".

I had to turn it off after I heard the term "multiple-clip magazine" used.

So it doesn't bother you that many innocent people are found guilty of a capital crime and could unjustly be executed? Clean up the justice system and maybe we'll talk.

California might have some statistics on that. They did recently make it legal to knowingly infect someone with HIV.

I agree, We take the kids out shooting all the time. We teach them the proper ways to handle a gun so they have a respect for what they can do if handled carelessly. They have no curiosity to try to sneak and handle when I'm not around. And they clean their own weapons.

So far every student the news talked to knew about this kid and how messed up in the head he was.

Threatening students, showing pictures of guns around, they actually banned him from bringing a backpack to school last year because it got so bad.

Why wasn't this lunatic reported to the authorities? Is it because they were afraid? Nobody wanted to be that guy who loses his job for saying something insensitive or offensive?

by the time i was 19 i was carrying a full auto M16 in vietnam.

The shooter was known to the school and cops as a "threatening security risk" and has been since he was expelled from the school.
One new gun law i would not appose is raising the age for buying or having a semiautomatic weapon to 21.
18 year old's would still be able to buy bolt action rifles or lever actions at age 18 for hunting.

Well, back in the day kids would get firearm education in school. Maybe it's time to bring that back.

I remember back in the 70s (yes, I'm old, dammit) I got to fire a M-16 military rifle every week in JROTC. We had a competition, under rigidly controlled conditions (which included the M-16 being set on semi-auto; I only got to try full auto once). Sgt. Smith was a stickler for gun safety.

We even once got to watch him fire an M-60 on full auto. It was awesome. And strangely enough, none of us ever shot up the school.

It's the same idea with young kids. Instead of trying to hide the fact that guns exist from them and just hope they never come across them, the safest thing is to teach them about them and what to do and what not to do if they find one. Removing the taboo from it helps a lot. It's weird, liberals make the same argument for sex education, I don't understand how they think it doesn't work with firearms. It most certainly does.

so, how is your sentiment above, apply to the tens of thousands of deaths from opioids....with all the "don't do drugs" education, and laws against their illegal use, the 2 consistent factors seems to be access and availability...you would think the same reasons would be applicable to guns

To be fair, Sgt. Smith just reinforced what my Dad had already taught me from the time I was old enough to notice we had a gun rack...
  • Always treat a gun like it is loaded.
  • Never point a gun at anything you don't intend to kill.
  • Only kill for food or self-protection.

Those three little rules sum up everything, and I have followed them faithfully. Once in my life have I pointed a gun at another human, and thankfully they ran. I had full intentions of protecting myself (and found out that night that I could pull the trigger if need be... my aim was steady and I had no second thoughts).

Incidentally, I have a friend who inherited some guns from his father, and he asked me to look them over. One is an AR-15, 7.62x39mm. It's a great gun for self-defense from a static location, but lousy for offense... far too big and bulky. IMO it's even bulky for hunting; I prefer my Ruger Mini-14 for that. It's lighter, better accuracy (.223), plenty of power for the average game, as fast as an AR-15, and cheaper to shoot.

For offense, give me an old S&W .357 Magnum revolver any day. I can swing it fast, it's accurate, and it has enough knock-down power to push a big man back 5 feet before he drops. Only 6 shots, but with a few reloader clips, you can reload in under 30 seconds. And the look of a revolver with a big hole in the end of the barrel is usually enough to stop an attacker by itself.

I haven't posted in years. Check in often. Lots has changed around here. This site should stick to it's bread and butter:

Students have spoken about the fact earlier in the day there was a fire drill and there had been rumors going around school that they would do an "active shooter" drill. This caused confusion. Sound familiar? False flag.

Ash Wednesday - Occult ritual sacrifice by the elite?

Social media picture of suspect with USSR/Communist t-shirt. Perfect bad guy. Blame the left/socialism/antifa.

Clearly, Big Brother is up to no good once again. MKULTRA assassin puppet pushed over the edge.

Discuss!!

"Don't do drugs" may be the official slogan but our culture pretty much glorifies drug use, and opioids is an even tougher case because a lot of these people are started on that path by their doctors, they don't make a decision they just want to abuse drugs. Kind of a different animal.

Do we know for sure he made it into the school? I've heard he pulled the fire alarm so people would come outside.

If he pulled the fire alarm, he had to have made it inside, since that's where the fire alarms usually are: inside.

Most of the dead are inside the school,

Then reason and logic dictate he was inside.

To be fair there's a ton of different AR-15 platforms now. They're not all big and bulky, although those seem to be becoming more popular for some reason. I don't see the allure, defeats the whole purpose of it. The idea behind the design was to make a rifle lighter and less unwieldy.

you know, this talk about banning guns is just that....talk.....nothing will change, more school shootings will happen, more mass shootings will happen....by the way, does anyone think that this has anything to do with Remington getting ready to declare bankruptcy, or the gun manufactures sales slowing down since Obama left office?......nahhhhh.......that would be a conspirecy

Actually some of buildings have fire alarms outside near the exit, the idea being that you're not running around inside a burning building looking for a fire alarm. And as I said, he could have shot into the school from outside, so your logic is flawed. Bullets can go through glass, you know?

These are people that think everyone else is responsible for their actions. Their post are amoral and out right disgusting. No responsibility for themselves and no drive to change things. It's just "society's fault" that they don't get the tgings they feel entitled to.

Gotcha , but I'll take your word for it. Not sure I want to visit such site at the moment.

As I understand it, the law in Alabama is that one does have to be 21 to purchase a firearm without parental supervision... as in, the parent has to be present and sign the paperwork.

We also have a law that anyone getting a hunting license past a certain age (I'm grandfathered) must pass a firearm safety course. I like that!
