I don't see this as a Republican or Democrat issue. This is a broken government process. The process they are using doesn’t arrive at a budget that benefits the majority of the USA. It is heavily slated towrads the agenda of whichever party is in office.

If the elected government officials were truly working in the best interest of US citizens that elected them there wouldn’t be a problem.

Creating a budget isn't rocket science. When you add in all the unique special projects and individual state agendas and special interests - the budget gets unwieldy and nobody can agree on anything.

Maybe they need basic operational budget for day to day operations of the USA and a separate one for all of the “extras”? They might fight initially over what goes into which budget but once that is resolved the whole process would be drastically simplified.

it won`t last beyond February first, congress knows that their re-election chances will drop to zero if any law abiding tax paying citizens suffer any hardship from their budget games the one sure thing about politicians is that they care more about getting re-elected than they do about getting their way in congress.

I predict that this will be over by Friday if not sooner, I looked at my local democratic congressmen`s facebook page and he is getting reamed by 90% of the posters.By Wednesday when the democrat congress critters realize how bad they damaged their chances of re-election they will be bending over and accepting any deal the opposition is offering.

I can answer that question from personal experience, no they won`t trust them. what kind of military is it that can`t trust the word of their commander or the word of their country?
I`ll tell you what kind of military, a 3rd world military and we all know how effective 3rd world militaries are in battle.does anyone really believe that the troops will live up to their oath to fight and die for their country when they know that their own government won`t live up to their promise to pay them and take care of them if they should become disabled in battle.


the air force is so desperately short of crew chiefs that they have been grounding flights of planes that tax payers paid millions of dollars to buy,i guess a lot of politicians believe what henry kissenger said, when he said that American military personnel are just animals and so politicians treat them like animals.

The Democrats put forward a bill in congress to fix this. So that military would continue being paid as normal. The Republicans voted against it.

Hopefully the government will reopen before the next military payday, which is Feb 1st.

The first (and hopefully the only) vote to reopen govt will occur no later than 1:00am on Monday morning. (Late Sunday Night.), says Mitch McConnell.

that`s right the illegal will still get paid by the laws that the same congress critters passed who are now shutting down the government, who do these congress critters really work for? the American people who elected them o r the illegals who can`t even legally vote?

the democrats will approve a budget long before February first because after February first the ebt folks won`t be getting their welfare and foodstamps and they will go ape# against the democrats because it was the democrats that promised them free # in exchange for their votes.
