I'd love to see a picture of him sometime. He sounded like quite a guy to have for a grandfather.
I never knew my grandfathers as they passed away just after and before I was born.

My father-in-law made a good fill in for the father/grandfather role. He was a reserve sheriff and reminded me a lot of Jimmy Stewart. I have a nephew who is a deputy sheriff as well.

Funny but true occurrence..

Both my parents fathers were beat cops in Elizabeth, same precinct.

My parents met totally independently of them, at a party in freehold.

I have pics of him but no way to upload them . I'd love to see what you could do with them.

I also want to take this second to thank you for bringing back some fond memories.

Also a shoutout to LightSpeedDriver for being the good guy he is..

If only the world was an easier place to live in that we all had suitable cameras to fit our needs.

I Have To Say Something
You guys are awesome, in the proper meaning off the word.
And I mean GUYS here.

I come in to the lounge after a long day, finding all of the boys having deep felt, heartwarming conversation. Then there is a dispute and you boys handle it in the most admirable manner. No cuddling. Every one takes responsibility for him self.
It was wonderful to see this.

Yes there were some misunderstandings, a couple punches were taken, but you all communicated with out losing your integrity.
You made me cry. You made me trust that we can figure this silly thing called life out together.
Keep being boys, you.

Now if this doesn't make sense to any one, so be it.

It makes perfect sense to me ... and we can figure this silly thing called life out together .. and do it with joy, laughter and sometimes tears.

How are you dear WIS ? I’m hoping your day was at least somewhat tolerable with a few sprinkles of fun thrown in.
Love reading your posts... there is a fluidity and charm to them that is always pleasing. Thank you for expressing yourself in such a unique way.

Still depressed, but it's easier to ignore with other people around more often.

And you?

Hmmm. How different we are as beings. When I am down I find it easier to ignore in solitude. But I can see why others can be a distraction. I prefer to face my fear alone.
It is wonderful, I hope, that you have a safe place to rest. I had no idea you were in such dire straits.
Keep writing, it is a gratifying release.
How I am? Thank You for asking. I lack time for the things I find important in life. Due to what? Life

Silly isn't it, the circumstances that present themselves inhibit our dreams and goals.

A Shout out to WIS and Lucid for being here today.

Joe, this in my nephew the deputy sheriff in both of his uniforms. During the night of the arrival of hurricane Harvey, he was on duty. All the radios were out so all he could do was monitor the traffic (people were driving around just like it was any other night) in his patrol car taking shelter under an awning at a gas station.

Thank You Sheye, now you made me tear up with your compliments. Which is a good thing, tears are rain from our hearts.

Our days are a struggle and if we can't see that we are blind, so yes we bump into each other and make amends.
One of my favorite quotes is "To fail is human, to forgive is divine" and darn it if I can recall where it comes from.

Never mind how my day was, I had time to be here for a little while, that matters. I pray yours was a pleasant day.

It's really only in times of distress that people appreciate the fact we have good men and woman across the nation willing to be first responders, and that goes from police officers and firefighters to the truly unsung heroes of our time....the EMT's..

Ok gang I'm going to call it a night.

Respectfully,

Yes, the time spent here is what matters to you as far as unwinding, finding inspiration and getting those wonderful hugs.

My day was pleasant enough , but I have a slight headache , and I’m thinking of calling it an early night for myself.

G’night all and big shedanigan hugs for everyone.

My thoughts exactly. The physical and mental strength of those first responders is unreal. Going to work, day after day, to see people having the worst day of their lives, and then helping them out. And they are not doing that for the salary, in my understanding the salary is not that great. There are easier ways to make money.

Another sheriff that I appreciate currently lives across the street from us. Before hurricane Harvey made landfall he came around to us and others in my neighborhood making sure that we were stocked up on food and water for the storm. I don't know the details of what exactly he did once the storm came through but he worked five days and nights straight without coming home.

Have a good night Meathead you lug.
