yes plus various illegal and improvised methods. its the human mind thats deadly. they said the firing went on for 20 mins. so u can imagine when u see these couple min long clips that have hundreds of rounds being fired what it was really like there.

Yeah, saw some of the videos.. truly horrendous. We're going to see some changes to sporting events and concerts, I think. Venues may even have to be closed down if they are at risk to vantage points for firing from outside the actual location.

This wont make sense until the investigators are able to retrace the suspects steps (real life / online life / etc) in addition to what they learn from the people in custody (assuming they are actually linked to the crime and not just on a 24 hour (+/- depending on state) investigative hold).

Until then all we have is speculation and to be honest it doesn't help any of us figure out the why.

Not to mention we have already seen first hand how info broadcast was not accurate or complete. We should, hopefully, know more in the coming days.

In the meantime thoughts and prayers to those who lost their lives (and their families dealing with that reality) in addition to those who were injured / wounded.

I was going to ask, and indeed it looks like that is the case re: deadliest mass shooting in USA.

This is horrible.

Makes me wonder if Maryilou rang the police beforehand? and what response might she have gotten, it would seem that she had prior knowledge and tried to frantically clear the crowd and was escorted out only for the firing to commence a short time later.

This doesn`t look "Islamic terrorist" related to me, a different type of mass murderer of innocent people.

You know, these numbers will probably go even higher (unfortunately). With so many rounds being fired and the duration of the shooting, along with the massive crowd of people being fired at, it's surprising that the numbers aren't closer to 500 dead. He was shooting some sort of automatic weapon into a crowd of more than 30,000 people, from an elevated position.

Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo gave update - 50 dead at this time

From Fox news

Interview with one of the performers at concert, who had been on earlier, ( a local) states that hotel was booked weeks in advance - indicates shooter had planned this for long time . Windows in this hotel are sealed - would have to break them out before shooting

Also a former FBI counter intelligence states the in past would only be concerned if windows could be opened ......

To be honest im growing tired of the "false sense of security" coupled with the idea to restrict rights in an effort to convince the public at large they are safer.

The suspect(s) violated the law - period.

Passing new laws / restrictions wont change that fact and to be honest I doubt it is going to prevent another incident like this from happening again.

If a person is intent on breaking the law they are going to find a way to do it - regardless of safety protections put in place.

We have lost Presidents who, by and far, are surrounded by some of the best trained marksmen / guardsmen in the world.

Society needs to crawl out from under the covers and our elected officials need to find backbones to confront these situations head on instead of portraying everyone as a victim.

Just my opinion.

Full auto is highly regulated, but with a little know how and the right parts, a semi auto can be reconfigured to full auto. From what I heard on the news clips, he had to have been using drum magazines, because there were far more shots than just a 30 round mag.

I just don't understand people like this. I really don't. I honestly cannot think of anything...and I mean anything, that would drive me to hurt others like this.

I was watching sky news earlier but had no idea it was this bad. Bloody hell

Just wanted to add that some people are saying they are hearing more than one gun going off in some of the videos and making the assumption of more than one shooter. There could be several explanations

The lone shooter may of had a gun in each hand. If he was firing from a balcony, a balcony railing could be a good support to mount a weapon one

Or the sound waves of the gun fire bouncing off other buildings may make the gun fire in the videos sound a little off

The eyewitness made it sound like the woman saying they were all going to die was not really warning them, rather mocking them. Maybe thats just how it came across?

Shucks, if only there were more guns then this kind of thing wouldn't happen.

I was just saying to the wife yesterday after we saw a car crash - if only there were more cars on the roads then there'd be less accidents.

Truly horrific and thoughts with those affected, but be realistic - it won't be the last time this kind of thing happens when you allow an idiot like this to buy whatever automatic weapons and as much ammo as they like.

I hope not too, but the world is so dangerous right now that crowds in an arena with a perfect vantage point to shoot down on them seems like a risk too big to take.
