1) What year is it? 2017. It is 2017 to EVERYONE on Earth. Every check or document you sign atheist or theist is dated 2017. That is precisely 2017 years since the birth of Jesus Christ. This fact must REALLY get the goats of all those Atheists who have to acknowledge the year in which we live... maybe they could file a federal lawsuit!

How come our calendar is called the "Gregorian" calendar and not the Jesus Christ calendar?

How come it wasn't adopted until around 1600 years after Jesus' birth, if he existed at all. How come it replaced the Julian calendar, which marked the birth of Julius Caesar just 46 years earlier?

Because Pope Gregory adjusted the Julian Calendar (established by Julius Caesar) by a few days because the Julian calendar was not accurate astronomically and was going to get worse over time. It is important for agriculture and navigation that the calendar be accurate.

Also, it took Christianity some time to spread to where it became the predominant faith in the world.

How come Julius Caesar's effigy was displayed on a cross? Why does a coin commemorating his death feature a comet/star?

Was Jesus of Nazareth, if he existed, really Caesarian?

Absolutely not.

Would one of Caesar's recent relatives have grown up for 20+ years in some dirt poor, backwater 12 house village? Would he then have died by crucifixion and not have played at least the Roman citizen card?

If God wanted to say the trinity of "coequal beings" was real, why wouldn't He just say it outright? Why the vague words that require a specific interpretation? The Bible is really long and it has books that were supposedly written across 2 millenia, so it's not like there weren't ample opportunities to just say it directly.

Have you read this scripture verse...

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

If he gave us every answer to every question, then what have we learned?

Are you one of those people who want a participation award...or do you want to work for it?

The Hebrew scholars, including the high priest, saw it as Jesus claiming deity. Just read a bit further and look at their response.

Where does it say the Holy spirit, or Jesus is equal to the Father in that passage?

it doesn't...

though it is pretty neat how Christians have had two thousand years to find anything in the bible to prove a trinity, and prophecies about Jesus coming which are mostly bunk as well

trinity = three beings that are co equal, which is not found anywhere in the bible

trinity = dogma

C'mon, a light just came on in your head, didn't it?

Hardly... lol

The Trinity is not three beings who are co-equal. They are three revealed aspects of the same God.

Like the 10 emanations of God in Kabbalah are aspects of the one God.

Because of the greatness of God, those three aspects seem to us to be complete beings in themselves, but that is because of our limitations.

There is no dis-unity in God.

and Did Jesus not point out the ignorance of the people of "the book" or the scroll?

Yeah, they did think he was claiming to be divine... their mistake, not his

The Trinity is not three beings who are co-equal. They are three revealed aspects of the same God.

Which leads us back to the original argument... Jesus didn't once claim to be God... he did claim to be the son of God... but not God

others did... HE knew better...

He even quotes the Shema, and claims to have a God... and like i've previously stated... God does not have a God

regardless it doesn't matter what i say, the trinity doctrine is ingrained in Christian theology

It doesn't matter if its a false teaching, you people are going to believe it no matter what

Ok, I'll leave you alone...even though you had a weak attempt at proving the Trinity is false.
I have been studying the scriptures for a few years as well. Every time I start over reading the Bible, I catch something that blows me away...like this...

Did you know that God created light BEFORE he created the Sun or any sun or anything that we think of as giving us our light? Dude...my mind is blown!!!

Sure don't get me wrong its a fantastic book...

I just don't like some of the crap that comes out of it... or the religion based on it...

and i hate what said religion turns people into... not all of course, but most

Did Caesar become a Christian later in life or was he just a cynical old politician who wanted to big-note himself?

Since he died and was deified before Jesus, if he existed, was born, I'm gonna say no. And since he was assassinated by his best friend Brutus, I'm gonna say that his death wasn't an effort to "big note" himself either.

Then Jupiter, the Father, spoke..."Take up Caesar’s spirit from his murdered corpse, and change it into a star, so that the deified Julius may always look down from his high temple on our Capitol and forum." He had barely finished, when gentle Venus stood in the midst of the Senate, seen by no one, and took up the newly freed spirit of her Caesar from his body, and preventing it from vanishing into the air, carried it towards the glorious stars. As she carried it, she felt it glow and take fire, and loosed it from her breast: it climbed higher than the moon, and drawing behind it a fiery tail, shone as a star

Ok, just one more example of the Trinity given in the Bible.

John 14:23, "Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and WE will come to him, and make OUR abode with him." So here you have God the Father and God the Son who will make their abode with them and no mention of the Holy Spirit until vs26, "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, WHOM THE FATHER WILL SEND in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you."

and still... no mention of Jesus being equal to God... or the holy spirit for that matter

So... just because Jesus mentioned all three parts of your trinity... it must be valid! lol

Heres some more interesting stuff...

You said "i and my father are one" is proof Jesus is God...

well....

As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Apparently Everyone that believes in him is also God...

Nifty eh...

Oops, my bad. I got my AD's and BC's (and Caesars) confused.

Still, Julius was not actually crucified.

Also, Ovid was not born when Caesar died. So, not a witness, and the only surviving texts are from nearly 1,000 years after Christ, and so could have been modified to include Christological symbology to be more appealing to a Christian audience because Augustine and Jerome both criticized it for it's "dangerous paganness".

Who said Ovid was a witness to the death and deification of Julius Caesar?

But no, Ovid was born and died too early for his poetry to have been affected by Christianity.

Publius Ovidius Naso ( 20 March 43 BC – AD 17/18), known as Ovid in the English-speaking world, was a Roman poet who lived during the reign of Augustus. He was a contemporary of the older Virgil and Horace, with whom he is often ranked as one of the three canonical poets of Latin literature.
en.wikipedia.org...

Plus, there are the coins that depict "Caesar's Comet" and the cross upon which Caesar's effigy was displayed. Those were not struck during the era of Christiandom.

Virtually all Christian symbolism is borrowed and has been done before.

The authors of the Gospels were not contemporaries of Jesus of Nazareth either, and not witnesses to his death or resurrection.

Not sure on your tastes, but its ATS member must movie

it deals in traveling through time to catch a terrorist.

With a trippy twist that can be quite mind blowing at the end which is noticeable during the movie but easily missed

Thanks for the tip. Will give it a go.

Further:

Time travel is fixed at the pace of time. Have to pass on to see 'everywhen'. Even then, meddling is carefully controlled. Otherwise time would be changing all the time, history events would be all screwed up, because like other endeavors of humanity, (especially corrupt humanity), unfair advantage is sought after by selfish control freaks who would change events in the past in their favor.

Thats why time travel is not allowed, in this dimension.

For same reason most of us who have had experiences speak of them, to us they are proof. Absolute proof. It's very frustrating to us that we can't translate them to you or you would understand beyond a shadow of a doubt.

It is real. He is real.

There is no question, not anymore, not after that experience.
So all you need as proof is someone's feelings? Do you see how that could get confusing really quick?

Nothing I am about to write is an original thought, of that I am sure. With 100+ Billion people who have ever lived, perhaps no thought is truely unique.

Here is the absolute proof that Jesus Christ IS GOD.

Jesus was a poor carpenter who grew up in a predominantly illiterate and tiny corner of the world. He lived just 33 years, the last few making claims of his Godhood. Which ultimately lead to his death. He was not a general, or dictator or ruler or king or president... he was a simple and humble servant.

2) Jesus Christ is the single most influential figure in all of human history. His name is known across all races, creeds, ethnicities, geographic boundaries and even time itself. Julius Caesar who? Genghis Khan what? Hitler? Stalin? Lincoln? Washington? Minor figures in history compared to the giant that is Jesus Christ.

3) He defeated death and rose three days later. He even restored others to life. Proof of his resurrection lies directly in the behavior of his followers, who were so terrified of the Roman Guard that they denied Jesus while he lived to save their own skin. But after he rose again and walked among them, they TRULY believed and most went to a gruesome death without ever denying the Messiah again. The bones of Jesus will never be discovered.

4) He appeared to me supernaturally 11 years ago, when I was an arrogant atheist. The light shined so brightly, yet there was no source... it was a room, with no windows, no light source... the most beautiful sight... but I digress. I understand my personal experience is no proof to you... but I never claimed to provide YOU with proof... only to present proof.

Jesus Christ lives and He IS God.

Which is why the entire world turns on a timetable marked by his birth... most of whom HATE him and deny him at every turn.
He is coming, there is still time to change your heart.

Now... my atheist friends... commence the trolling
Ok, by now i hope you can see how your position and the angle you have brought to this board is being recieved. Most everyone can see your arrogance has nothing to do with your beliefs in any god and much more to do with your artificailly heightened sense of superiority to those who don't acquiesce to your beliefs. You may be new here, (or not) but a lot of us have seen this exaggerated personality you are presenting to us more than a few times before. We recognize it for what it is. Insecurity and inexperience in this discussion. It is obvious you need to do more reading than writing. You will have a much better experience here if you do your research first and then write your thread.
