This right here. I'm not a dem but a lot of my dem friends do get scared for their families because of what they hear coming from the right. The right is constantly laughing and saying that the dem party is finished. These party followers on both sides see it as a way of life, so one side telling the other side that they are finished is like saying you have taken there hopes and dreams and then laughing at them about it. Added to it the fact that the repubs stole (they believe) a judge and the percentage of them that think the presidency was also taken, well, what did the right expect would happen? I guess they really must think the left is full of weak sjw crybabies who would just roll over. It doesn't mater what side you play for human beings are dangerous even at the best of times. If a civil war does start both sides are going to lose, badly.

labeling all gun owners the same is completely different than saying guns are too easly accessible to the mentally ill, there IS a difference, you know this right?

Who gets to label who is mentally ill? If someone like Obama is in charge what is to stop him from saying a tea party member is mentally ill? If it's up to some Madow loving psychiatrist, maybe supporting Trump makes you mental. That is a very slippery slope.

In the case of this guy - was he mentally ill when he got his gun? I really doubt it, but he was radicalized - so what is your next solution yearly mental checkups, monthly, daily?

This is what it boils down to - we don't live in a perfect world, we live in a f'd up world, and pretending it isn't does not change reality no matter how much you want it too. The best thing we can do is face reality and give ourselves the chance to protect ourselves when things go bad.

Perhaps your Dem friends wouldn't be near as distressed if they weren't brainwashed into thinking the election was actually stolen or that that SCOTUS seat was stolen, because neither of those things happened. But I have been subjected to exactly the same thing from the previous administration. They want to raise my taxes, which I already can't pay, to pay for things that don't mean a damn (Paris Accord). They want to take away the gun I use to defend my place against criminals and wild animals. They want to force me to buy healthcare even though I can't get a job because the economy I should poor thanks to all their regulations.

I can't work, can't defend myself, but somehow I'm supposed to be happy about being poor and defenseless?

Like I said, if it was at the whim of politics it would be changing anytime the White House changed hands. What I'm talking about is huge paradigm shifts. When homosexuality was dropped as a diagnosis it wasn't even a widely accepted behavior. So you can't argue that it was dropped because of political correctness. The reason it was dropped was because of the cultural revolutions of the 50s to 70s that led to women/blacks/homosexuals/etc being accepted as more or less equal.

So you can't argue that it was dropped due to politics. I mean Nixon was President at the time. It was dropped because society had changed to the point where homosexuals were seen as people and not subhumans. That's the kind of paradigm shift I'm talking about when I refer to politics influencing mental disorder diagnoses. Not a Democrat getting elected to office so now all gun owners are diagnosed as crazy.

Can you imagine armed Represetatives and Senators? Kneeling behine desks and shooting at each other when retoric gets too heated over some bill.
