And how exactly is that different from when Russia first went in to Syria? The agreement only came about because of Turkey shooting down a Russian aircraft. There was no cooperation agreement or hotline before that, and no dangerous incidents.

Fuel degradation could also be an issue. I'm speaking as a control systems expert, not a Tomahawk expert, so I don't know if the missiles are preloaded with fuel or fueled prior to deployment. If the fuel performed poorly enough, though, that would directly affect the ability of the controls to manipulate the trajectory.

There should be a "hit the target or money back" guarantee. That would be Trumpy

Did Assad (or his forces) launch an attack on the victims? Yes.

Actually we dont know because no one has shown ANY #ING GOD DAMMED EVIDENCE!
And dammed if I take the goverments word for it!

All we know is chemical weapons where used and both Assad and the Jihadi scum he is fighting both have them. Onley diffrence is the Jihadis have a reason to use them and Assad doesnt.
edit on 7-4-2017 by crazyewok because: (no reason given)

On the other hand, maybe Russia has been waiting and planning for a long time for a reason to attack.

I tend to think they are as corrupt as us, but with less control at the top. If they were planning some mastermind attack they would just do it.

It's the response of America if/when one of our jets is shot down over Syria.

NO I'M NOT ADVOCATING FOR US TO BE SHOT DOWN

Sorry, some people seem to get that misconception from my participation in the thread. I'm worried about a possible response that could end in that result. For some reason people think that is inconceivable and/or impossible.

With this event it's very likely (IMO) that a response will happen in the form of one of our jets being shot down.

I sincerely hope i am wrong.

The UN are the good guys?? To hell with the UN!! Those blue helmets should have a target on them.

ETA... got my helmet colors confused.

UN is not good guys or bad guys. It's just a platform created to avoid another large conflict. It's made of us. When it's not functional it's because we suck. They are talking about it at UN as we speak.

There also wasn't a current hostile environment directly involving actions in the region between the two nations prior to that as well.

S-400's can take out most of our aircraft except the F-22 if I'm not mistaken. I really hope that isn't tested.

I really mean that.

Exactly right. That's due to weather, probably. It doesn't need to be a storm or anything that fantastic, just different air masses in the area.

GPS receivers collect satellite signals with precise timing, then calculate location based on the relative phase shifts in those signals. Anything that slightly affects one signal more than another will create an error, and air does affect the speed of EM waves propagating through it. I've had my car GPS showing me driving in the field beside the highway many times.

Metallic reflection causes sudden large shifts because the receiver is accepting a reflected signal rather than an original, sort of like trying to see something through a mirror. It looks farther away than if no mirror was used, because the light has to travel past you to the mirror, then back to you instead of just directly to you.

Yeah, and the UN cant be trusted either, jokes aside. They can be used and because people still trust their word for whatever reason, their word can be used to start something catastrophic.

Once again, Russia doesn't want a shooting war. The US doesn't want a war with Russia. Why is that part so hard to understand? Russia isn't going to start shooting down American aircraft.

I thought Assad destroyed his? Or are you admitting he violated UN directives, along with Russia?

THATS what I was talking about earlier.. THIS is going to be an issue. People have SHORT memories. Russia has placed itself in a precarious position from having agreed to receive and dispose of chems.. when it can be said they have not. KWIM?

Seems to be a lot of fighter jet activity out of Buckley AFB east of Denver today - I imagine heightened alert? Usually I only hear a lot of activity over the weekends, that's when they seem to do a lot of their maneuvers. I've heard them flying over several times today.

Air mass/pressure alone won't affect a GPS system. Humidity and cloud cover can though.

And like I've said over and over, it won't be Russia, it would likely be Syria via an S-400 platform.

What they want and what ends up transpiring are often at odds.

Besides, how would you know any better than anyone else what Russia will and wont do? You cant make that claim any better than anyone else.

Id agree, but with all those nations who are backing the action we just took ( and their own NON action) .. Russia is staring down the barrel at the moment... and not the trigger end.

I will have to take up for Russia here. They felt backed into a corner by the Obama administration. Ukraine and Crimea were not what we were told (and I got this directly from the lips of a Russian student). We stirred those pots to try and distract Russia from Syria. They need the Russia/Iran/Syria trade agreement.

The thing is, I think they misjudged Trump. They expected him to be as meek on actual conflict as Obama, and more open to negotiation. I think Trump would still like negotiation, but he wants to negotiate from a position of strength. He has that advantage now.

www.thedailybeast.com...

Pentagon officials say the U.S. is investigating the role that Russia may have played in Syria's chemical weapons attack on its own civilians earlier this week. According to an Associated Press report, a drone that belonged to either Russia or Syria was seen hovering over the site on Tuesday after the attack, which killed more than 80 people, including at least 20 children. That same drone reportedly returned to the area later, just before a hospital was bombed. The hospital raid was allegedly an attempt at covering up evidence of the chemical attack, according to AP sources.
