Then it should not have been represented as such.

It wasn't.

So it is a petition but I am to ignore that out of over 300 million only 380k participated.
And from that I am to extrapolate "the american people" want this.

You are full of it.
So is your online petition.

Are these the same polls that had him losing by 12 points on Election Day? Or were these done by actually polling people.

How about denying your own ignorance and check yourself?

I noticed you ignored my poll already. Full of it indeed...

Looks like the American people DO want to see Trump's taxes despite his insistence that we don't.

From this petition " the american people" do NOT want this.
380k want this
that is not "the american people"

Obama had Birthers and Trump has Taxers.

Trump should ignore and stall as much as Obama did

My inner devil thinks he should present the public with fraudulent tax returns, refuse to authorize the IRS to authenticate any of the information in them, and then spend 4-8 years mocking and ridiculing anyone who doubts them.

All petitions have low numbers of people. What you should extrapolate from it is that a lot of people want this. This in this case isn't even Trumps tax returns, it's an official White House response on the matter.

If all petitions have low numbers then how do you honestly site them as "the american people"

Like I said, you guys don't care about the polls anyways (since you don't want to accept the one I just posted). How are Americans supposed to reach out to Trump in a way so that he accepts that we DO want to see his tax returns? You didn't answer that question in your rush to try to dismiss my poll.

Because they represent a group larger than just those who signed it.

That is awesome
do you have a reference to tell me how large the group is? I would love to see it.

the march last week was much more of an indicator than an online petition will ever be

So you are saying that we liberals should be protesting to get Trump to release his tax returns? Whenever we do that you guys just label as snowflakes or accuse us of starting riots.

You clearly are trying everything in your power to not admit that there is nothing I could present to you that would get you to agree that the American people want to see Trump's taxes.

How about you read the sites terms and conditions.

"Participation in the We the People platform does not create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person."

Of course we don't care about the polls. How could we trust the polls that told us we had no chance of our candidate making it to where he is today. When it comes to reaching out to Trump. They can do it the same way we could with Obama. Sign your pointless petition on the WH website and get ignored. The only way you could reach out to Obama was if you had some race baiting BS to push. Now, it's time for the left to deal with the stark line they drew between the country. I say until the left ends all their violence and constant race baiting. I hope all their wants or needs falls on deaf ears.

No. That's not how it works. Generally, businesses consider signatures on a petition to be worth 1% of the audience that actually cares about an issue, but unlike polling, petition numbers aren't exact. Using that, you could say 37 million people want a response from Trump about his tax returns. That's the logic that initially went into the 100k marker for a response as well, because the Obama team considered that to be representative of ~3% of the country at the time.

The problem is that you don't know how many people know about the petition in the first place, believe it or not most don't just run around looking for petitions to sign. For example, I hadn't heard about this petition until this thread. Next, out of those who do know about it, a lot of people just don't care to sign their names to something. Participation rates for these types of things are low. That doesn't mean people don't care about it, they just don't want to participate.

1% of the American people. How many of those are illegal immigrants?

I know you don't care currently, but you are shooting yourself in the foot with this statement. All you are going to do is cause the liberals to fight harder against the Trump agenda. Yes, that means more protests and possibly even riots.
