Hi! Seems as though You could use some relief from the heat down there? Am I reading that right? If so, Please send some of that Our way. Is gettin pretty chilly here and it would be nice to have some heat!! Just sayin... oH. If You use like a hundred window fans, it might blow that heat all the way here!!?!?!? Naaaahhh. Reached 40 (104) for me yesterday, and set to reach that again today. I don't have it as bad as people slightly more inland who are reaching the 45's or so, but, you know! Still hot!

Possible thunderstorm tonight we'll see if that shows up! Hehe. Summer storms! Ahoy!

Well this reminded me of once I ported off the shore of Morocco.
Please read this in some sort of British accent.
It was hot as hell without a wind, the temp outside read 45, no counting in the ship with out air condition. I was steaming over my 'tators and what nots, when our neutered captain drove into the galley, with out permission mind you, and demanded ice cream for desert.
One does not enter the kitchen with out permission.
"Yes Sir" (you effin idiot) of course"
Even though I dished it out just minutes prior to clearing the table from the main course, the glorious "ice cream" was soup.
I served it with the words.
"Captain your ice cream as you wished" Idiot.
I had pie and whip cream ready for the boys.
They ate it in silence knowing he, the neutered Captain had ordered it.

Hey guys and gals!!

Swinging by to see what's going on in here and it seems that I have missed quite a bit! I've been able to get out the past two mornings and get a few trains coming through here after all the rain Tuesday and Wednesday. The first two photos are from Thursday morning and boy was it colder than a well digger's ass on the Fourth of July with the wind that was blowing.

Bound for a crew change at Hinton, West Virginia to continue its run east over the Alleghenies. An eastbound coal train thunders through town with loads bound for Newport News, Virginia. on a dreary and grey day.


With a short local freight train in tow coming through town after leaving the yard at South Charleston. CSX 2251 leads what is known as the "Gauley Trolley" east towards Deep Water and the connection with the former Virginian Railway.


Rolling east through town after working the yard at South Charleston, West Virginia. Eastbound freight Q302 is seen making its way through town heading for Hinton, West Virginia for a crew change.


On a depressing note though........

I've been following the situation with the wildfire that is still going on down around Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville, Tennessee. This one event can be compared to some of the wildfires that happen out in the Rockies or in California. It has already been confirmed by the National Park Service, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms that this fire was intentionally set. The really disgusting thing about this is that some soulless individual actually started this fire that has so far claimed close to 1,000 structures and thirteen lives, including a married couple from Canada, in Sevier County. If they EVER find the sick individual, or individuals, that caused this. Tennessee did bring back the electric chair a couple of years ago after a court injunction on lethal injections in the state. Maybe, just maybe, if the individuals that caused this are brought to justice. Maybe they will be treated with the same fate the way they treated the people that died in the fires.

Yep ... any lowlife caught and convicted of lighting fires should be subjected to a public stoning !

Here in Oz we just lost over 9000 ha. Locally just a couple of weeks back.
Now we are a few days into Summer and we are seeing top temps of 48c. In some parts.
Sydney saw 38c.

These conditions bring out the morons though ... hoping for a mild Summer !!
