The MSM is absolutely evil:

CNN Pooh-Poohs Latest Clinton Email Bombshell Because It Came From Reddit

These f*ckers really think we only value their spoonfed news reports.

That is the only reason she's in the Presidential race. Luckily, the truth always finds a way to be revealed.

The same people who utilize forums like Reddit and ATS are the same ones who will be instrumental in getting Donald Trump elected. It's no wonder CNN "poo-poohs" info that originates on Reddit. I am SOOOOO looking forward to Donald Trump paying CNN back for trashing him or anything that might help him!

BTW.. Trump-friendly FoxNews.com has this Reddit story as their primary headline tonight.

Gah!!! I don't want any blame for electing Trump just because I use ATS and don't support Hillary.

You guys have at it though!

I didn't say ALL ATS and Reddit users. But as we've seen from social media polls, Trump is favored by a large margin by the online community.

For those just tuning in to this thread, here's a summary of what the uproar is about.

I knew that. But, I always feel this need to state that I don't support Trump because if I m criticizing Hillary, I am inevitably accused at some point of being a Trump supporter.

There's no response from Hilary's people, no response from Platte River. No denial from either.

But it all must be wrong because, you know, Reddit followed the clues to find the information.

Not sure if anyone knows, but every time someone posts via Reddit, or on any forum there is an IP that is attached to that post.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but if Reddit had all those IP logs, then the easiest way to find a trace route back is follow the IP's. I wouldn't even be worried about that idiot spoofing his IP, or running it through a proxy, because anyone that would ask a question like that is a complete moron.

And the fact that idiot recently changed his user name on FB proves a lot of guilt.

He's done like dinner.

All the links are saved on archive.is

They're backed up and I'm sure a lot of people have them backed up via methods not connected to the internet. Probably printed hardcopies too.

The pot is simmering now.

Will those archives have his IP address? Is that published at reddit or would reddit administrators have to save their logs?

What if Hillarys camp didn't lose the laptop and thumb drive? Now that we know this is Combetta wouldn't it be something if he passed that thumb drive onto Wikileaks?

The Platte River employee told the FBI that he deleted the emails from the Gmail account, but that turned out not to be entirely true. Investigators later found 940 emails sent or received in 2010 that, as of this past June, were still in the account. The FBI found that 56 of them have been identified as being currently classified at the “confidential” level.

After the employee deleted emails from the “Archive Laptop,” he shipped it by U.S. mail or UPS (he apparently couldn’t remember) to an unidentified Clinton aide at an office location. (The precise address is redacted.)

But that aide never received the laptop. She told the FBI that “Clinton’s staff was moving offices at the time, and it would have been easy for the package to get lost during the transition period.”

The thumb drive containing the second copy of the archive also was never found

Why didn't he just delete his account though? I'm on reddit (and am female, and a Trump supporter, AND over 40! (gasp)!
so it puzzles me that he was so careless. Or did he think deleting all his activity somehow looked better?

Wait, I am talking about someone who doesn't use a throwaway account.

What an election season this has been! v

I don't know how long Reddit archives ip addresses, but think about the fact that he used gmail. How long does google keep iplogs?

Or his ISP.

How far back was the subpoena served?

A year plus at this point, I think.

I assume the guy could always just use an anonymous VPN / Tor to access the site, and then the IP would do no good.
I would think he would know how to do this being an IT guy, but based on his ignorance in posting these I'm not sure.

I'd have to say that it is either complete arrogance or stupidity. And I'm leaning on stupidity. It's so easy to use a proxy to post something, and it's obvious that he did not want anyone to know who he was or what he was in the process of doing, but he just didn't bother with it. If you read the whole fiasco and him forgetting to archive emails and also fail to implement the request to delete all emails over 60 days old (as illegal as that request was!), I think we're talking a seriously incompetent idiot here.

I certainly wouldn't hire anyone that screwed up a client as he has. Heck, if I was his client and he failed to do TWO things I asked him to do, he'd be out on the street. There's just no excuse for things like that. Hasn't he heard of a freaking 'todo' list? Anyone who hires him in the future (not that this would ever happen at this point) would have to put post-it notes on his forehead so he doesn't forget basic tasks from customers.

Reddit and ATS in general are the only two websites I frequent to recieve any information.

I don't know if many here have been around Reddit, but there is a rather large group of people there who clearly don't work and/or have no social lives... and I mean it's bad.

I'm telling you... a DDoS is a beautiful sunset compared to some of the downright illegal and malicious activity complete strangers can and will inflict upon other people for no reason. Can't say I've had anything happen to me, but a friend of mine was swatted and it was pretty traumatic for him.

With that said, there is an intelligence to be found there. For the most part, Reddit is thorough - and I mean very thorough. Where ATS (as of late) was essentially taken everything thrown at it without hardly any criticism, Reddit is full of staunch cynicism and (imo) a very realistic take on things versus the bull# that we're led to believe on a myriad of topics/subjects.

One specific instance is video games - Reddit and it's users take that # seriously and it is amazing yet insane the lengths that people will go to cite and back up each and every claim they make when proving a point. Say a developer said one thing, but it turned out to be a lie - don't think for a second that at one point, Reddit will tear that lie down.

If this were the case, I'd say it's a relatively smart move. Assuming he is the real deal, it's safe to say he's well knowledged in network security and would have no issues with potential problems that his actions may cause.

I'll be honest I used Reddit for help when I was in college. If you need help troubleshooting a television, don't even call a help number - just ask Reddit, or search Reddit.

This will be interesting to follow.

The question im thinking is, when was the handle created? If it had existed for quite a while, then its probably the man in question. If it was created just before the post, then its bs.
