So policemen and women are parasites for living off of tax dollars?

...women??

Policemen and firefighters are not politicians. They have no access to lobbyists, influence peddlers, etc. Name one thing Bernie Sanders did to warrant what he earned during his time as senator.

IMO, we should reduce senator salaries and give more to police and firefighters. Now THEY earn what we pay them. Bernie and his kind? Not so much. They take more than they give.

Really?

So the guy buys an AVERAGE priced house in that market and suddenly he's all bad and stuff?

Jesus, forgive him for buying a house, I didn't know that automatically made you a shill.

Some people, complain about anything or anybody for some partisan kicks.

What a non story.

~Tenth

Some people view him as a parasite.
Living off of tax dollars.
Owns a 'summer home'.

Some of the little peons that actually earn something other than tax dollars don't own their own home because they don't get a 'living wage' that we heard so much about from his type.

His 'type' is a hypocrite.

So policemen and women are parasites for living off of tax dollars?
Fire departments are parasites too?

This part is not directed at you Butcher.
What has being a socialist got to do with buying a house anyways?
Just more ignorance of what socialism is.

Firemen and policemen actually provide something of value for those tax dollars... big difference between these type of civil servants and a politician.

Hmm your founding fathers felt differently about that.
That's why they made congress one of the 3 focal points of life in the United States.

They also lived in plush houses while claiming to defend the common man.

This... Is bull#... and you know it.

Founders never intended for there to be professional politicians. I think congress / senate should only be in session part of the year, the position should be come with a very minimal salary, and I definitely believe we need term limits. 3 terms for congress and two for senate.

Yes I assume you have policewomen also.

But you make a valid point.
Single mothers on the dole must be parasites as well.
And the disabled.

Politicians do a lot.
They keep the country running. Whether you agree with their political stance or not.

This... Is bull#... and you know it.

The only other way would be theft or inheritance.

Really?
1...How about thrift. That would work to help accumulate 'vast personal wealth" would it not?
2...And how about a second salary. Jane Sanders money. She was among other things a college president for a number of years and I don't suspect on a volunteer basis. She got paid.
So there, just off the top of my head two ways to accumulate 'vast personal wealth other than your negative suggestions.
3...Oh, and I am willing to be that neither you or I have any idea on what kind of 'inheritance Mrs. Sanders has received.
4...Let's see, oh yeah, their four children are grown and on their own and likely have had little impact on the Sanders' ''vast wealth'' for a a while.

And what's with this idea that you hold that, not he, but they, a married couple of almost 30 years, have accumulated 'vast wealth" Comparing this couple buying a couple of houses to the 1% oligarchs who own 60 or whatever % of the worlds wealth demonstrates a profound lack of understanding of the worlds economic picture.

Ok. I see you meant policemen/women. It looked like you were putting women in a separate category and I wasn't seeing where your point was headed. Nobody was implying that all people that receive their income from taxpayers are worthless parasites.

As usual, you emotionally react to a PIECE of what is said, pull it out of context, and hyperbolize. You must all take lessons from the same place the liberal media trains their mouthpieces.

As I said, politicians tend to be the scum of the earth. Not all....but too many get comfy and cozy in time and become easily influenced and ineffective, preferring to hobnob with lobbyists and influence peddlers rather than work for the good of the American people.

Again. Name one great thing Bernie Sanders did in his long years of public service that warranted the money he was paid by taxpayers.

Anyone who voted against the disastrous illegal Iraq war deserves every penny of their salary.
There is one.

Name one thing Bernie Sanders did to warrant what he earned during his time as senator.

He won an election and served as mayor of his city after being voted for by the citizens of his city. That's one.
He has served the citizens of Vermont in both the House and the Senate for almost 30 years. Had they not felt he was meeting their expectations, they would not have kept voting for him. So his representation of constituents has been successful
So there Queen. You asked for one thing and I have presented you with two.

Your interpretation is established by your own political biases. My statement was based on democracy. The people of Vermont did not vote for him time after time because he was just 'warming a seat'. They voted for him be cause they feel he represents their interests. That is this democracy and if you do not like that just because their interests differ from yours makes you an enemy of the democratic process, because democracy depends upon respect for other citizens and what you have done by dismissing Sanders mayoral and congressional terms it to besmirch the people of Vermont.

I'm sure he will have no problem with illegals squatting there in the off season.

He probably does not even have a gate or locks on the doors, right?

A conservative telling someone how they can spend their money. Don't see that everyday.

I think you are missing the point.

No one is blaming Sanders for wanting to own several big houses. The problem isn't him buying 3 big houses....the problem is him running on a platform of socialism, and THEN buying 3 houses.

The problem is that people are confused about his platform - they think he's a communist, when in reality, he wants to "raise the floor" under the theory that a higher floor will ultimately lead to a higher ceiling. Right or wrong, I don't believe he's ever advocated eliminating wealth acquisition or variance in earnings. If his ideal system came to pass and worked, there would be people with multiple expensive homes, power boats, and even still throwing money completely down the drain on things like Volkswagens and timeshare condos.

For $600,000? That's not criminal, that's just stupid. But, I'm glad all the Bernie fans could contribute to his "home for all". Now, let's see how many of his fans "Mr Spread The Wealth" let's move in and share in his wealth.

Them politicians certainly have a way of becoming millionaires practically overnight merely by getting elected.

For people who make $174,000 a year they certainly have a way of turning that $174,000 a year into millions a lot faster and more frequently than someone working in the private sector making $174,000 a year.

But socialism allows for private property.

ETA: This thread from last year has a great link in the OP about the differences in socialism & communism (HERE). In the link, it says this when describing socialism:

Two kinds of property: Personal property, such as houses, clothing, etc. owned by the individual. Public property includes factories, and means of production owned by the State but with worker control.

Here's the link, in case you don't want to check that epic thread.

I've been saying for years, drop the average pay of all Senators and Congressmen/women to the average US worker wage.

Watch how fast income inequality would disappear then.

~Tenth

Honestly, I think the powerbrokers just wouldn't run for office. They'd probably do what they do with appointed positions and less powerful elected positions: push their lackeys to run for those positions. Or more likely, they'd push prospective lackeys to run for those positions. And if the prospective lackeys can implement enough favorable policies and rulings, they'll gain good jobs or perks or bribes or business "opportunities" once they finish serving their terms.

Well, I mean, no one would want to own your used, state assigned underwear, but if that makes you feel important and valued by the state ... OK, please go ahead and tell how wonderful it is that you have every right to those things the state sees fit to allow you to have.

What the state gives, it also can takes at a moment's notice, and you will thank them for the privilege or risk being jailed.
