How does wanting secure borders make someone a XENOPHOBE!?! I'm confused!

Even "anchor babies" are people!

Never said they weren't people. I only said they shouldn't be America's responsibility or the American tax payers' burden. They are a burden which should be born by those responsible for bringing said life into the world in the first place and that responsibility needs to be exercised in the parents' nation of origin.

But we are a race, all the same, its called humanity.

The only thing borders enable in this day of age is control and the retardation of movement.

God is dead(or never was), long live Humanity, i am you, and you are me, only difference is how we identify with one another.

I agree—I hate the tribalism of the superficial—but humans do not live in harmony with each other. A shared territory, laws and citizenship bind the citizens together.

Stop whining and at least TRY to understand why people might feel this way. Also TRY to understand why I would feel this way. So far you've wasted a ton of energy being "outraged" by the term 'alien', as well as accusing anyone wanting to secure the border and stop illegals from their invasion of the US as racist and xenophobic when this is simply not the case.

I say be empathetic. Don't paint with broad strokes. Illegal immigration is a problem. For the last 20 years I lived in a part of the world that has that problem. I've seen it. I'm also familiar with families who have desperately escaped places to come here-- seeking safety and a normal life. Not every person needs to be deported. Not every person is a violent criminal. A lot of illegals are here working their butts off for minimal dollars just to help their families live.

I'm all for secure borders and legal immigration-- but there has to be room for humanity and heart. And that's what lacks in the Republican Party. And THAT'S why they attract the racists. Because they are so cold on the issue.

Securing the border is simply a fools errand. The amount of resources it would take to secure the border, and it would have to be the entire border because you can go over, under and around a wall, So you would need to secure the coasts the northern border etc. North and South Korea have the most heavily armed border in history and people still manage to cross that sucker.

The answer is to take away the incentives hat brings illegals here, all the jobs. That would be easy by just making the head of whatever company or place that hires them face a mandatory 20 years in jail. That will never happen because Americas dirty little secret is illegals are a vital part of our economy so nobody will ever do anything to really stop it.

Borders, even animals mark and defend their territories.

It's quite the built in behavior.

Must be important in the evolutionary sense. Right?

lol. The blood brain barrier is an example on a micro scale.

xenophobe. Ripley was a true xenophobe.

With the advances of C4ISR, and ground surveillance radar, and drone technology.

It is entirely doable, and would not cost that much.

Schuyler, you would not be labelled a homophobe for misgendering a trans woman. You might, if you made a point of doing it all the time and getting in peoples faces about it, get tagged as a transphobe though.

"C4ISR, and ground surveillance radar"

Got to be something far wrong with any nation that has to employ such measures so as to retard an influx of people.

I mean don't get me wrong i love America i just dont think its synonymous with the freedom and value system set out in your original constitution.

God darn progress for ya i suppose!

I have indeed, how does Guantanamo bay and the like neatly fit in to that illusion of freedom?

A military base on a island with 90 miles of ocean away from the nearest land mass.

That was quite a fail.

It's not that I don't understand or empathize.

I'm from the third world. I know the struggles quite well. Still managed to get here legally and I have all my shots.

Don't know about that, all that goes to show is that the US don't wish to air there dirty laundry in public.

No different from my own nation I suppose, more to all our shame I imagine.

Here's another one that's been bugging me:
So the liberals stance is its all about being humane, right?

It seems a moderate would at least say "no OPEN borders" (I mean there are some obstructions out there).

Then what about all the ones that die in the desert every year??

I'm seeing about 400 per year:
en.wikipedia.org...
How about the ones that barely make it? That has to be a huge number, the rest surely suffer.

And I gather there's all sort of cruel stuff coyotes do.

I'd wager most of them aren't of the criminal variety tasked to smuggle in a score.

So what is the solution? OPEN borders, just open the floodgates at the border crossing, or go and start picking them up give them a ride the ones that take the harsh trek?

Seems it'd be more humane make it freaking TOUGH to cross the actual border (so less get trapped dead out in the middle of the desert), there's already HOW MANY millions already here? Enhance economic stability might mean better economic base here to buy Mexican imports, while the ones already here many of them send most every extra penny they have back home. In the long term I see it making for better for them on the other side, or at least something about neutral to where it is, while reducing the drug trade (all the instability it causes). Get things stabilized, be able to actually count the numbers and then figure out the best ideal rate to open the inflow back up again, while they pick themselves back up over there.

I just see no compromise coming from liberals on this issue, yet people dying in the desert and the 7000 per year murder rate as Burdman underscored earlier. The is a cause to minimize MURDER, right er correct?

Its not being xenophobic its about being aware that your taxes can only support certain numbers of people and there are some out there coming agendas for medical care they have need paid for etc etc and that costs way more than they ever bring with them in work input or knowledge.

When people arrive they think themselves entitled to free housing, education, health care, a car, money to live off and of course if can't afford all these things from a job they want benefit to top it all up for them to a higher standard than perhaps they had at home.

There are also now a lot of people with very different political views trying to gatecrash the west and change Western ideals which is not on and these people need to be stopped arriving and those who are a danger to us deported back to whence they came because there extra security that we have to pay for far outweighs much of the so-called benefits these people bring or can create here. Many are making a living through living off the efforts of newcomers such as rogue landlords etc and can buy properties without paying any interest. This is not acceptable to people who work hard, save to buy their homes etc.
