I never saw so much Christian bashing in all
my life till I got on this forum. Nothing like talking about bigotry on one side of your mouth then angrily bash Christians out of the other.

In English the word "bigot" refers to a person whose habitual state of mind includes an obstinate, irrational, or unfair intolerance of ideas, opinions, ethnicities, or beliefs that differ from their own, and intolerance of the people who hold them.[1][2]
en.m.wikipedia.org...
Just in case you didn't know the difference, anyone who immigrates to the US and applies for citizenship has to take an oath that they are not or have not been in a communist organization for the preceding five years. So think on that one for a bit...it's immigration law.

Was someone talking about Communism?

I can't believe this has gone 30 pages and some folks still think this rancid excuse for a man was right.

I've been guilty in the past of bashing Christians for stuff, but I'd never imagine one leaving a person in need like that.

If the shoe fits.........
There's no doubt that this piece of of slime of man is claiming his Christianity gives him the right to be a bigot, and "the lord" told him to leave a disable young woman stranded on the side of the road.

What difference? Do you think that all Canadians are communists too?

Educate yourself out of ignorance! There's difference between "socialism" and "communism". Besides, early Christians in Acts practiced socialism. Jesus was an advocate of socialism.

Speaking of communism....isn't Trump an YUGE admirer of Putin?

I agree there should be. But the SCOTUS had ruled that cops aren't even required to aid a person in need.

Maybe you should start a thread on that.

Its not what this thread is about.

You stated that there should be a law against what the tow truck driver did.

I said that not even cops are legally bound to aid people.

And I'm off topic again?

What is your problem with me Annee?

Maybe YOU Should Start a thread ON THAT?

if a cop was sent on a call about a crime and saw evidence that the victim of that crime supported something he stood against and just told the victim, sorry, just can't help ya, you support xxx, and walk away..
well, I don't know if it would be against the law, might be, but I doubt if he would have his job that long.

Tow truck driver was obviously moronic in his assessment of the situation. So does he now always ask people their political slant before he agrees to tow them? Of course not. And it wouldn't be a great model for a customer service oriented business. So just ridiculously stupid, his emotions getting better of him.

While I'm sure she could simply have called another tow truck company, leaving a lone woman in a broken down vehicle by the side of the road is most certainly NOT the right thing to do, not when you are there, and you can help her. Regardless of her beliefs vs. your own. How anyone could defend this buffoon or his laughable reasoning boggles the mind.

Correct! And you know what else? Most 'country boys' (what some townies call "rednecks" and don't really know that it means chivalrous, polite, hardworking, and honest) would be appalled at this asshat's behavior toward a female. My husband would have drop-kicked his narrow ass across that state line himself if they were all still in high school.

(Talk about your 'good-guy' who can out-bully the bullies!)

Disgraceful.
I feel bad for the smart and sophisticated residents of the South, that these examples keep coming to light.
Like my stupid state - I live in Kansas, and the Governor and Legislature here are constantly in the news for their retarded and totally counter-productive "governing". I know how it feels to be associated by simple geography with such eggheads.

Never forget, South Carolina produced Stephen Colbert, too!

That's different. Officers are not required by law to give medical care (They don't even have to give CPR or anything). They can and often do wait for EMT's to arrive. It went through the Supreme Court to protect officers from lawsuits.

Correct. Not all conservatives are like this guy. Nor are all liberals alike. So why are you trying to make it seem that way???

Why not just agree that what the trucker did was wrong and leave it at that???

Because the thread is trying to convey that "religious people and conservatives in general are like that", and you also see people responding making the same false assumption...

Again, here is part of what the op wrote in the starting post/thread...

Right wing politics and religion have blurred into one big bigoted mess of fear and loathing! I have a feeling that this kind of stunt is only the "tip of the ice berg" of what the religious right is capable of, when it comes to their thinking that doing their job, and/or civic duty, violates their closely held "religious beliefs" if it means they have to assist people with different political views.

Shaking my head and wondering what's going to happen when Hillary wins the presidency!!!!

I stand by my observation. Conservative right wing politics have blurred politics and religion, giving us ridiculous bathroom laws and the religious right carte blanche to discriminate against those they disagree with.

It's embarrassing, and it should embarrass all Christians.

officers by law, aren't required to give medical care because they aren't really qualified to do much more than basic first aid. the truck driver wasn't required to give anyone medical care either by his job is to tow wrecked cars, just like the cop would probably be required to call the tow truck driver if at the scene of an accident and the driver had no other way to arrange a tow themselves. and one could say that he accepted the job when he drove to the accident scene to do the job. if not, then he did when he proceeded to hook the car up to the truck. which he was doing until he saw the bernie signs and stuff.

wonder if the cop stayed there till the truck driver got there, I know in virginia they would hang around till at least their was a tow truck there to make sure the vehicle was moved and not a hazard. wonder if he didn't leave till the truck driver came and he knew that the car and lady would be taken care of, which we now know didn't happen.

this idea that the owner of a business should be able to run his business anyway he wants, is really not true. there a ton of regulations all businesses have to operate under, and then there are more for those who chose to own towing services. maybe what he did was legal, maybe it wasn't. I can say that I think that it should be illegal! And, that I want to see notices at the front doors of businesses detailing just who they wish to refuse services and in their advertising. that would be fair, but then this was a spur of a moment thing with the guy so he proably wouldn't have had the required sign anyways. God spoke and he listened!! although if even half of what I've read on this story is true, then I have to to say, I think he's an unbeliever using God as an excuse.

not sure how it's not incorrect. Are all christians like this no, believe it or not, there are many who believe it's a big mistake to get overly cozy with the gov't and are doing their jobs whatever they may be without any incident.
to be honest, I really believe this big bigoted mess of fear and loathing is more of a danger to the christians than to anyone else. it's like you are trying to push the gates wide open so the gov't can come in and tell you what you should be believing and what you shouldn't!! all the studying of revelations, all the preaching about the coming antichrist and yous just can seem to see just how much you are building his framework!
