I haven't posted on ATS for quite some time, but when I visited I always enjoyed your posts.

I'm sorry to hear this news.

One of the thoughts I've had over the years on ATS was how cool would it be if Brit ATS members got together for a laugh, a drink and a good natter on whatever topics arose.

You are amongst those members I thought of when it first came to mind.

If it were to ever happen, I would make sure glasses were raised in your honour.

As they say in life, never enough time.

I hope things get better, but when the day comes, your posts/insights/thoughts will be sorely missed.

Thanks for the privilege of knowing you, even if just in words on an internet forum.

It's funny I remember when I first joined up, people were talking about about auk member meet up. It would of been fun, but it seems us uk members couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. 😏

a reply to: Springer thanks springer, I've really enjoyed my time on ats I was thinking why I liked it here and I think it's because it so welcoming, and the terms and conditions keep things civil and peaceful. A genuinely nice place to spend ones time online. Congratulations on your creation here. Long may it continue its a great oasis on the Internet.ive learnt a lot here and met some people I now consider friends. Never expected that when I signed up. It's provided a great distraction too, getting into debates here really takes your mind off other things in a way no other entertainment can

Hmmm, that could go one of two ways really.

How's things with you today, woodwardjnr? Hope you're getting some of that elusive sunshine I keep hearing the weatherman bang on about.

I lurk from afar and I am deeply moved by your story, woodwardjnr. Thank you for being you. I am also very humbled by how many people have offered you support and suggestions in hope. Whatever you choose, and do, I wish for you lots more good surprises and many reasons to keep on smiling. Thinking of you and your family and praying for a miracle.

Farewell. You are a hero and have fought well. The last battle lies ahead of us all. Wish me strength when my turn comes, as I wish you strength, courage and comfort now.

I've spent the day saying my farewells to long time friends today. No one knows what to say, so I've just been as brutally honest as I can, be. There's no point in tip toeing around the difficult issues. Yes I'm going to be dead soon, it's probably going to be a pretty grim death, so let's say our goodbyes. Then they all seem to inform me they will be back again next weekend, when we can go through the experience again. It's the hardest thing I've had to do after living with this for 16 years. It was always going to end. I just think people are struggling to come to terms with it and don't know what to say. I think my family in friends are all still a bit in shock, despite having been through this situation on numerous occasions. I guess it's nice to have the chance to say goodbye, but it's bloody hard work.

That's good friends for you!! The bastards!

They never take a hint, do they?

It'd be worse if they'd took back their CDs and their books and that tenner you owe them from ages ago.

I don't think people are ever truly prepared to lose a loved one. My Mother passed away at the age of 92, we all knew her day was coming, but even when that day came it was shocking and didn't seem real.

We will all have our day to start a new journey, a new beginning or adventure when our time here ends.

I hope you realize just how many lives you have touched, how many you have inspired with your courage and strength through the years. You will live on in our hearts and memories. Any one of us here, at any time could be joining you. Some sooner rather than later. Know that you are loved and appreciated.

And if a time comes when you need someone to talk to or be there for you, my message box is always there. Hugs!

I'm so sorry. I have no wise words, actually I can't find any words.
I am holding you in my heart, thoughts, & prayers.
God speed.
May all those you love and who love you on the other side, be right there as you make this transition.
You are an eternal being, a soul.
Sadly these bodies we occupy are not.
Remember energy doesn't die.
I pray you're as pain free as possible and the transition is easy and painless.

You truly are very courageous and courteous. Not many people would be brave enough to farewell their long time friends in the manner you have decided. While the vast majority of us cannot even imagine what you are currently going through, that you are being so rational and realistic about your circumstances is very admirable.

You mentioned in an earlier post that you wish to retain your mental functioning as best you can when you do pass, and judging by your recent posts, I would say you are well on track.

Farewell, friend.
