Why is it so important that the Bible be true?

What if the Bible is true, and you're the one wanting it to be false? Why do you want it to be false?

Do you see the bias in your own statements now? Your inquiry is subjected to your preconceived notion that there is no possibility that the Bible is true.

I say its true because its true, not because I want it to be.

You say its false because its false, not because you want it to be.

So why not just end the conversation there and find something more edifying to talk about?

No you say it's true because you want it to be true. If you looked at the bible with a rational mind you could see it for what it is. A collection of stories based on peoples knowledge at the time it was written.

Well if truth can only be defined as things we can verify in some scientific manner, we just as well throw away all scripts, books, etc. No mathematical equation can prove that the war of 1812 happened. No experiment can prove that the Holy crusades were a real happening. No mixing of chemicals can prove the Holocaust.

To deny or assume the validity of something based on subjective evidence is a mess in any case - there may be pieces of the Bible that can be proven false if in relation to geography, for instance, but the rest... More just based on each person's thoughts.

Why do you get so defensive that someone questions the Bible???

Personally I think it's false because it's a horrible book with awful lessons mixed in with good ones. I don't believe it's accurate or very helpful now other than perhaps some parts of the new test. It's also a horrible way to view our lives and/or afterlife as well. With unfair judgements and bias. That's just a few reasons right there.

The difference between the crusades or the war of 1812 and the bible is that one contains bold claims of miracles and the other stories don't. The bible claims that people walked on water! We know that is not possible. The bible claims that those who believe and follow Jesus can drink poison and handle venemous snakes without harm. It claims that if you follow God and ask for anything in his name it will be done. Yet children still suffer from starvation even though I know people ask for that to stop happening in God's name.

I have done research. That's how I've come to that opinion. Had I not looked into it I wouldn't have an opinion either way and probably wouldn't care. After reading the bible and thinking about what I've read and reading other opinions about it and discussing it a lot, that is my conclusion.

Is there something specific you're thinking of that I should look into??? Because there are a couple core ideas within the Bible that I simply cannot justify. Now, that also depends on what interpretation we're talking about and what parts are cherry picked. You slice it up differently and put some spin on it and I might agree it's a cool book. But as it is, it just isn't.

Dude, do you think I haven't tried that already?? I spent years talking to God, never once getting a reply. That is obviously one of the first things I tried.

How have I been arrogant also??? I'm just answering the questions like anyone else. I find it more arrogant to insist upon an invisible creator God of the Universe with no objective evidence to support it.

It would be arrogant also for me to insist any position other than what I have which is that I believe the Bible to be false along with my reasons why. I'm not saying I know absolutely anything. All I'm saying is this is my position and why it is.
