And of course I could be wrong as well. Most of you are right, I don't know the area (obviously), and maybe their have been hate crimes of similar severity in the area (though from a couple minutes of searching, I haven't seen much, mostly people in Scotland, not even Glasgow specifically, verbally abusing local Muslims by calling them terrorists), but nothing I saw had Muslims being murdered in this fashion, hell, googling "Muslim murdered in Scotland" the only thing that pops up is the Kriss Donald case in which a Scottish Boy was murdered by Muslims.

We will see. There is not much to go on, and not a whole lot to discuss. Lets just hope whatever the case is, it doesn't get swept under the rug.

But knowing Glasgow as I do and the nature of the killing I'd put a damn sight more than a ton on it being some White scumbags.

Oh, and I'm a betting man and like to weigh the odds up before placing any bet....but that's a no brainer when it comes to a gamble.

I have been to Glasgow several times and always have my wits about me.

The one thing I have never been scared of there though is radicalised Muslim immigrants.

Here, here people with true mental health problems are more likely to harm themselves rather than someone else. People with mental health problems arent evil and without feelings that is a psychopath.

My child's dad has paranoid schizophrenia wghich he has had for 30 years. He has attempted suicide but NEVER hurt anyone. He is one of the kindest and gentlest men I have known.

I have been in relationships in my younger days where I gave been battered black and blue and gad my head stomped on and there were no mental health issues, on the outside they were both professional and successful men. I also have worked in a womens refuge for 10 years and I would say 98% have no mental health issues.

The media have a part to play headlines 'crazed paranoid schuzophrenic murders partner'. Could it just not be that they r evil bastards? Until people understand mental health problems they will always be stigmatised. There are plenty of evil people in every walk of life taking babies home from hospital today and yet my child's father has never even smacked our child in 9 years. a reply to: grainofsand

I dontbelieve it is anything to with muslims! It is either a hate crime because of a backlash but knowing Glasgow and social problems I would be more inclined to think is teenage scum either trying to thieve or in revenge for the yoyng girl murdered in Scotland and they are taking it out on an innocent man just because the murderer they have caught had a deli shop.

I have many friends in Glasgow and have been there lots of times.

Sure, it has a bit of an edge at times, but where hasn't?
You've got to have your wits about you in most towns and cities in the UK.

I don't think many people outside of the UK realise just how much of a physically violent place the UK can be.

As has been said, the vast majority of this thread so far been conjecture and speculation.

Shawlands is a decent place but as such it attracts a lot of flotsam from surrounding less affluent areas, like Govanhill etc.
It can be like the city centre at night with pubs and restaurants. It has a high Muslim demographic and they too have their share of unsavoury types. Crime is in general pretty much a petty affair but there is always the potential for violence.
Kriss Donald was abducted from an adjoining area called Pollokshields and although the perpetrators were Muslim they pretty much terrorised their own community. Pollokshields, incidentally, is one of the most affluent areas in Glasgow, Kriss Donald lived in one of the poorer parts.

Agreed, not picking on Glasgow all major cities are pretty nasty these days.

I got head stomped in Nottingham a few years ago and spent a long time in hospital, lost my job and had to sell my house all because a bunch of knuckle draggers failed to pull and decided to kick off instead.

Here is someone else who has been stabbed this week this time in England why because her baby was asleep and she asked gang of youths to keep the noise down. It warranted her being stabbed on the doorstep. Senseless, evil murder with no motive just wrong place, wrong time. Could be as simple as this doesnt have to be a reason no more. Our Country need to deal with this gang culture I think National Service should be bought back for scum like these.

Anger, Rage, Hate and Racism are blind, I myself dislike Islam and am angry over the influx of so many (the fault is my governments though and they are HUMAN BEING's mostly) but this is an example of a probably very decent hard working and respectible man whom was most likely murdered by angry people whom have a bad streak in themselves and just wanted to hurt some one, an innocent VICTIM and that is the tragedy of it.
