Thank you.

Some features of ATS will be disabled while you continue to use an ad-blocker.

What would you pay per-month for an Ad-Free ATS?

Mmnn, consider an additional tangible incentive other than ad-free. 5 bucks, 10 bucks, just for ad-free alone isn't going to be a big selling point for many. A functional ignore button would do the trick. In a New York minute.

I'd consider paying a reasonably priced monthly or annual for ad-free, if it included that function.

I feel like I'm being manipulated. And I don't like being manipulated.

I didn't read all of the comments thus far, so maybe someone else has touched on this. We're told that ad-blocking members will experience a dysfunctional website until they change their ways, then we're hit with this "possible solution" to address members' concerns.

Actually, it sounds like the marketing version of Problem-Reaction-Solution. And it feels like we're being manipulated.

So no money. Not that I would pay for anything on the internet to begin with, but doubly-so especially when I feel like the membership is being jobbed.

You mean we get to pay you to re-post our material on another website with buried accreditation?

Why don't you just ask us to bend over, grab our ankles and enjoy it?

For the no ads service 12$/Year. I can raise to 20$/Years if the good poster keep a little advantage from their contribution.

Why don't you tell all members exactly how much $$$ the site is making and how much is spent on servers and other things ? That way members can make an informed decision. Many sites have a gauge that shows how much more is needed to pay for hosting and other things. Transparency would be much better than trying to provoke a blind emotional response.

This is a great point. Anyone play Myst Online? Familiar with how they keep that server up & running? Player donations. I know it's a small player base, but Cyan has been pretty consistent & transparent over the years with how much the annual upkeep is, and therefore how much is needed to keep it going.

Totally free MMO from a small company. A totally free MMO that is completely supported through the players' donations. I doubt MOULA would have been online as long as it has been if they weren't so transparent with the players. They are, after all, the literal financial lifeblood for it.

Advertisements on any site have never bothered me.

I've been with a computer in my life since the early 1990's and I've learned to completely ignore them. So, my vote is actually more for just supporting the website itself rather than for any benefits. If $5 is the minimum needed to make it viable, than I don't see why anything more or less is necessary.

There is a donations thing at the top of the page, after all.

Damn i feel bad. I have blocked PP too, it is now visible. Thanks for the info. *red face*

But still, initiating this new policy in a ELECTION year... you gotta ask questions!

I'm on board with the members supporting the site they get something out of. It's obvious that we all do, some more than others. Perhaps we should start reclaiming our sand box, it will only take a few bucks a year.

THIS...

...is the kind of ad that really pi$$es me off. I'm all for ATS making ends meet, but this is the kind of crap that gets through occasionally, and if clicked on, goes straight to a scammers website. "driverupdate.net" are liars. They claim to be a Microsoft partner, and are no such thing. Obviously, ATS can't catch them all, but this is why I think the option of a subscription isn't a bad idea for those who want it. For those who don't, or can't, the ad-based site would still be here.

Star for that one! Nailed it!

And lets not forget that many ads are clickbaite, and some will install malware on your comp. The above ad is a classic example!
Why use the bandwith and time on ads?
Sorry to say that, but its the wrong path imho.

Yeah, the idea is: "The ads doesn't bother you? Great, just keep them, website is free as it alway's been. The ads bother you, just give what they would have gave for a year."

12$/Years. The only feature: no ads. No premium chat or forum. That wouldn't fit the current model.

EDIT: Note, with no ads API the website will go alot quicker, but this is just a side effect of not loading ads.

I'll respectfully keep this short.

Some of us have come from "sub" model alt forums... it didn't end well for many of us.

So that's a "i'd just not come back here either" from me..

that's not a slight.. or a dig.. it's just the awful truth of the journey.. and i dare say i'm not alone.

I would, if it could include or offer an app for tablets/smartphones with some cool customizable interactive features.

I'm not against a subscription mode for ATSl - $5-$10 a month seems reasonable.

How about we make an official Thread of the Month competition where the author of the winning thread is gifted one-month free subscription? You could have a stipulation that no member can win it two months in a row. Maybe the mods can nominate a list of 10 threads and then members get to vote on the winning thread.

Just an idea I thought of before.

I suspect many of the seasoned member will not pay either......

Not to mention how often is a site written off because it charges for content ?...the usual suspects come in with the old..."If the information is not free it must be a scam".....

i wouldn't pay anything for this tbh. i mean really its just a blog site with a lot of traffic. BTW your silly messages about using adblocks are easily blocked with adblock lol.... just right click that hideous thing at the top and click block.

you know there is a easy way to fix that right? tying the ads displaying with th e site/page code to block th e entire page from view IF you try to do that. Thanks for pointing out that little flaw. SO you go tthat so you can fix that little hole for ads being blocked?

$1 and $2 are too low. $5 is approaching the price of Netflix. Not sure what I'd price it at, but I'm really glad to see this discussion happening.

A better question would be:

If you had a normal salary, if you had not just had to start a new business and were riding the raggedy edge between sanity and insanity, if you were not choosing between a driving lesson and lunch today, what would you pay for an Ad free ATS?

My answer would be, I have no idea, because I lack the necessary frame of reference in order to make a value judgement about what an Ad free ATS is worth. Perhaps when I am used to having money around, and spending it on things I like, rather than things I need, when my situation normalises and I start being able to think about moving out to a place of my own, living my life like I should have been able to at least a decade ago, rather than being stuck in a damned time capsule of an existence, I will come up with a better answer!
