My candidate was Rand Paul. He was a close as you get today.

However, I am not looking myself into believing choosing an oligarchy over a guy who will not be able to pass his bills is a better choice.

I don't think socialism is great. Some things need to be socialized to a point but to me an ineffective president in power right now is the best thing we can hope for IMO. God forbid one of these so called conservatives get into power with a Republican Congress.

I just think Been may be able to bring attention to the fact that nothing will change if there is the money lobey structure there is now. That includes unions.

The major point that is generally overlooked in all of these discussions is that while we must have a clearly defined and minimal federal government, the states, counties and municipalities can experiment with a variety of interventionist policies as long as they do not violate the constitution.

That way, people can migrate around the country settling where they find local ordinances to be most in keeping with their values. That is what is meant by 'voting with your feet' and it is impossible when national policies are in place.

I don't like union or corporate lobbyists either but, if the federal government is prevented from enacting interventionist policies, they would be forced to look to the state legislatures for sympathetic protectionist policies and the local electorate always has the option of abandoning that region. Because interstate taxation is forbidden, that allows an even playing field.

Well then its inevitable then isn't it?

This is the first guy in a long time who isn't paid for by an oligarch who keeps it all for himself.

This is the inherent flaw in capitalism.

It consolidates wealth creating an oligarchy and maximizes efficiency which destroys jobs.

...and what do they do with that wealth? Build a money vault and swim in gold coins?

Scrooge Mcduck style. I might at least have some respect for that just because of how epic it would be.

As it stands, all the money is nothing but numbers on a computer screen. One EMP attack & all those numbers are gone, potentially forever, yet we refuse to enforce or even redesign our grid in any way while spending trillions overseas.

I pray something like that happens sooner than later, or we take those numbers & put them on other people's computers, maybe the world would be a little bit better place. It would definitely stimulate the economy at least as people start spending those numbers.

So that's a non-answer.

You really don't hope the EMP happens. You do seem to support massive redistribution, so I guess you support Sanders.

Do you think the wealthy don't spend those 'numbers'? How do you think they got those numbers in the first place?

Because voting for Democrats has really helped the minorities and inner cities, eh?

I don't know. I'm saying he's a super hero or a magician but if he can take down any of it that would still help. I'm not counting on a miracle or anything but he's the only one who will do something or at least try so what other choice is there??

I have an easier time believing that Marvel Comic Movies are real than believing politicians will do anything to REDUCE GOVERNMENT.

I don't care about Reducing Government. I only care about Reducing the Corruption in Government. If it worked correctly I don't care how big or small it is.

There is no rule that says shrinking it is going to do anything about the corruption in it either. For all we know they'll just reduce it by taking out all the parts that are actually working and just keep the most corrupt parts of it.

1)Most of the so-called "Socialists" I've seen jump up and down for Bernie Sanders on ATS have no earthly CLUE what Socialism is or how it's most basic principles operate.

2) The same members (and many of the useful dupes around America...mostly college aged under-developed-brained trigger- safe space- nobs) don't even know about Bernie's platform themselves

3) Most don't even know that Bernie is actually a Socialist.

4) Most don't even know that "Social Democracy" is derived from Marxism directly and is a spin-off with mostly play on words

I literally smile and borderline laugh at threads here touting Bernie. It's all Rainbows and Unicorns...and magical thinking.
I'm actually smiling right now thinking of the hilarious child-like innocence/ignorance some display.

It's like watching kids in awe at Dinosaurs when you take them to the museum.

So by your logic, 90% of the work force could be "Government"...90% of the ownership...90% OF THE MEDIA...etc.etc.etc

How does one sustain that?

I am not saying that either, but the "redneck" support of the rupublicans truly bows my mind.

If "rednecks' support Republicans...couldn't it be logical that people EQUALLY as uninformed are on the LEFT?

I.E. "Bern" Victims?

Um yeah. He calls himself a socialist.

You seem to equate being a socialist as something akin to a vampire or the walking undead.

So how can you reduce corruption in government by making it bigger and giving it more tax money?

Do you cure a heroin addict by giving him even more heroin?

If you reduce government authority, you reduce the influence it has over us.

Vampire is a pretty good analogy, yes. Living off of a host that either dies or becomes an undead servant.

Possibly an incurable degenerative disease is more apt.

If it all worked correctly and without corruption YES I'd be totally fine with it. I'm not foolish enough to believe that it could ever be corruption free but if it was possible and would work like it was supposed to in theory then I'd be fine with it.

An ideal example of a truly operational and efficient Democratic Socialism style of society would be like Star Trek. I can think of a lot worse.
