I am in utter disbelief that this 'Flat-Earth' nonsense has gained some attention

The southern hemisphere is larger than the northern. Even one of the leading misinformation agents Neil Degrasse Tyson acknowledged this in his comments on how the earth is larger at the equator and is pear shaped. I'm still waiting on that NASA picture.

exactly WHICH " nasa picture ` are you ` waiting for ` ????

the difference between the equitorial and polar diameters of the earth is < 50km

at the scalle of a photo on a computer screen - do you think you can spot the difference

hint - get a friend to draw 2 lines on a wall using chalk - the first :

1275mm long , the second 1271mm - and see if you can tel which is the longer line

that is the absurdity of your position

Come on, a couple of hobby-debunkers on YouTube laying waste to hard, scientific, peer reviewed data? As was mentioned above, the sun, moon and other planets are round but the earth is not? I don't see the logic here.

I guess there's little reason to debate this with you since you're already convinced by such "overwhelming evidence". It just frightens me that this is so hotly discussed in the year 2016.

Round or disk shaped? Because the earth is disk shaped in flat model I have been looking at. The Sun and Moon and Stars look disk shaped to me too.

Go take a look at the "Lunar Wave" pretty cool stuff, looks like a hologram resolution reset.

You are on to something though... what if WE are the center of a universe or realm built by a creator. The only reason for the big bang and infinite space is to make us feel insignificant. What if you/we are the most significant? What if evolution and the big bang are just a sly plot to down play humanity and devalue human life?

The observations I can make do not prove a round earth spinning at 1000 miles an hour. The only evidence of it comes from proven disinformation agencies who cannot be trusted. I know most people will discount the information I offered but if you really look at it, something isn't right about the narrative we are being given.

I guess we can agree to disagree on the fake reality we are told to believe.

How would you know?

It also looks like air turbulence. The sort that limits really good seeing in Florida. The reason they put earth bound telescopes on mountains.

That's a lot more likely than some alien power discovering how to do free-air holography (can't do it, sad to say) and fooling people on the ground. For some reason.

I see. So the Ancient Greeks knew that the Earth is a sphere, but you don't. Guess who I'm going to believe?

Could someone charter a plane to leave from point A, then fly around the planet to return to point A, thereby seeing for themselves there was no edge? My question might be unclear, but could someone do something like that and maybe see for themselves, since photos, science, and sanity from others is unacceptable to them?

Not that I care, the whole notion is so idiotic it's barely worth discussion, but I was just wondering.

It's all a side-effect of the "conspiracy theory" outlook.

I reckon its the Mandela effect

i can tell you the " answer " to that before any such flight ever takes off :

the flat earthers will claim that the pilot was a " global model disinfo agent " , the nabigation system was ` hacked ` - "they got lost " , " the TPTB used the ` hologram projector ` to fool them " etc etc etc

any " explaination other than " we was wrong "

this conclusion is based on the previous run-ins i have had with such people

It's been done. People have sailed around the world as well. No edge. What happens to the water, btw?

But if you watch the sun go down and the star constellations rotate around the pole, it's pretty obvious. Not to mention you can do easy things like look on webcams and see the Sun is up elsewhere.

I'm confused why this thread is on page 23?? The Earth isn't flat, lol... People who believe its flat are just stubborn and ignorant... As someone who works in the aerospace industry, never mind, I don't need to even finish... Anyone with a brain.. brain cell that is, knows flat earth theory is beyond stupid..

Paradoxically,

I have an actually very very smart ENGINEER friend from a high quality UNIV . . . who has started believing in the flat earth junk.

I think it is part of his chronic polarity response but that's another story.

He mentions something about a rocket that was purportedly fired and went up and hit the "dome" with a thunk??? Sound flaky to me but what's the best retort?

Are there 3-5 fool proof points that one can share with such a bloke?

I checked into the nonsense a bit months ago and found it extremely wanting. I'm willing to give most anything the benefit of the doubt but that just didn't seem to even get in the starting blocks of being remotely reasonable.

I see, but I was wondering if perhaps they were able to charter a plane, and see first hand. Wouldn't they expect to see the underside, then, which would be heaven's knows what. Tree roots! lol! But they could see it's just the normal appearance of the planet.
But you're right. People believe what they want to believe in life, and I learned this the hard way, so I guess it's pointless.

... "They" load up airplanes to spray chemicals on us that will kill us (They don't work then, huh?)
...Hillary and Bill Clinton are serial killers.

Oh well. I used to feel sorry for these folks but now they just annoy me. Let me leave it alone, then. Thanks for your response though.

Thank you. Preaching to the choir, though. I just realized they must also believe the sun revolves the Earth.
I don't believe they really believe all that garbage. I think they are being intentionally annoying.
How could anyone possibly? Oh well.

According to the curvature of the earth model of modern science nothing should be visible because at that distance you talking about supposed curvature that surpasses the height of the tallest building in Chicago and you can see the whole skyline not just the Willis tower.

This is a reoccurring theme on this subject, uninformed guesses of people who haven't even taken an earnest look at the facts of it and whole hearten belief in government agency junk science. I mean most of the objection is based on false assumptions like "we can see ships go over the curve". The human eye does not have infinite ability. Why no answer on why the light of the moon has cooling properties?

Well why not come across and debunk the guys on Metabunk. What have you got to lose? In regards to curvature of the earth and Chicago have you analysed it in depth or are you just taking the claims on YT as fact? Here is your chance to post images and data. Feel free to jump in to any thread on the subject. For example what do you think the guy in the following thread will find once he gets his camera and accurately images from the shoreline?
