And, as conspiracy theorists, I think we need to ask ourselves why is there such orchestrated, societal push-back against something so natural and beneficial to both the Mom and the baby? Who benefits from that? WHY are we even discussing this?

I guess my point is do people feel this was a setup to get a reacting for that big Facebook posting? The way she did it, and was aggressive for any one to look her way to finally say some old woman looked at her and shook her head to have a friend record it all seems fishy to me than just a mother trying to feed her baby.

Thats the point I was trying to make. Feeding a child is one thing, but to deliberately thrust it into peoples faces is another and then scowl at them?!

As I've said several times in this thread, I would not have a problem with a mother feeding her child, but that woman is trying to be offensive. I'm a grandparent now, both my wife(x) and my grown up children fed their children while they were out in public, and they always took a little care to not offend those who might not like it.
Is it really so hard for that woman to be a little discreet?

Yeah... some mothers are going activist, even in China.

edition.cnn.com...

Maybe they're trying to change the world back to normal.

You know, for an open minded, dare I say it, liberal individual, you're quite prudish about some issues, my friend. I also have two kids and while I certainly never broke bread at table with them, I often snacked on the leftovers after they'd retired for the evening.

I love that this thread has devolved into a 'which dad drank the most breast milk' contest.

I been to Africa many time, seen a lot of hanging breasts, and can't say that is something I'm looking for in "back to normal". Guys in Africa let their junk air out too, I guess that is "back to normal" too. hehe

Maybe, just maybe, I grew up in a society where breastfeeding was normal and I never had any desire to try mother's milk as a snack, though I'm quite sure I got loads of it when I was a baby back in 1946.

I think you have that backwards... mothers are being victimized for feeding their babies.

No, I don't think she is. She is making herself the victim by showing as much of the process as possible and then getting upset when others give her nasty looks. Did anyone actually say anything to her or did they just give her disapproving looks?

Have you ever fed a kid? You don't need to make it into a topless peepshow in order to prove some point in order to feed the kid. Your kid doesn't need the entire upper half of your chest bared in order to grab your nipple and latch on.

Not even if your kid needs to be uncovered in order to feed.

Really?? So my husband is the odd man out? He refused to see my breasts as anything but baby feeders.....his term. I tried to flash him when our oldest was about 6 months old. He covered his eyes and turned his head while telling me they were for the baby. Since I never used a pump, the only way for him to taste it was from the "tap". He would have sooner removed his own toenails.

No... can't say that I have, since I'm a male.

As I said I'm not the smartest guy around, but I learn quick...

And your going to sit here and suggest that as your hubby was so freaked out by it that you never did a cross the bow shot for fun?

i agree.

i breast feed in public and never got a nasty look. i don't remember any of my friends or siblings who breast feed in public ever complaining about getting nasty looks. she's seems like she is being a bit antagonistic to make a point and i don't think that's necessary. i could be wrong...

You're making a whole lot of assumptions and perhaps even judgements here.

Peepshow?

Prove a point?

That and, again, if she's comfortable showing her breast, what's that damage?

Please don't bring the Russians into this thread too.

Does it even need to be said that the milk wasn't exactly the focal point? Remember back in the 80s when Topps baseball cards were sold in the little wax packs? Those packs each contained a mummified stick of bubble gum covered in, I guess, corn starch. None of us bought the damn things for the gum, we bought them for the cards... but that didn't mean we didn't gleefully open the glorious package and pop that little stick of gum straight into the mouth, enjoying the gum until we'd thoroughly examined and manhandled all of the baseball cards that provided that gum. Once all the cards had been explored and we'd memorized the way they looked and felt, the gum lost its flavor and was spit out. On lucky days when you had enough money saved up, you'd have a second package of them to open up and repeat the process with, complete with the same excitement and wonder as you'd experienced with the first pack. It's like that... and yeah, yeah, I know I'm an immature jackass, deal with it!

She is also turned towards the room to make sure even those behind her get a chance too to maybe give her a look of displeasure...lol

But clearly, she isn't comfortable showing her breast. If she was, then she would know she was going to get a few looks from people who aren't exactly approving and roll with it.

That she chose to make it an issue in such a way as to make herself look like victim of something when nothing actually happened to her beyond receiving those looks tells me she isn'tcomfortable with it -or- she is looking to make an issue out of it.

I lost the connection between baseball cards and boobs, or was it gum and boobs, or just cards and gum, ok now I'm really confused...

The cards are the boobs. The gum is the milk.

The cards are fun to play with, the gum tastes disgusting.
