Firstly. China has not invaded any country for any war. Moreover, don't count on them leading any kind invasion over the Pacific. If there is going to be a war with China, believe it will be American boots on Chinese soil, which is highly unlikely as well.

Seagull, I don't know about the rest but he does have a point. Mobilization for war time i a strange thing and i'd have to say that China has a way better ability to control and mobilize their people than the USA does at this point, Americans of today don't do as the govt requests readily a "war effort" via civilians would be hard to come by it's not 1939

Meanwhile, the Chinese have a manufacturing base putting out 14 Million cars a year, it is not unthinkable that prior to going to war the Chinese could put out, not 500,000 but 5 Million cheap knock out drones, a powerful manufacturing base and mobilization is what won us WW2 in the end.

Talking about dropping the smack down suddenly tomorrow is one thing, but pissing them off and letting them choose the go date in Two years could be deadly for the USA, one must truly ask themselves just how much China could build how many men it could raise and how fast it could do it.

If I was going to go against the USA in local waters at some point and I was China i'd be thinking about tactics like 250,000 speed boats and 500,000 unmanned drones too and yeah they could pull that off very, very quickly there is no lack of cannon fodder the ability to build low grade explosives and drones and vehicles either these are the guys putting up sky scrappers in weeks not us these days.

It looks like china is NOW WILLING to START A WAR
with the USA because the high-level leadership
now thinks the USA has become WEAK militarily
and politically on the world stage!

There will be DIRE CONSEQUENCIES if the
USA does not fix it's current educational,
economic and military standards with

What most people DO NOT take
into account is the question of:

"Research and Development Dollars,
Operating Budget and Capital Goods
Purchasing Power Equivalence Formula."

The U.S. Defense Budget is about
$600 Billion while China's is $150
Billion on an unofficial basis.

One must take into account that salaries
for Chinese researchers, mid-level development
personnel and engineers is about 1/3rd of the US.

Then one must add in that the Operating
Costs of all the Chinese tanks, missile systems,
Navy and Army personnel and leadership
is 1/4th (one quarter!) the cost of
the USA's military machine.

The actual MATERIAL BUILD COST of all
those new Chinese missiles, tanks, ships,
jets, etc. is 1/6th of the US.

So the average of 1/3 + 1/4 + 1/6 = 1/4.33

can be calculated and converted from
150 Billion absolute U.S. dollars that
China spends on its Military:

$150 BILLION US absolute value x 4.33 equals
a $650 Billion Dollars US True Equivalent!

AND UNLIKE the US, where the "Black Budget"
(i.e. monies spent on military items and
research NOT publicly reported) is INCLUDED
in the general DOD budget documents (about
$50 billion US in 2015), CHINA's military
Black Budget is TRULY OFF-THE-BOOKS but
various sources in the intelligence
community have reached numbers
somewhere between $15 BILLION
($65 Billion US equivalent) to
as high as $30 BILLION ($130 Billion
US equivalent) , so in fact, the TOTAL
Chinese Military Yearly Budget could be
equivalent to as much as $780 BILLION DOLLARS US !!!!

That is a STAGGERINGLY HUGE NUMBER and
that number will ONLY INCREASE EVERY YEAR !!!

This means that China will be able
to OVERTAKE the United States just in
Military Spending alone. Then add in
the 300,000 Engineers, Mathameticians,
BioSciences and other PHD level Graduates
that graduate EVERY YEAR in China which
is already FOUR TIMES LARGER than the USA!

It means that the USA is DONE FOR MILITARILY
on an absolute basis by the year 2020!

And as Chinese military training has gone
from ZERO to nearly Hero status in just
15 years and based upon currently rising
and ENFORCED academic standards in China,
I see that it will only another 5 to 10 years
before Chinese Officer-level training
and schooling quality achieves or
surpasses the same level of today's
USAF and US Naval Academy students!

That will be quite a devastating BLOW
to U.S. military capabilities. This year's
Chinese officer cadre (and enlisted members!)
will be the FIRST COHORT to graduate in 4 years
to a MODERN military with MODERN equipment and
Top-Level strategists coupled with a HUGE

Question: Can China Defeat the USA today
in the year 2015 in a conventional
Military Confrontation?

The Answer Today is NO!

able to defeat the USA in a conventional

This is the best response I have read so far. The USA accounts for 17% (in terms of dollars) of China's exports (in 2014). That is more the the entire EU; Twenty-eight other countries combined. China would find out very quickly when the USA halts trade that they cannot afford that war.

So yeah its looking like violence may be resorted to, I hope not but I think it may happen if the incursions continue.

China doesn't need to start a conventional war. They already own most of the US All they need to do is sell their Treasury Notes and stop shipping goods to Walmart. The end will quickly follow without a shot being fired. Maybe Americans need to learn Mandarin as a second language.

I would be more concerned with the fact that the US has china making a lot of components for it's weapons systems than how much china spends on their own.

Your scenario assumes the US airforce,navy,and army are all defenseless, ALso A massive terrorist attack by chinese soldiers would immediatly go to defcon 1 and lead to china glowing in the dark. remember the NDAA? Dang straight. A invasion would stop the football season and voila millions of sports fans itching for payback. Reality television would also stop a while,and there ya go more fighters for the cause.
