The assassination of Anna Politkovskaya (born 1958), the Russian journalist, writer and human rights activist, took place on 7 October 2006, birthday of Russian president Vladimir Putin. She was well known for her opposition to the Chechen conflict and criticism of Putin.

On 7 October 2006, Politkovskaya was found shot dead in the elevator of her apartment block in central Moscow. Police found a Makarov pistol and four shell casings beside her body. Reports indicated a contract killing, as she was shot four times, once in the head.

According to Berezovsky, Putin uttered that Hakamada and her colleagues "will take in the head immediately, literally, not figuratively" if they "open the mouth" about the Russian apartment bombings.

A week after the assassination, Alexander Litvinenko accused Putin of sanctioning the murder. Two weeks after this statement, Litvinenko was poisoned with radioactive polonium. Two days before his death on 24 November 2006, he wrote a statement, in case he "does not make it".

He said:
"Name the bastard. Anna Politkovskaya did not do it, so I will, for both of us.
You may succeed in silencing one man but the howl of protest from around the world will reverberate, Mr Putin, in your ears for the rest of your life. May God forgive you for what you have done, not only to me but to beloved Russia and its people".

Yes and instead of working on logistics and security concerns and international coalitions to get things done the right way, the Israeli government...builds settlements and publicly says there will be no solution and gets the US to block any diplomatic efforts. It all makes sense now, Saudi's support the right for the Palestinian state, so Saudi's and Israeli's aren't really the best of friends. And relationships between Saudi's and U.S have fallen in recent years. I believe Saudi in return for support for the Palestinian cause from Russia made a deal to fight the militants in Syria ?

Actually, that's not true. The Chechen "rebels" were the same Wahhabi groups that are fighting in Iraq, Syria, etc. Saudi Prince Bandar was one of their major powerbrokers & supporters (the same Bandar who backed the Syrian "rebels" when they used chemical weapons & tried to frame Assad for it to cross Pres Obama's "red line"). Some of those very same Chechen "rebels" have already joined ISIS in Iraq & Syria.

In fact, Chechnya is a Muslim majority Republic and it's current President is a Muslim. And this same Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, wants to send Chechen troops to fight against ISIS.

He added that it was up President Putin to decide, but added that Chechen soldiers were ready to join in the fight in Syria.

Just for the record, I don't love, adore, or hero worship Putin. He's a leader with strengths & weaknesses just like every other leader or public figure.

I just believe Putin's a better option than our Council on Foreign Relations, AIPAC, the Wahhabis, the Israeli settlers & aggressive Zionists (there are different forms of Zionism), and the neoconservatives. Those groups are on the opposite side of pretty much all of my foreign policy beliefs.

But some people seem to have an extremist's mindset of "all or nothing". As if we have to accept every position our government officially takes or we're the enemies. And we have to hate everything Russia does or we're enemies. Real life is much more complex than that, especially once people start learning the details of these complex situations.

Are you justifying Israels actions based on it defending its security?

Not sure what you are alluding to, technically a child throwing a stone at a tank could be a violation of 242 but shooting the child is a far greater human rights breach. If Israel wants security it should stop stoking the fires by ending the mass genocide of Palestinians.

As far as the surrounding countries claiming their land is being occupied yes, Also Jews also called themselve palestinian at one time as well remember? They technically have rights to th eland. The "other palestinians" are part of trans jordan who will never reclaim them because they could not get along with the jordanian government.

Putting people behind a wall and denying them basic human rights, water, food, medical supplies etc based on their ethnicity then continuing to bombard them indiscriminately causing predominantly civilian casualties is the very definition of genocide. You're right in some ways, the Jews and Arabs in Israel / Palestine should live under equality as one country and one people, however the persecution from my perspective looks one way.

Describing the deaths of innocent civilians, the majority of whom are women and children as collateral damage is disgusting!

The "palestinians" in th ewest bank are not of th earea called palestine. they are from JORDAN. And JORDAN has REFUSED to take them AND the land back from Israel. Syria also refuses to acknowledge israel a sa nation and as such is also in breach of international agreements to the UN that wa sset up during cease fire negotiations.

All Jews aren't Zionists and all Zionists aren't Jews. Being "Jewish" simply means "being a member of the Tribe of Judah". They don't even have to follow a form of Judaism to be Jewish, much less believe in Zionism.
