The Nativity is a CHRISTIAN tradition; NOT an American tradition.

I thought Socialists, Liberals and Progressives were all about giving people free stuff...They should be all for Christmas.
So during Christmas everything in the stores are free?

They should not have a live nativity scene at the school. Unless they are willing to represent all religions in the Christmas show, the nativity has no place.
I say that not because I hate Christmas or Christians, but because the schools should remain secular and not give preference to one religion or another.
Sadly, such a simple concept will be missed by many. They will whine and cry and say we are trying to wage war or Christmas...again....just like last year.....and the year before.

It is a "Christmas Show"? So, maybe they shouldnt have a "Christmas" show. So, should it be just limited to Santa and Raindeer type stuff? I mean it is a "Christmas" show. The whole Jesus birthday thing is the reason for the season, so I guess they should trim the tree and disallow parts of the "Christmas" story?

From what I understand, he was born on the first floor of a two story building. The reason that they say it was a barn is because the first floor is traditionally where families would keep their livestock during the night. But it is safer to assume that the animals present during the birth were likely just family pets and maybe a donkey.
Plus all the events depicted in the Nativity scene happened over many days, not just one night.

Christ was not born on December 25, that, in fact, was Sol Invictus, a deity popular with a certain Roman Emperor Constantine before he, er, converted to Christianity.
(*cough* more like converted Christianity to his needs *cough*)
All these solar deities have such "holy days" because of the fact that In much of the northern hemisphere, around December 25, the Sun appears to start to move back upward through the sky toward its solstice position.
