First, condolences to any one who lost somebody today.

And since this is a conspiracy site...

- news reports stated (according to this thread) shooter was in custody

- Other reports shooter shot himself

- Father keeps saying the timing for shooting with one handgun doesn't make sense on CNN

CNN interview - father repeats several time "How does that timing work? Asking someone if they're Christian and shooting and reloading and entering the classroom shooting and going to 2 classrooms..." He didn't say it doesn't seem like one shooter but he asks over and over how is it possible in the amount of time for one small handgun.

- Um who would answer I'm Christian too after seeing the others get shot?

Seriously, this was a science classroom. Not a religion class. Are we supposed to believe that there were 10 so devout christians in that room that after say by the 3rd declared and shot christian, the other 7 didn't begin to have second thoughts about how better to answer that question?

- Scully and Mulder... read your Lone Gunman

There have been films, documentaries, books explaining the shock doctrine, patterns, conspiracies and reasons behind this tired, repeated, false, lone gunman mass shooting scenario. I didn't think anyone believed this anymore. I'm a little surprised that everyone on this website and this thread isn't discussing what are we being diverted from today.

- Community Colleges may be gun free... they are also community free

If you want to bring in actors and create theater, it's certainly easier in a community college in October than an elementary school in April. Why? Because nobody knows anybody. No hall passes. Teams can walk in, set up, prep, get out. Heck community colleges are broke and could be paid off for all we know. I've heard of all kinds of financial scandals with community colleges. I would guess the aftermath is either shut it down or pour in masses of funding for healing and rebuilding.

- A society of headphones and tune out

Yes it could be a copy cat. Some sad soul who plays too much assassins creed in his mother's garage. It could be drugs, prescription or not. It could be time bomb planted seeds, black ops, who knows... but it's also all of us, we're numb and number.

- Arms in the air

How many of you got a chill when you saw the lines of exiting students with their hands on their heads and the swat teams with their guns? Does that make you feel safer? Safer like when you're shuttled like cattle through an airport and removed of your nail scissors? If I manage to hijack a plane with nail scissors, I think I kind of deserve the plane. Was it really necessary to treat traumatized students like they were all under arrest? They already had the lone gunman. So either they suspected more than one gunman or they were willing to further traumatize in order to promote a crowd control exercise.

Why? Why this time? For example...

- Dow makes a V

Hmmm Look at the markets shootings at 10:38AM PST 1:38PM EST. Dow dropped all morning then at time of the shooting Dow is at 16,133 and then bounces up 240 points to close at 16,271. I have an image I took of today but I need help uploading it here.

Here is 911 tweet showing 10:38 am PST www.npr.org...

- Russia's Putin starts first air strike attacks on Syria and leads coalition against terrorist groups.
www.bbc.com...
"They (Russia) have forced a change in the overall policy in Syria – normally no-one else in the world changes the foreign policy of the U.S.," Granville said. www.cnbc.com...

- Bad news or worse news?

The bad news is that this really happened. 10 people died, 7 were injured. One very sad man is to blame.

The worse news is it is not entirely impossible that this is fake, staged, theater, the gunman / gunmen are not dead. The students weren't students and the interviews weren't their family members. Maybe stay bullets have injured innocents or may not have. Bread and circus.

Only it's a sad old circus. Viewers have school shooting fatigue. Soon we'll all expect to raise both our hands and march out in line for a public lockdown for a possible shooter... just as bored as we stand in line now and take off our shoes and hold up our hands for the scanner booth in the airport.

How free do you feel in there?

Great post. I am always thinking CONSPIRACY after all the ridiculous crap that has gone on around previous mass shootings of late. Also this same tired repeated lone gunman profile which is like a broken record deja vu all over again. Today I watched and read here and posted here in real time. I tried to be open minded... it feels wrong in the gut. I am almost afraid to admit to being a "truther", (BTW since WHEN has searching for the truth become attached to such negative connotations! Well I guess it has done, in historical times, but we are meant to be enlightened in 2015) especially (and even??) on ATS. Don't get me wrong, I do not deny there are victims; I do not search for the truth out of disrespect for any grieving families; I simply follow my gut and want to know the truth. How can so many people just stick their heads in the sand?

Yes, I agree. In fact, now it is smart to dig for the truth.

I agree. As expected this shooter's profile is coming out and sounding like every other lone gunman in history. His downloaded torrents and earlier comments , before the comment about the shooter of the reporters on air, suggest he had interest in conspiracy. I just find it hard to believe he actually committed this shooting. I'm not saying nobody did... This is just my gut talking.

I really wish his mother would come out and speak, It is beyond ridiculous that CNN had a panel of commentators condemning her today before they even know anything. Calling her a "helicopter mom" and a "snow plow mom" who paved the way for he son to what, slaughter 9 (is it now?)innocent people? How dare they? Just in an effort to make this whole story easier for the public to swallow , as usual. Maybe she wasn't a great mom , but how could they possibly know?

People keep wanting to blame the guns, the medication, the mother. The new media leads the sheep down the path and they all follow along arguing amongst themselves trying to reconcile this horror until they are exhausted and turn away to watch Kardashians.

I don't find it hard to believe at all. In fact, I find it hard to believe that this kind of tragedy doesn't happen more often.

Put a gun and a few rounds in the hands of any person that has the same personality traits as this person reportedly had, then I guarantee you they will at least ponder the thought, even if they never actually go though with it.

One eyewitness mentions a National Guard guy in the parking lot outside Snyder Hall:

aplus.com...
25-year-old Navy Veteran Kenny Ungerman was chatting with a National Guard Recruiter outside of Umpqua Community College’s Snyder Hall.

www.msnbc.com...
Q: Is it common for a National Guard recruiter to be on campus?
A: The reason he was on campus was ... He thought there was a .. I forgot what it's called, uh, he had a meeting there I believe is why he was there. ...

He thought there was a ...what? I wonder if this "meeting" had something to do with the shooting?

"Q: Can you describe the gunman for us?
"A: I saw a 20 year old white male..."

20? Again? Are they following some kind of script here?

Great links.

I think this man would know if the suspect had been wearing a flack jacket after his military service. Are soldiers not trained to remember detail? He sure got confused when asked why the national guard recruiter was there.

Also the 20 year old thing definitely sounded scripted as all the news outlets were reporting this at about that same time.

Also he had only 1 handgun? It was reported today he had 4 on him -3 pistols and a long gun. It was also reported there were other-not sure how many they said- weapons found on campus in addition to the 4 on the shooter. CNN even had a nice graphic to illustrate. Oh and also "lots" of ammo.

Someone somewhere in this epic thread was asking about cell phones. I have not been able to find the interview in my DVR material but I know a bystander was speaking on air about not being able to connect via cell phone with her loved one. So I guess the answer to that might be the circuits were so busy they were jammed ... or somebody was jamming them, you know, like authorities are able to do anywhere anytime they wish to quell communications for one reason or another, just a thought.

Seems like your profile of what would come out about the shooter is turning out to be bang on starvigo!

So have the "False Flag", "He's not the (only) Shooter", "We need MORE guns", "We need less Guns", "Anti-depressants are the root cause", "2nd Amendment grammar nazi's" all checked into this thread yet?

Or has something meaningful and different been discussed?

Yes they have all checked in and messed up pages and pages, it started out OK and I found it interesting because I was posting and watching in real time. Hopefully we can take it back to a place of fact finding discussion and thought.

I would be interested to know what happened with the 4chan thread where someone anonymous had posted warning people not to go to school in the North West the night before the shooting. It was established that other posters on that thread had tried to incriminate "Eggman" Toby Reynolds and that it was not he who was the shooter or he who had made that post. Someone made that post, of course it is not being talked about anymore on the news because they were already condemning this Egg guy- without naming him- early on. Still...someone made that post. On that thread it was mentioned that the user was hidden behind 9000 proxies or something like that. I don't know exactly what that means , I would guess it's like masked IP's? Anyway is there anyone around who might know how to go about finding out any info like that? There might be some answers hidden there...

BINGO!! The root cause is not a firearm, it is merely a tool. A common pressure cooker had similar effect at the Boston Marathon. We need to understand what creates these disassociated, anti-social, types who turn into the monsters they do. Once understood, we as a people need to develop ways to intervene and help guide these troubled people into a lifestyle which is productive with the rest of society.

Cell phone jamming may be standard procedure, as they might be attempting to avoid any potential remote detonations .

Good point. That makes sense, I wonder how they coordinate and communicate in a situation like this. They must have some closed frequency 2 way radios that nobody can pick up on, if people were able to tune in somehow that could seriously derail their rescue effort!

And when you discover "...these disssociated, anti-social, types who turn into the monsters" - Your words - should anything be done to control their access to firearms?

Texas isn't ranked in the top 20 states for Gun Violence in America. I think its clear why. Everyone in Texas loves their guns. Home owners here have the right to shoot and kill if someone breaks into your home and the bad guys know this. The bad guys also know that there are probably several guns per home in small town Texas, so you don't see home invasions much here either. You are likely to get shot dead if you rob a store here too or broke into someones home. Depending on where you are, you see rifles on truck gun racks here in Texas too. So if you're a criminal in Texas, pulling out a gun on someone isn't that smart because they'll most likely shoot back at you. Also, if you walked into a movie theater here and started shooting, chances are, someone in the audience will pull a glock out and shoot back at you. People here know this.

I'm a proud Texan and I have a gun licence, so I can legally carry. My glock 9mm pistol is always close. I also own 14 other types of firearms as well.

www.cbsnews.com...

Alaska is #1 followed by Louisiana and so on.

Well, I think the empirical answer to your question is; yes.

In practice though the hard part is getting to the part where you have empirical proof they will become monsters capable / willing to carry out mass-murder.

So, I'm not exactly sure where you were headed with your question, but if it was along the lines of the difficulty in getting to this level of certainty as opposed to the easier action of just removing firearms from the equation altogether, hence the need to take the easier of the two paths I would disagree.

I just read an article about the shooter, what stood out to me was here is another young man who lives alone with his mother, and has obvious mental problems. Yet, the mother regularly takes the son to shooting ranges and allows him/her to own guns.

We now have at least two school shooters who have this in common. These are not uneducated women, when do you decide as a mother that this is healthy for your child who has a mental illness?

What do we know about his mother so far? Anybody know or has anybody seen her picture?

There is not much info on the mother. She is a nurse, divorced the father awhile ago, but no pictures that I can find.
