Not a hack. These are genuine glitches and though unusual are not related.
Oh deleting the snarky part. No offense if you already read it.

united just came out and said it was a "router" that went out....being an retired computer guy, I'm surprised a company that large, and computerized data dependent, wouldn't have back-ups in place. even smaller companies that I worked on had them years ago. Wall street journal site went down, United airlines went down, now the NYSE is down.....too many coincidences to me. failures do not happen so closely in time, and in such diverse systems, without smelling like a week old fish sitting out on a kitchen counter.

The news is really dysfunctional, nothing new though. Too much coincidence for this to be all one tech glitch. Especially considering the timing of the Asian, European markets.

if they wanted to avoid panic, they sure as hell would lie to you.....by the way, can you explain in detail why you are 100% sure it ISN'T a "hack"??

Who says it's one glitch? They all say unrelated.

bloomberg news, live coverage, just had a guy say "I'm not a conspiracy theorist but zero hedge went down, then the wall street journal, and now the NYSE"

So, to the bloomberg dudes reading this, how about a shout out?

CNBC website dropping the hint that maybe a cyber attack by anonymous. Pointing to their tweet yesterday

"Wonder if tomorrow is going to be bad for Wall Street.... we can only hope."

Interesting to make that comment and that happened. Hopefully it has some effect.

Not sure I believe it would be by Anon. Seems to me this would be a government sanctioned attack coming from China. Anon is an easy straw-man. The tweet is precarious though.

They are still having issues meshing their system with Continental Airways since their merger. There was another issue just last week with reservations.

NYSE just released a statement that they chose to shut down trading due to internal computer issues and state emphatically that this is not a hack.

Would they admit to it being a hack if it was?

As someone who flies United weekly I can tell you that since the merger everything except the aircraft and crews has been a logistical disaster.

I'm a pretty skeptical person. With that said, I don't believe for a second this is all just random computer glitches. These are HUGE entities that have contingencies in place for hardware/software problems. To much happening at once to think this is all random.
