Similarly to what happened in China, NYSE has halted it's trading. Possible technology glitch? Or worse?

yes - the obvious ? would be is this "technical issue" related at all to the Chinese stock market plunge and hold on half of their trades? how can the markets not react to Chinese market forces?

Only on securities traded there at the moment. American stocks are still trading overseas.

Right because it was only the rich who suffered in the crash of 29 right? Ever hear about the great depression? Where no one could get a job because of the losses in the market?
